FamilyDad Calls Police To Supervise Him Spanking His Daughter by tnature(op): 6:19pm On Jan 05, 2015
Wonders shall never end! A Florida dad, who didn't want to break the law and get arrested for hitting his child, called a cop to come watch him smack his 12-year-old daughter.

An officer responded to the call and went to the family's home to watch the father spank his daughter on the bottom, The Mirror UK reports.

Sheriff Noel Stephen from Okeechobee, Florida, revealed that it was not the first time the Sheriff's Office had been asked to witness such.

He said that he has personally supervised about 12 spankings where the parents were worried about being accused of child abuse.

Sheriff Stephen said:

"It's definitely not something we advise to do, and even though law enforcement has been willing to help out in this situation, watching a parent discipline their child is something that’s done only when a deputy has no other calls to handle."

There's something about this that's just funny to me. On the bright side though, the time it takes for the cops to show up will allow the father enough time to calm down before spanking the girl. That way, he doesn't spank out of anger.

And....the police for this area no get better work do? #JustWondering.

What's your view on the best ways to discipline a child?

I am so overjoyed right now! The missing 25-year-old Nigerian doctor from Houston Texas, Fehintola Omidele, has been found alive today, Sunday December 7th. According to Houston local news KPRC, Texas Equusearch confirmed that she was found in El Campo, TX, about 70 miles from Houston.

The details about what really happened is still sketchy. I'll update as soon as more information become available.

I'm just so excited that she's okay. Not a lot of such searches (especially when it is a female) end happily.

Music/RadioAlbum Review - Olamide - Street OT by tnature(op): 10:14pm On Nov 24, 2014
https://infonubia.com/wp-content/uploads/Olamide-Street-OT-Album-640x336.jpg

Artist: Olamide

Label: YBNL

Album title: Street OT

Just like the name of this album, it seems all the tracks were written basically for a particular kind of people. The agberos, the taxi drivers, the ordinary man on the street…. Not too rich but comfortable enough to end the day with a bottle of Gulder. The first thing I do notice on this album is that the sound engineering (if there was any at all) was so poor. It sounded as if the songs were recorded in a sound proof room and copied to CD immediately with no effort at mixing. However, we cannot take away from the established fact that Mr. Olamide is a master player with Yoruba words. I had particular reservations reviewing this album because the tracks were similar in many regards….. I would also desist from trying to find meaning to the tracks because many of them do not have a concise theme.

Album starts with Oga Nla Ft Pasuma & Lil Kesh. Pasuma on the chorus makes this song a good listen. Lil Kesh killed his verse as expected with his comical lyrics and ever smooth delivery. Olamide did what he knows how to do best…. But I could not find a punch line that could get me screaming.

The album then moves on to a Krunk beat in Zero Joy where Olamide goes in for almost 2 minutes playing with words as he changes the texture of his voice along the track. The production is simple enough and the Rastafarian hook is something different.

Blood Money is one track on this album that I had to skip. I could not even decide where to place this track. "Hardcore reggeaton hip-hop" - what the hell is that self? Even in terms of delivery, his punchlines were kind of weak. This is not one of his best deliveries.

The first tungba on this album is on "Ya wa". Pheelz did a good job as always …… and you can definitely find this playing across all platforms on the street. Its dance-able, its head "bump-able" and it has a sing along chorus which many will surely enjoy.

The next track is Hood Rap….you see I like this track. Pheelz produced a fantastic track and Olamide was spitting on this one. Just a single verse and he went all in. I am not sure what I expected from Olamide on this album but I had mentioned to my friend Segun Pryme, I think he is better than this "gimme beat make I yarn" syndrome… Olamide can be as innovative as MI if he steps out of his comfort zone.

The Real MVP … Singing/rapping which one of the popular sides of Olamide…. He has done it in the past and there was no harm in giving us a feel of that on this one too. Song has a sing along hook too but nowhere close to the evergreen "first of all".

Next on this journey is Up in the club. Up in the club's beat has a Krunk feel with light drums and he started the track with a story line that would keep interested for about 20 seconds then the rap line deviates and then loses its theme. But we cannot take away from the beat (however not original) and his delivery; and if you are a fan of the Nae-Nae, you have a chance to display your skill on this one.

Then came Skelemba. Probably the only track on this album worthy of a heavyweight like Don jazzy. The beat is richer and also has a fantastic arrangement. Suppose to be a love song from a thug I would imagine having the bridge muscled by an Igbo businessman professing love. Very decent track.

Prayer for Client is pure fire. Everything is on point…delivery, hook, beat, arrangement… hip-hop at its finest. Give this track a remix and feature ModeNine, Vector, Phyno…..explosion!!. Olamide stay killing the track with punchline after punch line.

Olamide then takes us to church in Batifeori. "Mercy said Noooo, never gonna let you go ….never gonna let you walk away"…. Popular chorus to a Cece Winans song. I will not be surprise to see churches begin to choreograph to this one.

Bang is a lazy track and whoever produced this did not put in much effort; probably about 3 distinct instruments. It sounded like a freestyle put together in a room of drunk young men that needed something to fuel their egos. Rapsodi was a foundational album and even though it was crude, it sounded just perfect for a young man coming into an industry where he did not know what to expect. BGEL on the other displayed maturity in every respect… the boy was grown and he was much better at word play. This album Street OT shows no growth at all; we definitely know he has grown from the collaborations on other people's track…. But only a few of these tracks truly stand out.

Anyways let us continue. Goons Mi, an ode to the fans, I would presume laced with some outstanding word plays but just like Story for the Gods, we already heard them and we knew they were top notch performances.

Next was 1999. I like a story-telling rapper ….. and I like the fact that we got a taste of Olamide's story. Falila Ketan I would imagine is supposed to be comical… a song that guys from the palm wine tappers club would find very interesting.

In My Circle ft Phyno is very correct; albeit not original …. Beat lifted off Drake's "The motto" but the verses were blockbusters. Line after line and of course if you got Phyno on a track, he is yet to fail and he did not fail on this one. Always making Igbo language so sweet to the ear.

Alaaru is innovation! What I would have expected on this album. "Imagine she emi jor sule gambari, to fe lo s'orun lo fe virgin." Many would not consider this a jam but when you think about the non-familarity of the beat and the Olamide's ability to deliver on it, I would say I am impressed.

100 to Million…. Viktoh has a good voice and Olamide on this track brings Dagrin memories to mind. That effortless transition between posh Yoruba and English. That was what we loved about Dagrin…he had a perfect blend of hood and posh! Did I mention that Chinko Ekun could be mistaken for Seriki - same rap styles from both artistes.

Story For the Gods is not new…we listened to that early on this year but you know what? It is still a pleasing song in terms of its production and verses.

Reminisce was featured on Hustle Loyalty. The head-bumping hit is all sorts of awesome. Just listen as you open up a fresh bottle of whisky and turn the volume up. Bump your head as your vision fades and you walk on air and test the loyalty of the ground below you.

Possible is a fine track and it is inspirational too, telling you there is nothing you cannot do when you set your heart do.

Usain Bolt was championed by Lil kesh. Listen to the part where he said "I do not need a Bunmi Davis for Nigeria to stand up" I guess this was a perfect introduction for this new YBNL soldiers…. Chinko Ekun, Pepenazi, Lil kesh and Chuka. And then Eni Sun.

I am a big Olamide fan, one of the biggest out there, but this album does not have the same effect on me as the first 3 albums and I doubt the longevity of this album. I had to listen more than twice only because I was determined to find the best in it so I do not write it off after a first listen. Maturity is one thing I expected from this album; maturity in production, a little more effort in sound quality, and also some mind altering collaborations. For example, imagine an Andy Allo or Asa on Possible. It would have been a master infusion of Soul and Afropop.

I would also suggest Olamide explore beats from other producers like Major Bangz and Kid Connect. These fine producers make fine hip-hop beats. Those are the kind of musical risks we want to see him take on his albums not just getting Pheelz to put something together and spitting 3 verses.

The album is at best a 7/10 for me.

What do you think?

Music/RadioAlbum Review: MI Abaga – The Chairman by tnature(op): 5:20am On Nov 10, 2014
Name of Artiste: Jude MI Abaga

Record Label: Chocolate City

Album Title: The Chairman

Previous Work: Talk About It, MI2

Let me first mention that this is not an opinion of InfoNubia as a blog but just my opinion as a lover of Nigerian music and a contributor on this blog.

Jude Abaga (born 4 October 1981), better known by stage name MI Abaga, is a Nigerian hip hop recording artist. He has won several awards including the MTV Africa Music Awards 2009. He was nominated in the Best International Act category at the BET Awards 2010. He rose to prominence in 2006 when his song “Crowd Mentality” became popular in his hometown of Jos. He is a music executive at Chocolate City. On 11 December 2008, M.I released his critically acclaimed debut album, Talk About It. (Wikipedia, 2012)

Enough of history, I guess you just want to know what to expect on the album following all the hype preceding its release. The album itself has generated a lot of controversy; while some say MI just reaffirmed his position as the best Nigerian rapper, others say he has not done enough to be pronounced the best.

If you ask me, I will just say I enjoyed every bit of the album. Is it not amazing that the best albums we have heard in a while have been from the Choc boys (except Ice Prince sha)? I’m talking Jesse Jags and Brymo.

Anyways, enough story ….. Lets go to business

The Beginning/ Nobody
We have always known M.I to be very expressive and dramatic from his earlier works. For other artists, the intros are usually a bunch of gibberish….in most cases a funny skit with no meaningful direction. Here MI introduces his album with an expressive satire of bane of Nigerian education; where a frustrated principal attempted to pass down his frustration to his students deeming any ray of hope they might have becoming someone in life. It is a social issue in Nigeria with teachers underpaid and students frustrated; the few that make it through this ordeal then find it difficult to get jobs. Great intro from MI to set the pace of the 17 track journey; I should not be grading an intro but I am giving this a 7.5/10.

Monkey Ft Chi Gurl
Satire at its finest! You see how this man uses the comical events in Nigeria to bless this track….You all remember the “na only you waka come” saga of the Nigerian first lady? MI effectively builds his verses around this saying as he passes a huge message to his haters. We cannot take anything away from the production on this track too… and he ends the track on high “I am insured mehn, I am state farm…..howz neck mehn, oya take balm” And you know the sweet thing is; you can dance shoki to it….7.5

Rich Feat Koker
Easily one of my favorite. Production, delivery, mix…..the song got every. The message here on is very prayerful and prophetic. The hook itself is a prayer that we will all be rich while his verses are more of the description of that state when we finally get there. Track itself might not have all the bad punch lines of other tracks but it does have a message and a theme well-defined. I love it! 8/10

Mine Feat Wizkid
If you have always listened to MI you will remember he featured Wizkid on his first album (nobody knew him then I guess). The title of the track was “Fast Cars.” Compared to this, you will see how both artistes have grown. The hook and the verses are kind of cheesy but it is still a solid groove with some great lines to. Check this out …“I know your ex left a bad taste, but I am toothpaste, this is a new phase…how did that taste” 7.5/10

Shekpe Ft Reminisce
A visit to the streets I will call this one… he displays his ability to be “razz” and I think it is fun to find out he can be less serious. And of course, Alaga Ibile displays in a fantastic way….. Yoruba floetry sentence after sentence. Haha I must not forget to mention that nursery rhyme “10 green bottles” remixed. Nice production too. 7.5/10

Bad Belle Ft Moti Cakes
This is one track I had to listen a few times to understand its theme. He says bad belle is allowed but I was wondering if the he was the originator of the bad belle or he was the target of the bad belle. By the second verse, he does show that he is the origin of the bad belle (in a good way, cos he does make some valid points). Delivery is decent so also is the production. 7/10

Wheelbarrow ft Emmy Ace and Beenie man
Emmy Ace and Beenie man on a track provides MI the pedestal he needs to delve into some dance hall. Emmy Ace delivering such a sweet sing along hook, MI not failing to deliver on his punch lines oscillating between regular english and the jamaican lingua. Of course, we all know what Beenie man is capable of doing when it comes to this rastafara things. 7/10

Brother Ft Nosa And Milli
Yoooo!! This is a brilliant rendition. For those of you that have followed the Choc Boys saga….MI shells out his pain and how he feels about the whole thing. MI proves to be a master storyteller and peddles words to deliver this inspirational piece. Nosa can definitely be to chocolate city what they missed in Brymo …. He adds flavor to the track. 8/10

Middle Ft Olamide and IJ
IJ had the hook, MI and Olamide on them verses. However the track sounds like one of Drake’s song…. “started from the bottom.” Okay, maybe that was in my head when I was listening. But that does not take away from MI’s delivery on this track. Listen “who the best rapper; omoh that one go depend…I am not the one to ask , ask number 2-10″…. And Olamide brought back memories of Dagrin; this is what Dagrin would sound like on this track…. Listen “…won form bad guy, ammunition o si….. Flow so easy, awon fi shan si”….. This is a decent track and we can only take a little from it. 7/10

Enemies Ft Patoranking
You know what? This is the only track I skipped on this album after the first listen. Not that the track was not good in itself, but I could not find anything that stood out for me. However, MI does advice that we be careful in this life ooo….always watch your back cos you do not know who your enemies are. At least, the song get message…… better than “are you gonna dance ooo, if I show you my money” (no subs intended) 6.5/10

Bullion Van FT Runtown, Phyno and Storm Rex
Run town, Phyno and Storm Rex are the current power house from the East (Flavor used to be but he has been silent for too long) MI takes us on a trip to eastern Nigerian on this song;. The track is laced with a traditional eastern Nigeria rhythm and Phyno killed it (even though I no understand Igbo, the thing sweet my belle)… listen ” baby you should get used to this, there are levels to this and this small boys tryna rock you, there are pebbles to this.” Thumbs up MI! Beautiful collabo! 8/10

Always Love Ft Seyi Shay
We would have loved to have a “one naira” standard love song on this album but we all know that might be like asking for too much cos that track was on another level. “Always love” is definite worth the listen too; and Seyi shows how sweet her voice can sound on this love songs. However, with the so many transition in beats going on I kinda lost track tho….well… 6.5/10

Millionaire Champagne Ft Ice Prince, Sarkodie and DJ Lambo
Plain fire on this track my people. MI throwing this lyrical punches like he is fighting Jay Z. Ice Prince too showed up on this track, even with his cheesy lyrics, he still managed to deliver with passion. Sarkodie also lived up to his name….But MI floored everyone; punchline after punchline… Track made me feel like I was listen to some BET cypher…… the hook is so groovy and you might not know when you will use your salary to buy drinks at the club listening to this. 8.5/10

Yours Ft Milli and Debbie
This is for his Fans. He is sets out appreciating those that have brought him thus far, especially his fans. The hook shared by MI and Debbie made it sound so good. Cool, relaxed jam for the soul. Milli was decent but you know….we have better features even on this album especially because he deviated from the theme of the song. 7/10

Beg Ft Morell and Loose Kaynon
Did you ever listen to “Sex and Scotch” by Jesse Jags? Here is a remix (as far as I’m concerned). Beats similar, and even the message. The difference you ask me? MI was on one….Jags was on the other. Both tracks are fantastic though! Morell can do more things than just sing hook though. I felt he was underused. Kaynon says “beat it up like am…fighting for a cause” haha…7.5/10

Human Being Ft 2Face, Sound Sultan
How MI got two superstars to manage two verses on one track surprises me. Sound sultan only got outro sef. You know how we expect this artiste to live larger than life, This track explains how of humans they truly are. Sometimes they are broke even when they drive seemingly big cars and look all nice and rich. Message received MI. This is what sets this dude apart from all other artistes, he addresses issues that we can all relate to…. social, political and even religious. He is a genius! 8/10

The End (ft Oritse femi, Frank Edwards and Nanya)
Brings the album to a close. Following the disappointment from “the beginning”….after how the principal tried to bring him down, MI is bursting out in praises at this point. Listen to this …. “we get patience for goodluck to make sense, but still our parents they struggle to pay rent”…. 8/10

For those of you that intend to buy this album you cannot go wrong. I have listened continuously since I dropped my $9.99 on itunes. I was not sure what to expect but MI did not let me down. With this album, he is able to get a handful of more listeners that would rather want to hear something "less oyinbo rappish" and at the same time provide something that "African American Twitter" can relate to.

Overall rating: 7.5

Some men are probably jumping for joy at the weird result of a study carried out by academics at the University of Montreal about sexual activity and the risk of prostate cancer.

The study finds that compared to men who have had only one partner during their lifetime, men who sleep with more than 20 women have a 28% lower risk of one day being diagnosed with prostate cancer (of all types), and a 19% reduction for aggressive types of cancer. However, sleeping with more than 20 male partner doubles the risk of getting cancer compared to those who have never slept with a man.

Oddly enough, men who said they have never had sexual intercourse were almost twice as likely to be diagnosed with prostate cancer as those who said they had.

The findings were published in the journal Cancer Epidemiology. The results were obtained as part of the Montreal study PROtEuS (Prostate Cancer & Environment Study), in which 3,208 men responded to a questionnaire on, amongst other things, their sex lives. Of these men, 1,590 were diagnosed with prostate cancer between September 2005 and August 2009, while 1,618 men were part of the control group.

Possible explanation for this finding:

It is possible that having many female sexual partners results in a higher frequency of ejaculations, whose protective effect against prostate cancer has been previously observed in cohort studies.
Does this mean public health authorities will soon be recommending men to sleep with many women in their lives? This is where I LOL…

CelebritiesWizkid Arrested For Smoking Weed In Kenya? by tnature(op):
We know that a significant number of Nigerian artists smoke weed, so it's not surprise that Wizkid could be associated with it. However could it be true that the Starboy Records label head was arrested over the weekend for smoking weed in a Kenyan hotel?

Kenyan publication, Standard Digital reports that the Nigerian music star was smoking weed inside the Nairobi Crown Plaza hotel where smoking is not allowed. Things went downhill after the hotel staff confronted Wizkid and the police had to get involved.

“Visiting Nigerian singer Wizkid was arrested from his Nairobi Crown Plaza Hotel room on Saturday afternoon and quizzed by police only hours before his flight back to Lagos.

The arrest was in connection with allegations that he was caught smoking illegal substances. The incident happened at around 1pm just as the Caro singer was checking out of his hotel room where he has been staying for a week, since his last week’s concert.

Before police officers cuffed him and drove him to Capital Hill Police Station where he was quizzed, the hotel had already charged him with 50,000 Kenyan Shillings smoking penalty, which he paid through his credit card.

Coming to his rescue was his newly found Kenyan flame Victoria Kimani, who followed him to the police station shortly after he had been arrested. Victoria had been with the singer at the hotel the previous day. Wizkid was due to leave for Lagos at around 3pm and was forced to cancel the flight due to the drama.”
There's been no word from Wizkid or Victoria Kimani about the alleged incident.

FashionHow To Keep Your Makeup Brushes Clean by tnature(op): 8:03pm On Oct 16, 2014
Makeup brushes should be cleaned at least once in every one or two weeks. Makeup residues on brushes attract all sorts of dirt and also form a good breeding ground for bacterial growth. Here is how to keep your makeup brushes clean.

1.) Place brush under running water to rinse off some dirt.
2.) Fill a bowl with lukewarm water. Squirt some baby shampoo in the water and swirl the brush in it ( I use my facial cleanser sometimes and its formulated for acne prone skin. This way I make sure that all bacteria causing acne is zapped off my brush).
3.) Rub the bristles with your fingers or gently beat against the bottom of the bowl. This will work lather into the inner bristles.
4.) Rinse several times until the water becomes clear of soap.
5.) Reform the shape of your brush and place on a piece of towel to dry.

Following these steps will keep your makeup brushes clean.

Ladies, what are other tips do you have for cleaning your brushes?

Christianity EtcPoll: Should Religious Organizations Pay Taxes? by tnature(op): 9:36pm On Oct 15, 2014
Churches and other religious organizations have charity status, which means they are not obligated to open their books, and certainly don't have to fill in tax returns.

However, there seems to be an increase in megachurches and some of the leaders of these churches are publicly perceived to live lavishly.

A recently published list of Top 10 richest pastors in the world has 5 Nigerian pastors with Bishop David Oyedepo of Winners Chapel leading with a net worth of $150 million.

In an interview with Reuters yesterday, the respected religious leader was asked if churches in Nigeria should pay taxes. His response was:

"There is no single government input on this premises. We supply our water, we make our roads, then you ... say: 'Let's tax them'. For what?"
While the pastor may have a legitimate point about the Nigerian government (lots of Nigerians would agree that the government isn't doing enough to warrant taxing the people), the same cannot be said of all countries.

Since I (and majority of readers) live abroad, I know for a fact that taxes work. We also have megachurches that are considered charity organizations and as such, they are exempted from paying tax.

The poll question is: Should churches and other religious organizations pay tax? Or do you think there should some special criteria to determine which organization is taxed? The truth however is, for every megachuch, there are several others struggling to pay their bills. What are your thoughts?

Participate in the poll and leave a comment.

CelebritiesAmber Rose Files For Divorce From Wiz Khalifa by tnature(op): 7:34pm On Sep 24, 2014

In what seems to be a shocking revelation, Amber Rose has filed for divorced from rapper Wiz Khalifa and she wants full custody of their kid. These guys just got married about a year ago. Well, in our present world, 1 year is such a long time in marriage.

In the divorce docs — obtained by TMZ — Amber says they split on Monday and cites irreconcilable differences.

Amber is asking for full legal and physical custody of their 1-year-old son Sebastian. She’s willing to give Wiz visitation.

And this is interesting. Amber acknowledges there’s a prenup, which you would think would work in Wiz’ favor, but she says it’s valid … presumably, she’s not challenging it. The docs say the prenup provides spousal support.

As for why they split, there’s been a buzz over the last few days of infidelity, but there’s no mention of it in the papers.

Sources connected with the couple say the split is bitter.

It is nah wah!
