Seun:I think, he's becoming a different kind of THEM! I guess he's "standing up" for what he believes. Baba_O:VWN was just a company, and this was years ago. And we have so many politicians who hav looted our treasury about to walk away free by May 29th; and many more are coming in. This former VW man (seems clean as far as I know) and has good intentions for our country, Nigeria. And it sounds very typical of Nigerians to laugh at and criticize someone who may have good plans for them, but praise other people who'll end up looting and disappointing them. We allow "corrupt" people to rob us of our mandate; force themselves into office; execute all kinds of financial looting and go away scott-free. But the moment someone seems to make a change for better, we throw in all sorts of criticisms and discouragement. Funny it may sound, but these politicians always play on the intelligence of Nigerians and go away untouched, because they know that we will always "do nothing". I don't know what the out-come of his "fight" will be, but I think it's a good change. God Bless my country, Nigeria. Cheers. |

Do you call what had taken place on 14th and 21st April, 2007 elections? If you do then you are a special breed of Nigeria. It's disheartening that at this stage of our country existence we can not allow the will of the people to manifest. Why wasnt option A-4 used? It is not a matter of who won or who didnt win. The issue is that if you want to hold elections, do it properly. Is not possible for once that let Nigeria set a uniquely good example for the rest of Africa, for the rest of the world by holding a substantially credible, free, fair, un-rigged, un-manipulated, non-violent elections? Why shld we be the ones doing things the odd way. Do you realize the pride that will follow the name NIGERIA and NIGERIANS if this election was like that of June 12? Geez, I'll hold my head high bcx even USA couldnt achieve such in their plenty years of democracy! But here we are supporting, jubilating, praising and generally keeping quiet about a daylight robbery of (our) the people's mandate. I came out on those 2 historic days, trekked form one polling booth to another and another, just to locate my polling centre, cast my vote. Not withstanding that everyone else around me warned me that my vote wont count, and I stubbornly thought it would. Well, I was wrong! It didnt count! I am not against the person that emerged as the "winner", but let's do it THE RIGHT WAY. This evening, I'm going to get enough fuel for my generator set (since NEPA aka PHCN has remained a joke), buy a few movies, grab some drinks, and stay indoors all day (tomo) on Sat'day 28th April, 2007, with my sweet lady and my 3 wks-old princess, because I aint going to endorse this electoral crime against the people any more. We shld re-do the elections, all of it. By the way, I hope those who got themselves killed/injured/hurt during the past two elections will realize that very soon, the candidates they were willing to die for will soon pick up POLITICAL appointments and COMPLETELY forget about them till 2011. Be wise, stay away from electoral violence. {At least, so that you can live to see your children's chidren. . . }Happy weekend. Tony Blu |

Basically Diabetes have been with us for a long time, and its treatment is usually life-long. It may be Insulin dependent (need to always shoot insulin injection) or Non-Insulin dependent (where u use tablets to manage it). It's best to moderate sugar & carbohydrate intake. We have to also curtail and positively modify our DIETS. Avoid fast-food joints. We have to control obesity/excessive fatness. Dietary modification and control remains the 1st line of managing Diabetes. Now there is a new word: PRE-DIABETES, that is people that have the tendency to have diabetes, when detected early can give a better advantage to manage and control over time. We should all make efforts to GO FOR A BLOOD-SUGAR LEVEL TEST, or any other suitable Test for Diabetes. It's so scary now that CHILDREN now have Diabetes, some of whc could have been controlled by parents. We often think that Mr Biggs, TFC, Tanatlizer fried rice n chicken are EFFIZY but we are nicely accumulating cholesterol, and building up fat. These not only pre-disposed you (makes u susceptible) to Diabetes, but also lead to the other health conditions like Heart problem and Lipids related diseases. A parent might feed his/her kids with fatty foods now (Break-fast @ Biggs; Lunch @ Tanatlizers and Dinner@TFC) and think it's effizy. Some parents are just too lazy (or busy?) to cook for their kids, even breakfast. Wont Milo and loaf serve as breakfast, or even cereal food. Your Doctor, Pharmacist or healthcare giver remains the best person to advice you on drugs to use for Diabetes. Here's some links and findings: http://tonyblu..com/2007/04/metformin-and-glimepiride-safe-and.html http://tonyblu..com/2007/04/preventing-type-2-diabetes-in-at-risk.html Stay healthy. |
IMAGINE yourself in a swimming pool, sitting at d bottom: That is how an ASTHMA attack feeling when it hits. The person will be "drowning" in his/her own mucous secretions. It is VERY important NOT TO PANIC during an asthmatic attack. You must not get frightened or PANIC, because you have to be in control to some extent, at least until help arrives. Basically, it begins with the person being exposed to an "allergen", that is the stuff that starts (or triggers) the attack. These allergen are usually invisible to the eyes and atimes odourless. But could include Cigerette smoke, frying palm oil, heavy smoke, heavy odours, chemical odours, dusts, lying on the rug-carpets, moulds on the wall, damp walls (that flake off paints), some types of blankets, feathers, poultry-house, dogs, cats, pets, cold-things, dusty-curtains, etc. Atimes heavy exercise can cause the attack. Also note that when you are about choking with water, or food (for people that like talking when eating), and things go down the air-way and you try to forcefully cough out the water or food, you may irritate the air-way such that an attack may come up later. So you have to lightly cough out the water or food until it clears. There are many medications now available to manage/control asthma. Your pharmacist, doctor or healthcare provider will advise you on what will best suit you. There are also "Breathing Exercises" usually introduced and demonstrated by a PHYSIOTHERAPIST. This will help you moderate your breathing during an asthmatic crisis. Usually, we breathe with our chest muscles, the ribs and to some extent the diaphragm (muscle under the lungs but above your liver & stomach). But when an acute (intense) attack sets in, the muscles of the chest may get overworked and atimes they will not respond. This is where the Breathing exercise comes in; and it allows you to breath using your Diaphragm and the front stomach/abdominal muscles. This pattern can help you get air into your lungs, until the attack gradually eases off, or till when medical help arrives. In some instances, even aver the Intravenous injection, you still have to moderate the breathing exercises to gain good air control. Remember, always carry your inhaler and DONT PANICK! And in most cases, the attack gives you a sign, that is to say YOU know when it's coming. Laughing too hard can be a source of problem too, so laugh gently or just GRIN (enough teeth)Nose bleeding might be because of harsh weather (harmattan, dusty), hence the mucous that naturally protects nose membrane dries up, and so bleeding starts. I think applying a light film of Vaseline (or other pure petroleum jelly) in the nostrils in such harsh weather can lubricate the nose and minimize the bleeding. Stay healthy. |
Nice thread you have going on here. Here are my own inputs: http://tonyblu..com/2007/04/asthma.html http://tonyblu..com/2007/04/asthma-2.html http://tonyblu..com/2007/04/asthma-3.html |
Interesting but NOT surprising. Didn't someone say it was a DO-OR-DIE affair? Interpretation: Do it my way or u die! Other INEC Commissioners, take NOTE |
Why not Utomi as president & Buhari as Vice? |
Seems like someone is NOW saying the TRUTH. Keeping my fingers crossed. It's about time with applauded those who seem to be ready to tell the TRUTH amidst all the Electoral LIES we've heard so far. |
Whatever happened to Press freedom? How else is d public meant to get information when press houses are "SHOT" down. Most TV stations (and media houses) are either state-owned, govt owned; owned by someone highly connected to d ruling party or plain scared to sing d wrong song! Isnt this another way of perpetrating abject IGNORANCE among d populace? Isnt this a means of keeping important information from d populace? I'll rather say that no matter the issue AIT was involved in, the business-end-of-a-gun-barrel wasnt d solution. This same people preach DUE PROCESS, yet they are the first to break laws. It's highly improper! I cant wait for this crazy administration to leave, come May 29th, 2007! What a BIG relief it'll be! |
Thank goodness he's still in the race. I suspect that this was a ploy by the opposition to destabilize his teeming supporters. So Glad he's in the race. I so much like this post by McKren: https://www.nairaland.com/nigeria/topic-49287.64.html#msg1046971 "It is so easy to seat in our comfort zone to call those who have attempted to change our politics names, it is also a fact that it is easier to play by the rules while in politics than to initiate something different. "We criticize and make fun of those who attempt to make a difference and that in principle means celebrating those who play by the rules and maintain the status quo. "What has this status quo brought us other than Poor education, poor health facilities, and generally poor basic amenities. What I find very disturbing is the fact that the average Nigerian who bear the brunt of all this is so happy to make jest of the UTOMI's . . ." "Since Nigerians will not take their destiny in their hands. . . " Ride on bro! |
Now that UTOMI has decided to hang his 'boot', who is the "credible" person left there to be voted for? Buhari? ![]() Atiku? YarAdua? ![]() Chris? ![]() It's really a tough issue! Can someone pls enlighten me on the IMPLICATION(S) of a TOTAL BOYCOTT of Sat'day's Election. |
McKren:Wch polls, will Election still hold? |
U mean Boycott? Good idea! Let only PDP do the voting, it's about time they learn that NIGERIA belongs to over 150million people, not just a meagre less-than 500,000 (about 0.33%) politicians. Sovereignty is for NIGERIANS, not the politicians. |

I am definitely sick & tired of our electioneering and democratic process. It's sad. ![]() viee:As Nigerians, All we need to do is to say: Enough is Enough. I almost feel like weeping Most of, if not all, the Guv'nors hav rigged their way into the State Houses. The Presidential elections billed for Sat'day, so far have shown no credible opposition to the ruling party. So it'll be business as usual. It's really so SAD! |
babasin:I completely agree with you on the issue that the Rule of Law shld be followed; my only concern is that people may misunderstand this RULE of LAW as Victory for Atiku; hence gaining him some undeserved SYMPATHETIC votes. Come Sat 21 April: We MUST not VOTE AC We MUST not VOTE PDP |
