Praying for someone more successful than you is not in line with the proverb you stated. Because am richer than my friend, that doesn’t mean they can’t pray for me. Praying for them doesn’t decrease me.

You this people self, so, if someone is already blessed, does that mean such fellow doesn’t need prayer? Or if one prayed for someone, does that mean that person isn’t praying for his or her family?

I've been struggling to make ends meet since I graduated over 3 years ago, it's been from one poor paying job to the other. Early this year I managed to convince my father to sell his land and give me a million naira from the money. He wanted me to travel out but I had to inform him that travelling even to an African country is now very expensive which 1 or even 2 million won't be able to process.

I decided to invest the money into mini importation from a Chinese site 1688 which I learnt here on
Nairaland. I tasted the waters by importing cheap necklaces but they weren't of good quality so I decided to try again. I imported wigs and they were better because I was able to realize at least 6k profit on each of them but then sales was a bit slow since I didn't really have the customer base for wigs.

After the wigs I imported boyfriend jeans since I was already into jeans business before and it is a trendy stuff that I won't have much problem selling. Before I ordered I checked reviews, longevity of the seller on the site and other checks. After due diligence I ordered 200 pairs of jeans from 3 different vendors. An agent that I met on Nairaland helped me to make payments while I took care of the shipping myself.

I waited apprehensively for about two months for the goods to arrive because unlike the first two orders which I used air freight I used sea cargo due to the weight of the shipment. During the wait I reached out to prospective buyers with the samples and videos that I got from the vendors. The goods finally arrived Nigeria early this month and spent over a week under customs clearance. Within this period my parents had been checking in occasionally to know the progress of the business.

The goods arrived the shipping company's warehouse on Friday and I had plead with my dad to borrow me a refundable 235,0000 to clear the goods which will be paid immediately I start making sales. I sent my brother who's a dispatcher in Lagos to help me pick up the stuff. He called me on video call when he got home and what I saw shattered my heart into a thousand pieces. My phone fell off my hand while I gasped for breath with my heart racing.

The 3 vendors sent identical goods which were as good as rags, in fact it was below okirika 3rd grade standard. Even skirts, bum shorts and plain trousers were found among the rubbish they sent, some were torn. Without mincing words, they sent damaged, old and worn out goods to me. They weren't even packaged in nylons. It was as if there was a conspiracy between the vendors.

I just watched the great hope and expectations that I had fizzle out with tears rolling down my cheeks, I wished I was dreaming but it was reality. I broke the news to my dad who was beyond disappointed in me, he regretted giving me the money and wished he had invested the money in his building project like my mom advised him when he wanted to give me the money.

On my part I'm just downcast, confused and depressed with no idea on what to do with my life. At 32 I thought I was finally up to something that will lift me out of poverty but just like several times that I've tried, I come crashing down to the ground. I feel like I'm cursed to die in suffering but anyhow it is giving up is not an option. I will still stand up and continue the struggle till I make it legitimately one way or the other.

I had to put this up here so that others can learn from my mistakes and bear in mind that those Chinese are dubious and should tread carefully when dealing with them.

I don’t know if I can meet you, their are some goods am observing that are demanding here in Nigeria. These aren’t something like wig, jewelry that most people don’t use. But good that might be as cheap as #500 and those goods are not weighty, those are the disadvantages of buying using aircargo. Me, I buy from Chinese people here in Nigeria and not from online because stuffs like this can be fraudulent.

Something of this features
Very less in weight
Very cheap there
A bit expensive here
Affordable for even commoner
Something that almost everyone use
Something that deplete, worn out, slack, finishes or
expires.

Only thing that will be common is the following, not the rubbish you posted:
Students will increase their age before entering secondary school, this can be done by forging birth certificate.
Students will result into writing GCE
Rich students will write IGSCE and leave Nigeria for better place.

Foreign university should get ready to admit more Nigerian students. A child has passed his WAEC, or NECO even both and also sat for JAMB and got the required scores, passed another huddle of post JAMB UTM and then you are coming out with another demonic policy to deprive such child his right for further his education.
This will not be rampant, how many Nigerians have money to travel out let alone schooling there.
What would be rampant are:
Forging of age and birth certificate
Massive writing of GCE
Loss in Educational enthusiasm

Naija Na war, you go wait till 18 before writing waec and neco, you might not pass till 21 yrs, you go write jamb when you don pass o level, you might not pass jamb after 3 yrs, you go enter school at 24, school fees alone would be a problem let alone feeding and living, you go dey school for 5 yrs if it’s five yrs, course, you go dey 29 yrs den, if strike dey, you go dey like 31 yrs after leaving school. Then you may realize you just wasted your time because of job pursue. You may pursue job till 40 yrs old.
It’s well.

What will students result into:
Faking birth certificate before entering secondary school, they would add to their age.
Massive writing of GCE. A lot would be writing it now.

Athens is a city full of ruins of ancient buildings and the relics of ancient gods yet, every visit to that city is always memorable. My last visit was particularly dramatic because I almost fainted while climbing the Acropolis, an ancient citadel perched atop the city of Athens. My travel companions started pouring water on me as I laid on the floor (I thought I was back in Oshodi where the first thing we do to anyone that slumps is to pour water on them).
Home to the iconic Parthenon, dedicated to the Greek goddess Athena, Erechtheion, and Propylaea, this archaeological site is the cornerstone of the ancient Greek civilization. The elevated site offers breathtaking views of the city.

Do you know that just like the European missionaries destroyed all our iconic sites, claiming they were evil, the ottoman also tried to replace the Acropolis Parthenon with a mosque? However, the Greeks were still able to preserve what was left of this monument and today, millions of tourists visit the remnants of Acropolis every year, contributing millions of euros to the Greek economy.
All over Europe, the most important tourist attractions are mainly dilapidated buildings, sometimes with history not as dramatic as the history my father relayed to me about the ancient gods in my village, yet we are paying through the nose to visit these sites, whereas the European marauders destroyed our own culture and religion for Christian civilisation while they preserved their own.
One of the greatest historical monuments in the world in the last millennium was the great wall of Benin. If that wall is located anywhere near Europe, it will be raking in nothing less than 200 million euros in tourist income annually. I’ve been to the great wall of China and I was told that the wall of Benin was even more gigantic.

What happened to our own wall in Benin? It was destroyed by the British in 1897 during the so-called Benin expedition. We now need visas to go and see smaller walls in China and they even make it look like they are doing us a favour.
have paid to visit several old buildings across the world and I usually weep whenever I remember that we also had similar buildings on 85 Odunfa street, Lagos (lle awo si fila) or even Branco house on 27 Kakawa street, lagos. These old buildings should be generating millions in tourist dollars for our ailing economy by now. They were all pulled down for pennies.

I usually marvel at the ignorance of people that make jest of the ancient city of Ibadan because of the predominant red roof buildings across the town. Those houses need to be preserved and maintained in their original state. Pulling them down for skyscrapers will destroy the heritage. People will one day pay to come and see those red roofs.
When you become a seasoned traveller, you suddenly realise no one wants to visit a place to see other skyscrapers like New York. People want to visit historical centres, preserved ancient cultures, as well as religious centres.
We abandoned our culture and our religion for foreign cultures and allowed them to destroy our heritage. I am a Christian but If I have the opportunity today, I will prosecute everyone, including my ancestors, who allowed them to destroy the monuments of our culture including the relics of Orunmila, Ogun, sango, Ifa and other symbols of our culture and ancient religion.

The highlight of my last visit to Tokyo was a visit to the Asakusa temple, an Hindu temple. The Europeans that destroyed our own religion saying it was evil were all over the temple making a wish with coins in the temple as tourists. That temple receives 30 million tourists per year.

No one respects you when you abandon your own for theirs. Our youths are following in the footsteps of our ancestors with this JAPA SYNDROME. They condemn everything about their home country, display European and Canadian passports as trophies online while bad mouthing their motherland. They now wonder why South Africans don’t respect them or why they find it so hard to get a visa to go and become glorified housemaids to an average westerner who are probably less educated than they are.

There is dignity in labour no doubt but there is no dignity in abandoning your heritage and culture for others.

In the next fifty years, what will be left of our culture? We are selling our ancestral lands to build banks. We are abandoning our schools to develop the educational sector of the UK with the money bled from our economy. We are shipping our youths on voluntary slave trade to develop Europe.

When our children look back in the next century to see what we leave behind for them as a heritage, nothing will be left if care is not taken.

Japa is not an achievement. It is just a temporary solution that brings a lot of underdevelopment to our society. We need to start reversing the trend as a matter of national priority.

Dr Olusola Omoju is a researcher cum public affairs analyst.

No heritage is being lost, between living a good life or maintaining fore fathers heritage, which should be prioritized. No heritage lost baba, those that are still there will continue growing the culture. The percentage that have left Nigeria for abroad five years ago till now is not up to 1 percent of the Nigeria said population. So, anyone wey want to leave should leave. Na you they feed them?
Abi Yoruba no dey Brazil, Cuba, Trinidad and tobacco, and them they do their culture over their.

Crime / Re: Scammers Using Sponsored Ads On Facebook And Instagram To Scam Nigerians by Tohsynetita1: 7:29pm On Aug 21
kingthreat:
Few weeks ago, while browsing on facebook, I saw a sponsored advert of a farm selling packaged spiced goat meat for 10k. On the post I saw alot of likes and comments of people asking how they can get it. I checked the page selling it and saw that there were different products offered including bushmeat, full chicken, guinea fowl, etc. I messaged the number on whatsapp and I was responded to. The person showed me pictures. I even called the person for confirmation and he did pick. He then sent the account number, I paid and he confirmed. I dropped

my address as well. After 2 hours of no word, I messaged and he didn't respond on whatsapp. On a closer look on his facebook page, all I could see was anger reactions. Someone posted calling him a scammer but that post got deleted within minutes. That was when I knew I was defrauded.

After this happened, I reported the page to Facebook. Can you believe Facebook sent me a report the next day saying that the page did not break any guidelines and they did not take down the page?

From this it is obvious that Scammers are using the facebook platform to scam Nigerians. And facebook is indirectly encouraging it by allowing their ads and doing nothing about negative reports. For now I will advice everyone avoids sponsored ads from newly created facebook pages.

It’s with their policy, anybody can be lied against, their is nothing to show that he scammed you. So, that’s what they will reply. What if you were lying against him? How will Facebook know. What I do is any money I don’t need and won’t be sad if wasted is what I trade with online.

All you're saying doesn't matter
All I notice is that guys are pained that she's in a relationship because they already plan to take advantage of her
If you want to help, just help. Even married couples at a point in time will seek for help from people. Doesn't mean coz they are married they can't seek for help from other people
A 23 yr old lady, what do u expect? To be single?
Even if she has a fiance, can he provide everything for her? She's even trying not to depend on him.
You guys are now complaining saying her bf should provide for her.
I'm sure if she doesn't state that, unserious folks could av bombard her DM
Majority of 23 year old are through or going through NYSC. So, u mean they shouldn't seek for employment assistance from the public as long they are into a relationship with a man
Even if they'll be having sex, that's none of anyone business. She's mature to do whatever she want, but seeking for employment assistance means she's responsible and doesn't want to depend on anyone to put food on her table
That’s her problem but if she continue presenting her case like this, she might not see helper. It’s not everyone that want to have sex with her. Presenting such case with partners shows she’s not serious to some people. She didn’t need to add partner at all. Even if a woman want to help her and heard such, they might not help her anymore. You have partner that you cannot leave to go and hustle probably for a while? That shows you might not be serious. Even sometimes, married people leave their zone to hustle.

It's not the responsibility to cater for her...

If they aren't married.

You don't know if the guy isn't settled yet.

They is nothing absolutely wrong in starting from a humble beginning. If both of them decide to start a future and grow together. Things will get better.

You people will give this mentality then when girls start leashing on guys they are dating to provide all their needs you guys will turn around to blame them. Now a girl wants to be useful to herself and industrious or hardworking and you telling her to go depend or leach on her boyfriend. Even if the guy is Dangote she should not work? Times have changed o. And the economy isn't smiling.

It's like many people don't know what they even want.

23 years is not too young to date or have a partner. I think it's even a good time.

Nothing wrong in what the lady posted. I thought it was even good she included that because Alot of guys may want to take advantage and she already played it clearly she has a partner.

It worked because those that would demand or try to take advantage already showed their intentions and are backing out.

Who will help would not consider if she is in a relationship or not.

What do you need a person's relationship status for to provide her a job if your intentions are genuine?
I know but that statement she put might show something like “ responsibility” for having such. We view things differently, some people might think na sex them they do for that relationship and that’s what’s making her unserious with her life.

It’s like a man that has a phone worth of 2 million and begging for 50k school fees, some people might think , if he’s serious he should go and sell that phone. But if he didn’t mention phone at all, it’s.

What they commenters are thinking is why will you not be able to cater for someone you dey date. If you can’t, their should not be more connections to the extent that she won’t be able to move to other places to hustle.
