PoliticsWhen Your Deputy's Name Is Goodluck! Then Watch Out : by tonitone1(op): 10:31pm On Feb 10, 2010
“In your own (best) interest, no matter the position you are offered in ANY organisation (Office, Church, Meeting/Club, Party Planning, Tenants’ Association, Activist, etc), if your Deputy is named "Goodluck”, PLEASE DECLINE, even if it is UN Secretary General or Head of African Union, whatever, JUST DECLINE!

Should you think I am joking, check these facts:

1. Goodluck was Assistant Head Boy in primary school. The Head Boy got expelled. Goodluck took over.

2. Goodluck was Assistant Senior Prefect in secondary school, the Senior Prefect died, Goodluck took over.

3. Goodluck was Deputy Local Government Chairman. The Chairman got implicated in corruption and got removed from office. Goodluck took over

4.Goodluck was deputy governor to Alameiseigha. We all know that story

5.Goodluck was Vice President to President Yar’Adua:- HE IS NOW ACTING PRESIDO!

You may think this is coincidence, but don’t you think the coincidence is too much?

Maybe this last one will convince you:

A friend of mine just called off his Church Wedding. Why? His BestMan’s name is Goodluck!!! My friend has insisted that he will only have traditional marriage, and the BestMan will not know when…

I have being a true friend. Goodluck (minus the Jonathan) to you.”

1815: Nigeria captain Peter Odemwingie: "I think we have used all the luck we had so far in this tournament. Ghana deserved the victory they played very well. We played as individuals not as a team and I think we need more tactical flexibility than to play 4-3-3 all the time. We need to play more attacking football. We played with one striker and it did not help us and we did not get a lot of chances. We could have played much better."

1818: So not exactly a ringing endorsement from the Nigerian captain for coach Shaibu Amodu's tactics, eh? Think he will survive until the World Cup? Doubt it. embarassed

MTN to me is fraud, i bought their usb fastlink a week before their N8500 promo at the old rate of N12,500, and load with 10k credit for 24 hrs browsing and guess what?, the USB crashed after 2 weeks, i bought another USB pack(since mtn will not replace and i had 2G left) this time for 8.5k.
My experience, with mtn is that the 3G limitation is a FRAUD, because most thime when the network is not available and your time is up you loose all your gygabites!!!, to me that is fraud!, is it my fault for network outage?, i give you an intance!, i preloaded 10K and for more than a week i could download because mtn had network issues, which i confirmed from thier office, but no body compesnsated me for those lost airtome!, i  think ZOOM may be better in air time management.

PoliticsSupplementary Budget Underway For N’delta by tonitone1(op): 3:10pm On Oct 11, 2009
Supplementary Budget Underway for N’Delta
As Details Emerge On Yar’adua, Ex-Militants’ Parley…
By Collins Edomaruse, 10.11.2009

• 10 % community ownership in JV businesses
• 5 % JV stake reserved for Nigerians
• Investment in new coastal railway line
• Dualisation and completion of East-West highway.

A supplementary budget to give effect to President Umaru Musa YarAdua’s new development plan for the Niger Delta is to be forwarded to the National Assembly soon, THISDAY investigation has revealed.
We also gathered that the supplementary budget option was taken by the government as a practical way of demonstrating its seriousness and desire to push through its development agenda for the region.
Our investigation also show that the leadership of the National Assembly has already bought into the President’s budgetary option and is indeed waiting for the document to be sent to it to give the process accelerated action and passage before the end of the year.
This came as details emerged, yesterday, of the offers President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua made to the people of the Niger Delta following the end of amnesty period, some of which were tabled in a meeting with ex-militants at the Banquet Hall of the Presidential Villa on Friday.
In a speech, he informed the ex-militants that he invited them to discuss his plans for the Niger Delta.
The plans, according to THISDAY investigation, include:
*Community ownership, which will allow the people of oil-bearing communities in the region up to 10 percent stake in all joint venture businesses. Under the president’s plan, 5 per cent stake in all joint venture businesses would also be exclusively accessed by all Nigerians, of which people of Niger Delta will have upto 1 per cent direct individual participation;
*New Infrastructure: Under this plank, the President will embark on the dualisation and completion of the east-west highway. This will also entail a design and building of a new fast train system from Calabar to Benin City in the first phase and from Benin City to Lagos in the second phase;
*The completion of the Ajaokuta – Warri rail system, which will be extended to Warri Port to give maritime traffic to the rail line and “designated the central line.” It will also be extended from Ajaokuta to Abuja and the north, and a container terminal will be built in Owa-Oyibu, Delta State, to service the east. Owa-Oyibu is a strategic location because of the existence of a rail hub in the area;
*The government also plans a massive funding of the Niger Delta Ministry and the Niger Delta Devel-opment commission (ND-DC) to be able to intervene in most communities in the area with respect to infrastructural development.
The ownership scheme will be reflected in the new Petroleum Industry Bill (PIB) while the infrastructural devrelopment with be presented as supplementary budget to National Assembly after the imputs of Niger Delta Stakeholders including ex-militants.
Also at the meeting on Friday were governors of the Niger Delta states.
Speaking on behalf of the governors, Edo State governor, Comrade Adams Oshio-mhole, said: “Never in the history of Nigeria has any leader shown the kind of sincere commitment to the Niger Delta cause we have seen in Yar’Adua.”
He also said if former leaders have shown half of the commitment Yar’Adua has shown on the Niger Delta, the situation would not have deteriorated to the level we saw before the amnesty.
After Yar’Adua’s presentation of his plans, the governors and the ex-militants went on to debate the recommendations and decided to reconvene later this week after consulting with their people back home.

CareerRe: Performance Reviews And Incentive Pay Are Harmful? by tonitone1(m): 8:21pm On Jul 11, 2007
Yeah Seun
I have been in management for quite some time, and i some how tend to agree, you see the problem is that been human as we are, 60% of the times, managers, especially in this clime tend to be subjective when its time for appraisals, in most cases they are blinded or seems not to notice that a good nos of those with better appraisals, i mean those you may refer to as the 20%(Pareto's etc) are those who do 'EYE SERVICE', any way i may be wrong but that's my observation. However, over the years i have studied and used various Performance evaluation tool and i THINK the BALANCED SCORE CARD OR BSC developed by Kaplan and co is the best so far, because it has inbuilt feedback mechanism, and it is self appraisal. At the beginning of the year, you agree on targets, set objectives etc in 4 different perspective which of course are driven from the vision of the company. it is then signed off and at the end of the year or period you evaluate yourself based on achieved variables and your boss can hardly alter it if the facts behind the figs are properly laid out and presented.

BusinessRe: If You Are Overpaid By Your Bank by tonitone1(m): 12:54am On Jun 30, 2007
The best thing to do without even thinking otherwise is to return the money, about 3wks ago i was at Zenith bank at Oba Akran to w/draw cash to pay for my daughter's school fees, but when i got to her school which happened to be on a friday, i discovered i was overpaid by N10,000! and i was already in Festac by 3.30pm, ofcourse i can't go back same day, thus i checked for any Zenith phone nos, i got one on my ATM card and i put a call to Oba Akran branch that i was overpaid and will be returning the cash by sat, and that was is it, i dont even need to see the cashier that paid me, it was't neccessary but the fact was my conscience was free . smiley smiley

TravelRe: Your First Day On A Plane by tonitone1(m): 9:50pm On Jan 28, 2007
My first was in 1986, i was in 100 levels, it was the glorious days of Nigeria Airways and with 25% student rebate i think the fare was N75!!, IThe flight was very smooth and i still remember the plane was named Ikogosi(though it crashed later), i was scared but i pretended as if i was reading newspaper, then suddenly the lady sitting by my side tapped me and said you are reading the papers upsidedown!!!, waol i was embarrased and at the point of take off my heart skipped, u know as an engineer i was busy calculating the plane's velocity, the cruise speed and the time i'll get to my destination.

Subsequently i n school when we are broke after closure we troop to the Nigeria Airforce base Makurdi to get a free ride in Hercules c130, in my first adventure, i entered C130 and discovered there was no seats! and trust Nigerians, since its FOC(Free of charge) we were like in a molue, standing, hanging etc, men soldiers are trying, C130 is molue in the air! am sure if ur first time is in C130 you will hate flying for life.

in my career flying was a routine and i can't count how many times i have flown

I have always known Henry as an excellent player.I am an arsenal fc fan.it is only natural that i should be bias but the truth is that O.martins goal is wonderful. The strenght behind that drive is inexplicable with no chance for the keeper unlike henrys goal that the keeper has his hand slightly on it
The truth is that i don't see obafemi lasting very long with Newcastle. I see other strong premiership club snapping him up from them. There is no doubt, he is a world class player. I don't mean any disrespect for Henrys goal
