It is shameful that you even have to explain.

An entrepreneur spent billions building our only functional refinery at home and employing thousands of our own citizens to supply products we all badly need. You'd think every Nigerian would be bashing anyone standing in his way. But look how we're treating him.

In countries that have sense, we'd be naming airports and monuments after him.

I'll help you (a little) wink

1. Nigeria spends an estimated $10billion annually on round trip of refining petroleum produce.
2. Nigeria spends an estimated $7billion annually on subsidizing petroleum produce because of #1.
3. DR will bring much needed FX through export of petroleum produce.
4. Nigeria spends billions on fertilizer imports yearly. At about 3MT/year, DR will satisfy local needs and still have enough for export.
5. DR currently exports most of their aviation jet fuel and diesel.
6. The burden on our Excess Crude Account will be reduced...

If all those needless imports are removed (or reduced by over 50%) the improvement will be very visible... smiley

I wonder o! That is what I thought I. Kindly play this one that I made-https://audiomack.com/toluway/song/no-gree-for-the-monkeys-rats-and-snakes-1?share-user-id=79208586

I just shared how you can make your children to be interested in the stock market. They will be interested when they see the assets one is buying through the capital market.

By the way I don't have Oando and I have no regret about that. I sold all my shares in the company at an average price of N24 in 2024 and I have invested the proceeds into other stable stocks

Unless you are an insider don't have more than 20% of your portfolio invested in one stock.

You are a veteran in this business, you should not be found doing follow follow

Emanuelewumi Is no doubt a veteran of no mean order. Toluway is not. It's not my thing. I'm too hasty and impatient. I always make mistakes. However, God has been doing incredible things in my life. I always see you as a consistently focused, technically efficient, research oriented and very disciplined trader. And why dropping your position on any stock, the thunder rumbles. But the issue I have with you is you probably think everyone is like you. See yourself as a biggy that can help the weak.

The truth is that most of the richest people in the world today are connected with stock trading.
So if you really want to be a member of the global economic movers, you wouldn't want to shy away from the enterprise.
That is why I am trying to bring my children in. I think I should do so now with stronger determination. I think your posts here has made me to be more determine.
I would now follow Michael bumper to bumper, helping them to get disillusioned early enough. It is not all about designing softwares. Not all about work.
Thank you. I so much appreciate you freely dispensed resource.

How about buying a property and letting them know that you used your Oando loot to buy it.

Income generating asset acquisition is not a one off thing, but a continuous venture
Actually, stock trading is not my main business. I'm not even good at it. I don't have the patience to do all the research. Though I should focus on high dividend stocks, and I have been getting a lot of money from dividends these days, though, I have about 12m stupidly tied down on dsnsugar and salt because I did follow- follow.. You can imagine how much dividends that amount could have fetched me from zenith bank, uba or UCAP, GTB. That's destiny. I move on. Ondo, you guys have been talking about Oando for the past 7 years. Disgusting. I have nothing to do with it. Though it's fetching you money now, you know one can also be lucky in gambling at times. Court cases and adjournments for how many years? And you still reckon with such stock amid tens of respectable companies!

Buy tangible asset and let them know you bought it courtesy of the stock market, if you get good dividends let them know you got it through a stock bought many years ago at a ridiculous low price

Let them know about passive income and the need to have different streams of income.

My old man became interested in the stock market, when I pledged my shares as collateral when he desperately needed a loan to complete one of his properties. Loan was approved within a week, whereas they have been trying to perfect a lien on a property he planned using as collateral for the past 12 months without any success.

Let them know the importance of having investment in the capital market and they will be interested
Haba! How would I not have assets? They know all these. I'm not a small man o.

challenging when it comes to giving suggestions to family issue, please take this one sided opinion with grain of salt as the line i have towed to avoid issues in the future. Here goes my 2 cents to chip in.

From your write up the kids you mentioned seem to be doing good for themselves. Don't force them, all you can do is introduce them to the idea and be open to answer whatever questions they have.

Always believe adults based on their first response and action, this will save you stress. Considering the 2 offspring you have reached out to are not interested, if you have another, reach out to see if he/she is interested. If no one is interested, It is high time to start to look into setting up a trust (you don't have to be deca/ centi millionaire to set one up ), make up your mind what you want to leave for your wife/ husband first, then the kids , dear relatives and institution you hold dear to heart can also be your beneficiary.

Your conversation with the firm will guide how the assets will be structured revocable or irrevocable trust (if you are a resident of multiple nations, you will have to replicate same process based on each countries estate planning law ) . It depends on how the trust is structured, You can leave a percentage of the whole asset for yourself to still manage while the trustee oversee what you want to be in their care. As your wealth increase, you can always transfer to the trust as you deem fit yearly/ biennial, etc.

Suggestion is from experience : My next of kin is in my generation, the next persons (2) in line after that are fosters (not sure they will be interested.Hence, preparing handing over the baton is smooth without issues).
Hopefully everything works out for you big man/ woman.
Thanks for your time. You're right. I shouldn't force them.

How many of them ready to learn anything serious?

Let us face it, many kids from average to affluence homes feel a large level of entitlement particularly when you thought you were doing the right thing allowing them enjoy the money you worked hard for and give them a life you did not have.

Some even take it a step further and start turning gay because in your benevolence, you send them go abroad.

I asked my eldest son to join us here , that I would give him money to invest, to enable him get used to stock investing. I've been urging him for years but up till now, he has not responded. He is busy going around with laptop with animations game application application.
Recently, I turned to the youngest one and asked him to start the same, but he said he doesn't need money now, why should he start the enterprise. Doing animation is his own passion. He is on YouTube.
Now, I'm confused. Who would I hand over to, when I'm old?
My wife no dey play with her money and even my own money, so, stock market is not the place for her.

That's a very good one from you as usual. That's why I consider averaging down in a very fundamentally strong stock to be the best strategy in the game. I say this without fear of contradiction. The best strategy that is generally taken for granted, largely because of impatience. The vulture is a patient bird.

Not at all. You are referring to translation to English please. King James did not personally translate the bible (not just the new testament but the whole bible actually), but commissioned experts to translate... Take care to do adequate research. Moreover if you disagree with King James Version for any reason, there are other English translations..
Also you did not provide the book, chapter and verse of the bolded which you claim was smuggled into the bible by king James
I'm obliged to close this matter at my own end. Members of this thread are apt to be angry with us now, as this is not a Bible discussion thread. But I have to clarify that I didn't say King James translated the Bible from whatever to whatever. I don't know who did the translation and I would always be happy to learn from you.
WHAT I said was that the king initiated and supervised the writing of the New testament. Some scholars are even saying that he actually wrote it. But I believe he wasn't likely to have written it himself.
You wouldn't expect me to quote references about this from the Bible and I'm not obliged to start referring you to authorities on this thread.
But I hereby express my apology if I have offended your religious sentimentality.

The "official" world language then was Greek due to the hellenization policy of the Greek empire led by Alexander the great and which subsisted into the Roman empire... it was the old testament that was originally written in hebrew and aramaic.. new testament was written by Jewish followers of Christ in the popular language of that time which was Greek .

Modified.. Enough of this topic for me.. make dem no talk say i dey derail thread. Just clarifying issues raised by others
Sorry to chip this in. Writing of the New Testament was initiated and supervised by a king of England, who was the official Head of Roman Catholic Church. He attempted to perpetuate his regime, and no wonder why he said, through the Bible, that rulers were made by God.

You are offering us your personal opinion and not scriptural position.. over and over again prophets had visions of God on his throne and "thousands and thousands" ministering unto him"... Paul said he was caught up to the third heaven which is the highest heaven... John in revelation said he heard a voice that said "come up hither and i shall show you what shall happen".. Jesus said in my father's house there are many mansions.. i go to prepare a place for you... Jesus told the thief.. you shall be with me in paradise. Jesus told Pilate my kingdom is not of this world, if it were my subjects (angels) would've fought... where God lived before he created heaven is best known to him and i don't need to bother myself about.. i don't have to know everything...

Heaven is a planet in a different realm and dimension.. not physical but material
All made up by the Greeks for Africans, Original transcript writers, before it was translated to Jewish language couldn't be traced by historians and archeologists.

It seems like the seasonal bull is warming up. What do you think?

I will not join those who advise newbies that they can only get good knowledge and clarifications in this forum if they take the pain to go and start from page one and read to the latest page. That to me is unrealistic as it amounts to being asked to read close to eight thousand pages before one can correctly invest. Even those who have been on this thread right from the day it was created cannot say they still don't make mistakes in investment decisions.
What therefore matters in my own opinion is for you to just always follow this thread henceforth while occasionally searching for specific past pages on any particular information or knowledge you want. For example, of you wish to find information on, say, stocks that pay dividends consistently, just go to Google and type that in the search bar and after typing you add Nsempa Nairaland to it and it will take you to the specific pages in which such was once discussed here. That is how I scout for information on this thread.
Deadly true! Thanks so much for the courageous truth. Many members here started trading without learning from any tread, so newbies have the added advantage of being here.
The knowledge that is being acquired from day 1 of joining the tread and days afterwards in addition with your little mistakes would go a long way in developing a newbie. Experience is the best teacher.
However , newbies are advised to start Trading with little funds before attempting to aim for the big kill.
When my generation started trading a couple of decades ago, while we knew very little about stock trading and were buying through the brokers, we used to buy popular stocks like Union Bank, First Bank, etc, and were not even losing, until 2008 episode started teaching us some lessons.
