U can lecture with a master degree and that's whay Yar'dua has, an Msc in Chemistry, probably if he was still lecturing he could hace gotten his Phd, even 1st degree holders with 1st class are graduate assistance while to proceed for their masters

Presidential Race Derails Yar’Adua’s Plan

But for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential race, the Katsina State Governor and the party's candidate in the forthcoming presidential elections, Alhaji Umar Yar'Adua would have been gearing up to return to Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria to teach by May 29.
Prior to his emergence as PDP presidential candidate, Yar'Adua was said to have picked up an appointment with the school to lecture on completion of his second term in office as governor.
PDP Ex-Officio member (North East), Barrister Abdullahi Jallo, revealed in an interview with THISDAY that, “Unknown to many people in this country, Yar’Adua had actually picked up an appointment letter to return to the classroom in the Department of Chemistry, ABU, Zaria as a lecturer.
“That appointment letter is still with him, you can go and confirm at the ABU or you can go and confirm from him” he said. “Before he went to ABU to pick the appointment to return to the class, he was asked to contest for the Senate or wait for an ambassadorial position but he refused, saying he wanted to go back to the classroom. He was eventually pressurized to contest as presidential aspirant of the party.
“That shows that Yar’Adua is not a greedy man hungry for power for the sake of power. It also shows that he is very strong and not sick as people are spreading wicked rumours about him. It also shows that anybody who looks for power in an over ambitious manner does not get it in Nigeria ,” he said.
Jallo, from Gombe State was reacting to insinuations that Yar’Adua was not well and healthy enough to withstand the rigours of governing Nigeria and that he was being imposed on Nigeria. He went down memory lane recalling that since 1960, politicians who were too hungry for power had not realised their presidential ambitions.
“If you look back you will discover that after independence, all those that were too hungry for power did not get it beginning from Chief Obafemi Awolowo, to the Second Republic during the Shagari era. You will remember that Shagari did not show interest in the presidency, it was people like Mallam Adamu Ciroma, Alhaji Sule Takuma, Dr. Ibrahim Tahir, Damasanin Kano, Alhaji Maitama Sule, that were looking for power.
“If you know the history of this country you will discover that it is the person who does not look for the leadership of this country that gets it. That shows that it is God that gives power,” he said.
According to him, “the era of political elite looking for power has gone, we are now in era of political servants of the people, who are ready to transform this country for the better for our children and the children yet unborn.”
Yar'Adua holds his first and masters' degrees in Analytical Chemistry. He had taught Chemistry before at ABU before becoming governor in 1999.
Responding to insinuations in some quarters that it was wrong for President Olusegun Obasanjo to have said he would lead Yar'Adua's presidential campaign as it will destract him from being focused to complete the ongoing projects, Jallo said, the president has robust energy and high intelligence that will not derail any of his planned programmes.
Yar’Adua emerged as presidential candidate of the PDP after the other governors in the race withdrew on the eve of the election. He went on to defeat 11 other aspirants.
While responding to allegations that his health was suspect, the Katsina governor said he was only treated for liver disease in a German hospital in year 2000 and that he has never been seriously ill since then. He then challenged those doubting the state of his health to a game of squash which he plays so well. Squash which is an indoor sports game is naturally an energy tasking game.

at this stage i want to declare a truce btw Nigeria 1 and Dan, we are the future of Nigeria and we should not fight, i believe that all this are developmental problems, with time when the old generations passes away, Nigeria will shape up, u see the UK, USA etc also had this same problem we are going thro in thier early stages of nationhood, they fought wars, but by his grace we have seen our own last war amen

Good u are an engineer, i am an engineer too and we think analytical, when i was doing this analysis on Excel(see my analysis once again) i noticed a sinister constant linearity in the figures from state to state, as if the figs were computed from a specific equation .

But, as an engineer and one schooled in advance computations am not hitting the nail on the head yet, unless verified.

Let u and I, including other engineers & mathematicians in the house) look at the figs again, work it backwards, extrapoliate and see if the figs follow a particular defined formula, i'll suggest we use either variance analysis or any other methods suitable.

look at the ratios of MALE/FEMALE for the various state, then the various zones, u can do that from my data, now re transpose backwards?, something seems fishy, I am busy now, but i can assure u i will derive fron 1st principles the ojoro formula used by NPC, I am from Kogi state, born and lived all my live in Lagos, i reject the figs for my two states?
