The Agusta 109e is a light utility helo The 109k is the military variant which can be used for various roles like CAS, medevac, insertion and extraction, transport e.t.c which makes it a multi role helo end of discussion...... |
Foreign Affairs › Re: African Militaries/ Security Services Strictly Photos Only And Videos Thread by Toju200(m): 11:37am On Jan 26, 2020 |
kabe1: You have lost the plot.
As the Kenyan MD-530F shows, the role of the helicopter defines it's designation.
AW-109K's in the Nigerian air force are used primarily as CAS platforms, hence the designation as an attack helicopter.
The A-109e is used as a utility, MEDVAC in the Nigerian Air Force hence it's designation as a utility helicopter.
Military equipments across the world have different designations according to the roles they are used.
Japan's IZUMO class aircraft carries are called helicopter carries, despite the fact they can deploy F-35s.
The Nigerian army refers to MRAPs with heavy machine guns as armoured fighting vehicles because they are not used as troop transports, instead fire support vehicles.
The 45 meters vessel the Nigerian navy is currently building is referred to as a seaward defence boat, other countries refer to it as an IPV or MPV.
In Algeria, their 60 meters locally built vessels armed with anti-ship missiles, CIWS and 76mm gun is referred to as a Corvette, but in other countries they are missile boats. In Nigeria we would refer to a 60 meters vessel as a seaward defence boat.
Designations for military equipments are not cast in stone, equipment designations change depending on the country using them. As for the izumo class carrier it's still remains a helicopter carrier it's just an Improvised means for deploying the F35 since it's VTOL capable. |

Odunayaw: yeah, this is Proforce old brochure (2014-16 times) But I am on the pessimistic sides. Things don't usually go out as planned "in brochures".
For instance, in that same brochure we see a 6×6 mrap which is actually Nexter Titus mrap that never materialized or should I say came as ARA I'm sure they are just helping nexter market their MRAP just like the Remoeye drone they are helping South Korea market |

kabe1: They are not developing any Tank. Building a Tank requires experience and skilled manpower in Tank assembly.
Toju200 is a 17 year old kid. He needs time to mature, to gain an understanding that building a tank is a lot more than printing a T-90 on a magazine. you're tweeting without thinking bro. When I say it's under development I never said it will be unveiled soon.it may take years, and weeks of Auto Cad design.they decided to put the t90 tank on their brochure because no official design has been set.. |
