iSpitonYourGrav:Then you must either be disingenuous (cause I've seen about 5 Igbo names so far and counting for different degree programs/fields) or simply blind, hopefully your brother LegendHero isn't both. |
Covidodo:I'm Currently downloading all my pdfs for CSULB, CSULA, CSUDH, UCLA, USC and UC San Diego, I get time today, good thing I'm off all day. You can also have the head-start of starting a thread and posting your database from ATL for any academic year/semester of the schools you've found, and I'll meet you there when I'm done with mine. LegendHero. |
Covidodo:LegendHero, I'm right on my compilations, it will of course take me some time but I should have a set of convocation list from 2016-19/20 available by tonight or tomorrow, lots of names so I've got to take my time to identify and indent all the Nigerian sounding ones for ease of streamlining down to number basics (Igbo and Yorubas) I've come across the Georgia Tech commencement list for 2020 I believe, already preening that one for the Nigerians as well as I type. https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&source=web&rct=j&url=http://commencement.gatech.edu/sites/default/files/images/spring-commencement-2019.pdf&ved=2ahUKEwjzu6-lnfDoAhVUqJ4KHb2zAIkQFjACegQICRAB&usg=AOvVaw0lOdFXVZTlT0tqiApZDDcv |
Diiet:What a daft thing to say, the constitution clearly gives every Nigerian the right to live in any part of the country, and Yorubas last time I checked are still part of the Federation. So stop acting like you are doing anybody a favor cause other Nigerians stay in your region, I'm a PH boy and your people flood my state and region like flies on fecal matter too, nobody is doing no one a favor in Nigeria as long as you're a law abiding tax paying citizen in any part of the country you reside. Last time I also checked, Igbos didn't put a gun to your heads and force you to sell lands and other landed properties to them in the areas they dominate, they do their business and pay their taxes...I don't see all these energy and noise for Fulani herdsmen that are forcefully building clandestine communities all over your region, at least going by latest reports. |
candidtalk:Have you been to the North before? Like any part in the North South South nko? have you even traveled outside your region before? The only aspect where you at par with Igbos across the regions in Nigeria is education (and I'll still give the Igbos a slight edge here cause we have bigger populations than you people anywhere in Nigeria), every other indices whether in the private and public sectors nationwide? una no reach one bit. The only place you can boast about beating Igbos considerably is your region, and not by impressive margins for that matter cause Igbos are significantly present in whatever areas you hold sway in your region. |
LegendHero:I can only preen the infometric data for Nigeria students in the undergrad and graduate programs for IT, pharmD, Nursing, Public Health, Humanities/arts here in California, I have no info for ATL. I'll open a new thread in a bit and tag you, so we should rest these noise once and for all. I hope you have your lists available, even in GIT and GSU, I can guarantee you the best Nigerian students from all recent academic calendars were Igbos on the higher number index, with Yorubas grappling for second place. |
LegendHero:Do you have access to the academic database for previous and recent undergrad and grad programs for schools in ATL (I'm sure you can get those from the school catalogs online)?, post just one academic year, and let's compile all the Nigerians in all the fields, release your own make I release my own I'm game bro. |
candidtalk:You can never beat the East when it comes to commerce, property ownerships, civil service, education in any part of the South South and North Even in the diaspora it's the same story Other Nigerians especially Northerners are heavily present in the East, they buy lands here and develop them into small communities... Enugu is fast becoming a cosmopolitan state as a result of influxes of many foreign and local investors. Your people are the myopic and starkly ignorant ones who NEVER travel out to see and explore the other sides of reality besides the nonsense they read online about the East, na only UK una dey run go. There's no point arguing with a man who's mind and perceptions are precluded on ignorance and lack of exposure, that's why the Igbos will always top you in all indices all over Nigeria except in your region. |
LegendHero:Dude I live in the USA AND I'M CHALLENGING YOU to prove to me that Yorubas top the indices among the Nigerians in any field of academia, I CHALLENGE YOU! na fool you dey follow talk? I challenge you to name any academic landscape or terrain in whatever major/field right now among all the top HBCU's, Ivy leagues, private schools, state schools etc name it and I'll deny you with even more cognitively researched facts. All the top graduating lists for Undergrad, graduate and doctorate programs in all the majors you can think of almost invariably has Igbos/Yorubas and other South South tribes especially Edos among the preponderance of names, but Igbos always have the edge on a cumulative average. I go to school in UC San Diego here in California, and I have access to a good catalog of academic years of all semesters for all the graduating sets for both UC's, CSU's and even the high schools here in California, and I can guarantee you that if you see 10 Nigerian names of the best performing students orchestrated for scholarship programs, at least 5 of those names are Igbo sounding names. And I'm sure the same applies for other top schools across the states as well. |
candidtalk:Noise noise noise. Ogbeni you can't invest in the East because the level of competition is too high there, and the cost of living is higher compared to your region. All these your yarns na just tales by moonlight. Lots of your brothers and sisters are plenty in the East, especially in Enugu, Owerri and parts of Anambra... even Obigbo in PH where I come from, na your people plenty here mostly doing artisan works, cabu cabu and other semi-skilled forms of labor... The problem with your Yorubas is that your people HARDLY travel out except to the UK... so your views and perceptions of others is very tunnel-visioned to a spectrum of sheer ignorance and myopia. Travel out and see your people all over the East! the most popular stock in trade of your people here in the East is hawking agbo jedi jedi in motor parks. In every part of Nigeria, in the South South regions and far North Igbos have 10x more properties, economic presence and commercial monopoly than your people (FACTS NOT FEELINGS). Even in the so called USA and UK, Yorubas CAN NEVER out-compete the Igbos in any area and indices of accomplishments whether in education, political appointments, sports, etc you name it! I'll give you a slight advantage in the UK cause you have the highest ethnic demography in Nigeria/Africa... but anywhere else? No fuccking way mate. |
I no dey even pay attention to the fight, na that kele on white with better nyansh I dey gauge well well. |
StreetFight:I agree, much h to your credit you people are very tolerant. Yorubas are the most liberal people you will ever come across... I see a peaceful Yoruba Muslim married to a Christian, and then I see a violent Hausa/Fulani fanatic who is ready to behead anybody at the slightest provocation... and then I wonder if these two sets of people practice the same faith? |
But where the lie though? It's common knowledge that the Northerners regard their Yoruba Muslim brethren as "infidels" just as much as they see other Christians. They treat their fellow Yoruba Muslims as inferiors, I doubt if a Yoruba Imam can even lead the prayers in the mosque, even in the Southwest. |
flokii:You do know they slaughter your people up North as well right? Don't be so naive and daft to think it's just a one sided affair, any and every Southerner in the North is an easy target when their religious madness starts, especially Christians, Aboki no dey discriminate between Igbos, Edo, Ijaw and Yoruba etc.. You are all "Nyamiri" to them. The only reason Igbos seem to take more of the brunt is because of their huge commercial presence all over the North compared to other demographics, plus we are probably the only Southerners that join ranks with the Christian natives in the North to fight back, anyone who has lived in the North especially during the religious crisis years can confirm that. |
Last time I visited and toured major cities in the East, I marveled at the explosive rate of urban and top class real estate developments taking place, every square mile of distance covered even in the remotest areas were nicely built houses, road networks and even street lights lining some major roads in the inner cities... and no be government work ooo, this were done by INDIVIDUALS who gave their communities the best face-lifts you can imagine... I went to Mbaise and the type of architectural designs and edifices I saw were clear indications that the owners of these mansions were based abroad... I mean the concepts alone were profoundly foreign. And many more areas like Owerri, Akwa, Arondizuogu, Akokwa, Abriba etc, all rolled out breathtaking landscapes, all projects done and undertaken by single individuals in most cases. And then I asked myself, "if Igbos are this blessed with people and wealth home and abroad... THEN WHY THE FUCCK CAN'T WE COME HOME EN MASSE AND INVEST?" The question set a myriad of questions that ran riot in my head... Although I'm loving the think-home mindset lots of Igbos especially the young ones are beginning to adopt, as I see many of our people abroad massively investing and creating jobs in the East, as opposed to the unwise trend of doing so in other regions... But we can definitely do better, we are far from perfect... but boy have we got an enormous reserve of untapped human resources in Igboland, Igbos seriously need to start thinking home... I won't say more than this. |
EgunMogaji2:Amen brother ![]() |
LegendHero:And you're not the only people who are successful, stop these chest beating vain-glorious and overused cliches already. Your people that were been social nuisances over bags of garri and bread represent the true image of what every average Nigerian suffers, real successful people don't need to beat their chests about it, that's just plain narcissistic and dumb. Na for internet dem dey prove success? I doubt any successful man will have the time to spend more than two hours on the cyberspace when he has bigger and better goals to meet. |
LegendHero:There's a time to be civil, and there's a time to be mad... so far the level of interaction on here has been nothing short of sensible and rational heads on one hand vs Ojuelegba Ill-bred touts on the other. Ok now, let's all fucck up these thread then, since we all want to be mad at the same time. |
The irony of these thread has exposed one fact so far, and it's that yoruubas are actually the very emotional and rash people and not the Igbos they accuse of been too emotional blah blah blah . Let every viewer or neutral observer take note on how , Nowenuse and other non-yoruubas on here are arguing with more calm, tact, and maturity... while the other parties are arguing like unbridled touts straight from Ojuelegba Bridge...just throwing insults and tantrums around like high school degenerates smh... |
