The fact is I'm more gentle and tolerant than an average nigerian. It goes beyond an ordinary question as you think. Please read my past post on this.
I have overly apologised and i thought you've forgiven me for this.
Overdose of coffee tea yesterday morning was actually to blame.
Once again, sir Emmanuel, please forgive and forget.

I would continue to overlook things as i have been doing.

See so much bitterness in you. In my opinion i think this is an over reaction. He asked you a simple question you can give a simple answer to.

Like you said, the sky is big enough for everyone.

The question he asked was to stimulate a discussion not to throw insults.

We are all here to learn and rub minds together, no one knows it all
Thanks for your observation.
I don't know him; why should I be bitter?
Try to dig a little bit into the root of the matter before you judge me.

I actually over-reacted; and my vetuperation was unwarranted and unnecessary. I'm very sorry house.

I actually became paranoid because he has in the past, in a couple of occasions insulted me because I made a comment.
He can't claim he doesn't know me in this house for a long time; so asking me when i started trading could be pregnant with meaning.
I regret my outburst and I'm sorry.

Oga Tolu, does someone have to be a Technocrat to invest? Lol.
@Phlinx outrightly condemned investing as a whole.

Seems some are looking at the worst aspect of loosing money. What about the best part too?

Earlier sited a relative's loss on UBN purchased at much higher price.......but there was another good investment also made in Nestle.
NESTLE was purchased @254 naira. Today, Nestle is trading above N1,000.......over 15 years of collecting dividends....... Whatever is left there is all gain now, and Gain Is giving way for more gains.

Well, let me leave the discussion for the elders who's been on the investment path with divers experiences to comment on..... smiley

Btw, Oga Wanaj0 long time sir.
Above scenario is the advantage of long term diversification, if you're into it. Name it, my sister has it in her basket grin

Based on your last line, what do you consider as an investment then?
Sorry to say this, Otomatic. These dividends we are getting, is it not rubbish? You invest million in a company and get # undecided in a whole year! Even after the company has made 70% profit!
My brother, if one really wants to invest, surely not nse and the likes. I think nse is for arm-chair, white collar investors. I am an example of such anyway, because i don't have less than #* in nse. I restrain myself from putting figures to prevent being misunderstood.
Investment / Re: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by Toluway: 3:32pm On Nov 21
I pencilled some stocks for long term investment a couple of months ago and gtco and zenith are not among. This is because both stocks have been Ranging and not really performing for over 5 years now, when the highest either of them has ever gone is #35 or thereabout.
I don't see why someone should base his investment merely on dividend payment in a very inflationary economic collectivity like ours.
I would rather diversify on about 20 stocks of good fundamentals so that the ones who choose to grow among them would make for the static or falling ones; call it a very conservative or ancient strategy if you like. Gt and Zenith has been on range for few years back. Above is strictly my personal opinion please.

Now that almost everyone is hoarding and doing dollar business; which mechanism can be set to motion to stop it? It seems any amount of dollar coming into the system would be swallowed by the new anaconda; and it's scarcity and rise would continue.
This country is doomed! And for a country without intelligent, forthright and patriotic leaders, the only weapon we have now is prayers.
Let's see how far this miracle of Naira appreciation could go, without a concomitant government policy.
Lest i forget; good morning all, i wish you an eventful and happy new week.

I just dey laugh with all the motivational talks of Naira appreciating and rates getting to 415.

It is my prayer it goes down so I can buy more $$ with my dividend early next year.
Nothing has changed in the financial book of the country that suggest dollar will be stable.

Who ever bought ~#550 should not have any worry. They've moved the official rate from #315 to #440 in the last 2 years.

Very few have the patience and the wisdom to use your strategy. It takes more than a decade to know. I vouch to say the strategy is the only guaranteed trajectory.
However, i discovered that one should avoid ranging stocks while picking stocks and diversifying for long term.
I can write a thesis analysing the unbeatable Long Term Basket strategy, and it's potential gains. My now permanent strategy.
You're a worthy mentor.
Long live Nigeria.
I was actually referring to Agbalowomeri, whose strategy I've under-studied over the years. I always confuse emmanuelewumi with Agbalowomeri. It seems like the former uses the same strategy as the latter(Agba)
I also know that emmanuelewumi could drag me straightaway, just because i made a comment he didn't like, or for dare commenting at all. He did so over and over.
These two are legendary investors that should be under-studied by young investors. However, it requires great courage. Long live Agba and elewumi.

Exactly.

I am strictly an income Investor, I can create growth for myself by diversifying using the dividends or reinvesting in the same company, but the dividend must come first.

I give myself a minimum yield on cost of 30% after holding a dividend paying stock for 10 years

Naira appreciated because of U.S. threat against those hoarding Dollars all over the world, particularly in Nigeria- Sen. Shehu Musa. I share his view.

On the Nigerian exchange floor, the lowest amount you can buy a stock is 10% less of its last closing price. Additionally, the highest amount you can sell a stock is 10% more of its last closing price. Hence, currently, you can't buy PRESCO less than N142.60

In the case of PRESCO:
Current price is 158.40;
Minimum cost price is 142.60 per unit;
Maximum selling price is 174.30 per unit.
Quite illuminating. Thank you.
Investment / Re: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by Toluway: 9:33am On Aug 05
Can you enlighten me on this please? For days now, Presco has been staying at #142 offer without a single bid. I've tried several times to by below 142 and ngx has been turning down my bid, saying i cant bid below #142 ; in a situation where there is 0 bid! I don't understand.

@Dum20, granted there is nothing essentially wrong if government invests and make profit.
However, you might wish to recall that investing is not actually the business of government.
You might also wish to note that the primary responsibility of government is to provide enabling environment for business to thrive, especially in provision of necessary infrastructure and social amenities like good roads, electricity, security, low interest loans/micro finance for small and midium scale industries and so on.
When government does it's own part, entrepreneurs from home and abroad would be naturally attracted to invest.
I think that is the point SonofElElyon is trying to make.

Good day house. I opened a cscs account few days ago. I thought someone said i would see details of my dividends payout and outstanding ones on the account.
But it is not so. I only see list of my stocks and a couple of lost stocks. Nothing about dividends.
It's alright though.

It seem he speculated with other people's moneys, buying businesses some of which were not even quoted on d stock exchange at the time. The markets seem to have consolidated his wealth not creat it.

Please is anyone here very close to any of the officials of African Prudential Registrar?
The desk officers have made me to send so many documents over and over again.
Now, they have refused to communicate me further on whether I have met their requirements or not.
Any time i called them, they told me they would send me a mail; and they would not.
The registrar has not been paying dividends on my stocks under their supervision for a long time.
I don't want to start taking official actions yet; you know such process can be stressful. Can anyone help?
Investment / Re: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by Toluway: 9:08am On Jul 03
Why can't we put in place a system whereby immediately you buy a stock, your broker would provide the relevant registrar with the same KYC documents you provide it while opening an account, for the registrar to process your dividend promptly as and when due?

Why do SEC, CSCS and relevant administrator continue to keep quite,
and fold their hands on this dividend issue while they continue to publish list of unclaimed dividends running to billions?
Why do Africans continue to sink in the abyss of mental and physical laziness, ineptitude, lack of vision and innovation !?
Our political leaders are just a reflection of the larger society. A bundle of fatty-pot-bellied and fat-headed morons.
You write the registrars, no response, you call them on phone, no response. If the finally respond, they ask you to scan and send documents on your life history!!!
Can we form an associate of stock investors and launch complaints to all the relevant "fanthom" authorities? The force of our cooperative efforts, should be able to move these gluttonous zombies.
