Politics / Herdsmen Attacks: Ogun Traditional Rulers Write Army Over Alleged Connivance by Tobrasky: 9:34pm On Jan 17, 2021 |
Herdsmen attacks: Ogun traditional rulers write Army over alleged connivance LATEST NEWS By Olayinka Olukoya - Abeokuta On Jan 17, 2021 Traditional rulers in Ketu communities in Yewa North Local Government have written petition to the authorities of the Nigerian Army, over alleged connivance of some officers with herders to harass their subjects. The traditional rulers in a petition dated January 7, 2021, alleged that herders invaded Iselu; Ibeku; Agbon-Ojodu and Asa communities with soldiers and molested their people, on December 19, 2020. The traditional rulers were the Oniggua of Iggualand, Oba Micheal Dosumu; the Eselu of Iseluland, Oba Akintunde Akinyemi and the Alademeso of Igan Alade, Oba Gabriel Olalowo. The traditional rulers in the petition alleged that about10 soldiers suspected to be from 35 Artillery Brigade of the Nigerian Army, Alamala, accompanied the herders to the affected villages. In the letter, the traditional rulers said that the herders and the soldiers stormed Ibeku village in a vehicle belonging to the Army and proceeded to the residence of the village head. “The Baale was asked to gather his subjects and people from nearby villages which he did. The suspected soldiers told the people that the purpose of their visit was to inform them that the Fulani herders would be coming into their communities to graze cows. Thus, the soldiers would ensure that there was no breakdown of law and order. “After their address, they asked if anyone had a question or comment to make in reaction to the information. Expectedly, One Mr Seye Mulero responded by calling the attention of the soldiers to the inherent challenges of allowing the herders in their Communities based on the sad previous experiences in the community. “That the said Seye Mulero further cited past killings, maiming and destruction of farms to buttress his point. Sadly, at this point, the soldiers seized him and mercilessly beat him up. ALSO READ: Air Task Force destroys six gun trucks, neutralized scores of terrorists in Borno ― DHQ “In the same manner, the Fulani herders in the company of the suspected Soldiers left Ibeku for Asa, the adjoining village to address the Baale of Asa and his subjects as they had earlier done at Ibeku. Shockingly to the soldiers after their address, the people refused to respond, having heard what transpired at Ibeku. “However, one of the Fulani herders sighted some of the people in the audience and picked on them as those that purportedly shouted on them at Ibeku while brutalising their victim (Seye Mulero). The herders asked the soldiers to also deal with them. “On hearing this, the people took to their heels. However, one Gabriel Mulero was not so lucky enough as the soldiers grabbed him and ruthlessly assaulted him. He was whisked away in their pick-up vehicle to Agbon-Ojodu, another adjoining village where they compelled the Baale to assemble his subjects for a forceful briefing. “It was at Agbon Ojodu that the said Gabriel Mulero was dropped off from the Army pick-up following pleadings by some community leaders,” the petition read. They asked the military authority to identify, investigate and prosecute the suspected soldiers for the alleged connivance and involvement in the attacks on the villagers by the Fulani herdsmen. The traditional rulers informed that the Police were aware of the accusation against the soldiers. The traditional rulers further said the State Commissioner of Police, Edward Ajogun had on January 3, brokered a meeting over the matter at the Police Divisional Headquarters, Eggua. https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&source=web&rct=j&url=https://tribuneonlineng.com/herdsmen-attacks-ogun-traditional-rulers-write-army-over-alleged-connivance/amp/&ved=0ahUKEwijw7T256PuAhXJG80KHY6fAwg4ChDIzwEISzAF&usg=AOvVaw2sPO84eocVmAwy-ahH8Qd0&cf=1 |

All you've done here is present wild, redundant and inadmissibly wild theories with no documented facts or proof...na so dem dey take claim land for Bini?so you just show up to a man's land after drenching yourselves in astute streaks of delusions, falsehoods and some revisionist nonsense stories probably fed to you by your ogogoro drinking parents and ancestors with alzheimer's disease. So after all this long epistles, essays, PowerPoint presentations, historical jagbajantis and thesis writing... na who come get Lagos? For my Bini brothers remember say no be person wey first enter land dey get case for ownership ... I'm sure there were indigenous people/aborigines that you met in Eko if your claim that you were there before the Yorubas is true... If that be the case; who were these indigenous people in question? and which language did they speak etc 1 Like |

Tales of horror from Ekiti forests where kidnappers maim, kill victims Cases of kidnapping are becoming worrying in the South-West with kidnappers having a field day in Ekiti State. It’s a miraculous story for one of the kidnap victims, sixty-three-year-old retiree, Mr Taiwo Davies, who spent about a week in the den of kidnappers after he was abducted on Friday, November 16, 2019 axis along Ikere–Akure Road. Davies said, “Kidnappers don’t move in the daytime. Immediately they kidnap someone, they would move to the bush in that environment, but the following day, at about 7pm when they know people are no longer on the farms, they would move to another place. Crime / Amotekun Killed My Cousin, Shot Five Others In Our Family House –eyewitness by Tobrasky: 3:01pm On Jan 16, 2021 |
Amotekun killed my cousin, shot five others in our family house –Eyewitness Qudus Odugbemi tells OLUFEMI OLANIYI in this interview how his cousin, Rasaq Odugbemi, who sat in front of his family house, was allegedly shot dead by Amotekun corps attempting to disperse Tapa youths during a carnival What is your name and who is Rasaq Odugbemi to you? My name is Qudus Odugbemi. (The late) Rasaq is my cousin. How old was Rasaq and what was his occupation? He was 20 years old. He had completed his secondary school education and had applied to a higher institution; I think the polytechnic in Abeokuta. He was supposed to sit the entrance exam into the institution on Monday, January 11 but he was killed by Amotekun just few days to that. How was he killed? We were all at our family house in Tapa that fateful night. We all normally go there because that is where we grew up. We would leave the place around 9pm for our various houses. On that day, at around 6pm, I saw some youths preparing for a street carnival. I knew that there was not supposed to be any carnival this period because of the security situation in the state and especially in our area (Ibarapa). I called the DJ and asked him what was going on. He told me that they had the permission of the government to hold the carnival till 9:30pm. I am not sure of his claim but I told them that they must leave latest by the time he said they were given. Around 9pm, I left my cousin at the family house and I decided to go to my house. He was sitting down at our family house. As I was going I met the Amotekun corps coming towards the venue of the carnival. They drove recklessly into the midst of the youths at the venue of the carnival and this approach infuriated the people there. You know everybody cannot reason the same way, some of the youths started challenging the Amotekun corps and asking, ‘Do you want to kill us? Do you want to crush us with your vehicle?’ Many of them (youths) were drunk anyway. They said the time was 9pm and they had the permission to stay there till 9:30pm. This resulted in a heated argument and one of the Amotekun personnel brought out his gun and threatened that the youths would be shot. The youths became more angry and started saying, “Are we animals? Shoot us now.” That was how one of the Amotekun corps shot at the crowd and about eight persons fell to the ground. They were shot on the legs and they were injured. How many people died from the incident? Five persons were shot and injured in front of our house alone. When they saw what happened, the angry youths started throwing more stones at the Amotekun personnel. That was when one of the Amotekun men pointed his gun towards our family house and fired gunshots in that direction. Five persons in front of our family house were hit by bullets. My cousin, Rasaq, was hit on the chest and he fell down. There was also a lady, Aishat Odugbemi, who was hit under her breast; another lady, Faida, I don’t know her surname, was hit on the leg. A bullet hit one old man on the leg as well. In all, five persons were hit in front of our family house. Crime / Two Die As Farmers, Herdsmen Clash In Oyo Community by Tobrasky: 11:48am On Jan 16, 2021 |
Two Die As Farmers, Herdsmen Clash In Oyo Community Two farmers in Igangan, Ibarapa North Local Government area of Oyo State, on Friday, were killed by suspected Fulani herdsmen after an indigene of the area, Sunday Adeyemo, popularly called Sunday Igboho, stormed the area to warn the Seriki Fulani, Alhaji Saliu Kadri, against the mindless killings of the natives of the community. Saharareporters gathered that hoodlums shot two other people in Oke Itunu, Ibadan North Local Government Area of the state on Friday. Police Public Relations Officer, Olugbenga Fadeyi, confirmed the two incidents. Igangan, Ayete, Tapa and other Fulani settlements in Ibarapa have recorded kidnapping cases in recent times. A resident of Igangan told SaharaReporters that Sunday Igboho went to the settlement of the Seriki to confront him. Igboho accused the Fulani leader of being responsible for the crises in the area. Following this, it was learnt that some of the Seriki boys trooped out and attacked the Yoruba farmers on their way from their farms. The PPRO said, "Today, ( Friday) at about 6 pm, the popular Sunday Igboho from Igboho town stormed the Fulani camp at Igangan with his men in four Hilux pickup vans and attacked the people, injuring four persons. "He then warned them to vacate the camp in seven days or be forcefully evicted. The injured were taken to the hospital for treatment. Police patrol vehicle has been deployed in the area. An investigation has commenced into the matter." Similarly, two people were also reportedly killed by hoodlums in Oke Itunu area of Ibadan North local government of Ibadan, the state capital. Saharareporters gathered that the development forced some residents of Coca Cola, Leventis, Ajibade, Ajegunle, Oke- Itunu and neighbouring communities to desert their homes and shops. Fadeyi noted that the police had stationed its men in the area to avert a crisis. He said, "The information I have is that they set ablaze a man suspected to be a thief Thursday morning. "Later, three men suspected to be cultists went on an attack and shot one Ojo Jacob, said to be about 58 years old, and ran away." https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&source=web&rct=j&url=http://saharareporters.com/2021/01/16/two-die-farmers-herdsmen-clash-oyo-community&ved=0ahUKEwjG2_DOoqDuAhW1On0KHf1rDbgQxfQBCEAwAw&usg=AOvVaw0RZbaAmYIJj78NXWILavv5 |
