How can kidney cost 1.2million while head (the source of power) cost a paltry amount?
The ones selling kidneys are alive and able to negotiate, while the head is being sold by unconcerned killer. Hence the price difference.

Romance / Re: My Ex Girlfriend Now Hates Me by tlops(m): 12:37pm On Mar 16, 2021
from the writeup, I doubt she was your girlfriend. She was a girl that you chat with or she "friendzoned" you. You 'trafficated' and she refused your advances because she is not seeing you as a boyfriend. So she is not your EX. Move on man.

Thanks alot. I really appreciate.

If we can develop a cheap housing module in Nigeria, it will really go a long way to address our accommodation issues. As well as being a goldmine for investors.

You identified some issues - hot weather and wet wood that will be destroyed faster. With regular maintenance, cant that be addressed? Like regular treatment or replacement of damaged parts? The same way people patch cracked walls and floors.

Yes, it can work in Nigeria. The wood are treated and the house can stand for decades as long as it is maintained. Our weather as mentioned in my earlier comment will affect the house so much as our maintenance culture. So the house will last as long as it is maintained.

Another factor if there is fire and no water, the house will burn down completely and fast. That can be prevented if everyone has some fire extinguisher at home or install auto sprinkler when there is fire.

Elipsis:

As regards security, one can also re-enforce the house with iron bars or something, together with other security measures like alarm systems etc.

It may not be as standard as a regular house, but at least, people will have a decent place to sleep.

What do you think? Cant this be done?

if you start reinforcing the wooden structure with iron bars then the cost may go up as much as concrete... I think the main thing stopping this will be security. Someone mentioned that their house was broken into (literally) recently.

Another (maybe main) factor is also cultural, our fore fathers have preferred building with clay and concrete rather than woods. Maybe its due to their inability to shape the (tree) woods or they think its not safe.

Summarily, I agree with you, we should explore this path as a way of boosting housing shortage in the country.
Properties / Re: Sending Money Back Home For A Project: What Has Been Your Experience? by tlops(m): 11:43am On Jun 05, 2020
I am sure the son in-law has his own property somewhere nearby..

I wonder why people do that, no wonder Putin (Not confirmed) called Africa cemetery http://www.mdrebahri.com/russia-president-vladimir-putin-says-africa-is-a-cemetery-for-africans/ . I am sure the lady in question was living in rented house (denying herself comfort ) where she lived and work and wants to build mansion where she only visits a few days per year.

My advice to those living abroad is that, make sure you are enjoying, thriving and contribute to your host nations. Don't be in a hurry to enter the rat race of building a house in Nigeria when you have not owned your home in your host country (except you are illegal, then send the money ASAP). Use your mortgage as savings, that is pay more on the loan (Amortize) so that when you sell you will have a lot of cash back and you can enter and build in Nigeria. There is no way you will enter Nigeria with $250k without building something comfortable.

Your children that you gave birth to/ trained abroad will not come and inherit your Nigerian house. so enjoy your life and contribute where ever God placed you.

Can someone explain to me why these guys don't use cement to build their houses?

I've noticed this in foreign houses. Just plank and small metal. They don't even have foundations. Small breeze, everything don scatter.

Is cement very expensive there abi its illegal to build houses with cement?

I'll appreciate helpful comments.
Cost and weather are part of factors that contributed to that. Since they have extreme cold weather wood and insulation is good and its cheaper than concrete. Moreover, these countries have large forests which keeps the supplies of the wooden product going and affordable. Most of the houses are built as prefab (built in the factory and transported to site) both wooden and concrete houses are built like this (most). Even if you build a concrete house wood will be used to partition and line the inside. However the houses have concrete and insulation (fuke fuke) foundation. The woods are well treated and can last for decades.

the next questions is why can't we do that in Nigeria?
Well, we don't have sustainable forest, we keep cutting and not planting enough to replace them. So wood can be more expensive.
Our weather is hot and wet so wood will get destroyed faster here..
Security, it will be easier for thieves to cut through your house with wood. its not that the bricks stops the determined thieves.

If you are single then go as single. If you are married then go alone as married, while you work on settling down then bring your family. It is easier to hustle alone than when you have family around. Trust me it's not always easy relocating if you don't already have a job waiting for you.

Health / Re: How Do I Help A Baby With Epilepsy? by tlops(m): 6:31pm On Mar 28, 2019
Well, you need to see a pediatric neurologist. The will do series of test. Basic ones are MRI, EEG it could also be genetic that test could be expensive (blood and tissue).
But it usually goes away. Keep praying and checking with the doctors. You don’t have to be too worried it will run it cause and go. Just make sure you give your little one the attention she needs and give her space during the seizure and allow her to rest afterwards, the will allow the brain to recover from the stress of d seizures. It is well with your neice In Jesus Name.
