hary4luv: I encountered an act in the office some days back and since then it seems things have taken an awkward turn in my office.
I work in an organization as an assistant consultant, which by implication makes my office very close to my boss who is the senior consultant in our department.
On a fateful Friday after work, I decided to stay behind in order to tide up some office works. After about two hours I started hearing some strange moans/voices coming from the office directly opposite which happens to be my oga's office. I was curious so I decided to take a look to see what's going on, when I got to the door, I didn't hear any voice so I thought maybe it was my imagination. I gently pushed the door expecting it to be locked only for the door to open and lo and behold my boss was banging our newly employed secretary on his office table. our both eyes jammed, I stood frozen for some minutes (I guess) before I heard his voice "Young man what are you looking for in my office?"
Since that event things have been very awkward between me, my boss and the secretary. ( Don't know what to do) why must you catch them ..you no get job ..nw get ready for sack poke nosing allow the dude to gucck na |

yusaze: This was in 1915 and shown in the photo are the women of Yagba in Egbe, now present-day Kogi State given what was described as ‘a lesson on how to wash clothes’ by white missionary, Mrs. Thomas Titcombe.
Egbe is an ancient town bordering Kwara and Kogi states and as far back as the early 20th century, it received foreign missionaries like Reverend Tommy Titcombe (a British-born Canadian missionary) and his wife a missionary with SIM (Sudan Interior Mission; now Serving In Mission) who arrived Egbe in 1908. Both of them later learnt Yoruba and the Yagba dialect with which they preached the gospel of Christ to the people. The popular Titcombe College was named for the reverend and they also set the foundation for the ECWA Hospital, Egbe, one of the biggest Christian hospitals in Kogi State.

Politics › This Is What They Wont Tell You About Buhari Visit To Usa by tonychristopher(op): 7:05pm On Jul 27, 2015 |
The White House was disappointed that Buhari’s contingent had no presentation about working with the United States to salvage their crumbly economy. For instance, the Nigeria’s economy under Buhari has no prospects at the moment. The currency’s exchange values is worsening while the President visited without any economic crew. Nigeria has a mono-economy that is dependent largely on oil, and the United States has since suspended oil importation from Nigeria. US imports from Nigeria, mostly crude oil and other petroleum products, rose from more than 24 billion dollars in 2005 to over 38 billion in 2008, but dropped sharply to less than four billion last year largely because of America’s shale energy revolution. Yet President Buhari rendered no concerns about the impending economic consequence of these developments. To make it worse, President Buhari shocked his hosts with his vastly publicized comment that the US has “aided and abetted” the Boko Haram Islamist militant group by refusing to provide weapons to Nigeria. This comment, it was gathered angered some members of the Obama administration who now raise doubts about President Buhari’s earnestness in collaborating with the U.S. in solving his security problems. Another blunder was made when President’s Buhari, in defense of his cabinet-selection delays, published an op-ed in Washington Post, wrongly accusing President Obama of equally delaying his cabinet selection in the initial stage of taking office. Wrote Buhari, “It is worth noting that Obama himself did not have his full Cabinet in place for several months after first taking office; the United States did not cease to function in the interim.” “I don’t know where he got that information,” said Oshiokpekhai Utu-Orbih, a Nigerian attorney and writer based in the United States. “I am still trying to come in terms with the rationale of the above statement in the said article other than the fact that President Buhari has gone to press to lie against his host in a bid to justify his dictatorial rule over Nigeria,” Utu-Orbih said. http://www.thecabletimes.com/revealed-united-states-disappointed-with-buharis-visit/ |

Odidire: People
Everyday on the internet, I hear talks about how yorubas guys are this and that, about how unfaithful they are and how they cannot be trusted. But I have given it alot of thoughts and have come to one conclusion, the issue is most likely with the ladies these yoruba men are married too. How did I arrive at this conclusion, I would share my own story with you.
I have been married for 3 years. I work with an oil and gas company as an engineer, while my wife works in a bank. I work 2 weeks offshore and the other 2 weeks I rest. We have a child, who is about 3 years old.
So 5 days ago, my wife and I were home (she is currently on leave and I am off work for the week). I walked into the kitchen and saw my child's nanny making the rice the family was to eat. I wasn't pleased at all. I discussed the issue with my wife. Being aware I don't like anyone preparing my meal aside from her and myself, I was very unhappy she allowed the nanny prepare my meal. She apologized, said the nanny was just being overzealous. That she started the meal, but the lady took over. I told she should let me know if she's too tired to cook, so I could do it myself. I don't mind the nanny cooking for my daughter, but I like to make my meals myself or at worse my wife makes it.
Next day, my wife was busy getting groceeries for the house. The nanny prepared the meals for my daughter. I wanted to fix myself rice, but discovered there was no stew. When my wife came back, I begged her to help fix INDOMIE. That was supposed to be my first meal of the day. Mind you it was already 2pm. She agreed. After 5 minutes, I decided to check on her, she was having a shower, so I went to the kitchen to check on the food. Guess what i saw, the nanny making the meal. I entered into the kitchen and saw the nanny (a young lady in her 20s) stirring the meal on the fire and smiling seductively at me. I was mad.
I discussed this with my wife, she apologized, said she put the indomie on fire and just stepped into the bathroom to have a shower, having just gotten back from the market. That the nanny must have decided to help out.
Then I started to ask myself some very important questions, why am I married to my wife and not the nanny? The nanny takes care of my daughter, cooks for her, does her home work and apparently cooks my meal too.
My wife's excuse is that she works and her work is very engaging and tiring. Yes, she works hard and is quite successful in her career. But sadly she doesnt contribute a single penny to the upkeep of the family. I am aware her salary is like 50% of mine, which is quite substantial. But she keeps 100% of it to herself. I pay for everything in the house, including her personal needs, which includes drivers, laundryman, house cleaners, vacations and everything else you can think of.
I remember some years ago, she compalined that I don't do chores around the house, I asked her what chores she does herself and the only answer she could come with is arranging the children's clothes and the house. I asked her what chores she wanted me to do, when we have 2 of her relatives staying with us and both of them were on holidays doing nothing. She ranted and complained that I just sit around whenever Im off work and do nothing. So since then I started washing my own plates and sweeping our own room whenever I can.
I noticed the above is common trend among educated yoruba women. They leave their husbands at the mercies of housemaids and nannies. An igbo or an hausa woman would never allow anyone feed her husband. They would personally ensure they handle that themselves. A yoruba woman, all in the name of career, would abandon her husband and children.
Sometimes, I wake up in the morning, the first thing I see is a scantily dressed nanny serving me breakfast, people, pls tell me when would a young man not start having funny thoughts about the nanny. My major concern is even the look the nanny gives me anytime she sees me walk into the kitchen, while she is cooking. What if she decides to put love portion in the meal (who knows if those things are real or not). If I am not a christian and with some degree of self control and I start to misbehave with this nanny, they would come and say yoruba men have started again.
Can anyone tell me why I shouldn't be married to my child's nanny instead of my wife, because in my honest opinion, she adds more value to me than my wife.
Anyway, I have started making my meals myself. I have refused to eat anything prepared by her or the nanny. Its been over a week and I am healthy. Let her continue with her fight for women rights and feminism. When I see a good calabar girl, her eyes would clear. now I know why Yoruba men detest marrying their women .. never knew this was the reason reason but its the Igbo women that are career suc |

semitunde: Igbo calling others names is new to you? Lol. Now that's a first! Check threads on naira land and you will see lots of it. Now I've not said others don't call igbos names too, but then others aren't the one calling for independence and as such, not the ones being discussed here. Others also have allies which Igbo apparently don't have partly due to their belligerent nature.
You say yorubas detest ijebus. I laugh I ijebu. No Yoruba group "detests" another. Never. Families can have their preferences but never a group detesting another. You know nothing about that and should stick to things you know. I can tell you all you want about this cos its my tribe not yours. If we decide to discuss the ngwa people or the mbaise, you can be the authority.
You want us to come and invest in the east? Why? Why would we come over to a place where we don't feel wanted? You think that's how business works? You think you will have many of your people in Yoruba land if we were hostile? E.g. you wake up and your shop.is burnt and people are non chalant? I dare say there's nothing in the east now, to attract a Yoruba person there. Most of what we want is right here. You guys have the opportunity to change that, but not by boasting or abusing others. If your convince us well enough now, and you make more friends than enemies with your mouth and conduct; then you can have those friends even fight for and with you for what you want, cos they would now empathise with your cause.
You say you want your business people investing at home. That's what we want too, its part of my explanation. Your being able to to tell your western domiciled guys to come home would be a step in getting Biafra ( whether you want it or not). The folly in you not wanting foreign help in terms of investment would be revealed only when you get your country.
Finally why aren't you a fan of Biafra? If you aren't a fan of Nigeria as well, tell me, if you want to get a juicy contract tied to developing the country and your allegiance to the country is assessed, would it be fair to get that contract with your present thinking?
Maybe you don't know the damage not having a common purpose does to a group. It means you can do stuff, even take advantage of a system or an environment to gain selfish advantage, financially or otherwise, to the detriment of the group. Because you don't care about the group, only yourself. Does this statement sound familiar?
I won't go into a back and forth, so let's just let this rest. I'm sure you won't agree with most if not all of my thoughts, else we won't be where we are today as a country; so let's maintain our side of the fence ok? I know you will deny ijebu detest in Lagos maybe you don't leave in Lagos to know this mind you Igbo have never been begging for investors if you really know the psyche of Igbo man he believes in himself not one investor coming to invest and make all the monies and take it back to his region what Igbo is canvassing is group economics and we Igbo tell other Igbo to plough the monies they make out of their region in east that is why you have the orientation of orient reginary that is why you have innosson that is why you have ibeto cement plant in ebonyi that is why you have cutix that is why you have a whole lot of Igbo in home for Christmas not only to celebrate but invest maybe you have not been to east at least I have been toist western capital with their linear settlement been to north with their sparse settlement been to east with their nucleted settlement not been a biafran apologist doesn't make me to stop appreciative if their agitation but know that this is Nigeria is not the model country I am Igbo and a proud one and if presented on choices I choose freedom I choose homogenithy in religion in culture in outlook and that is what Nigeria has refused to offer I think it's better to love ourselves as a separate country that hate and kill ourselves in one country isreal is surrounded by enemies but they are respected and developed I am tired of this kilings hatred tribslistic inclinations bombings and quota system ...ih they still have federal character such a funny country |

Who in his/her right senses in nigeria would say there is unity in this country. It is only in the north that self-determination groups in one form or the order do not exist. Though the level of publicity or agitation may vary. The fact remains that nigeria is a forced marriage of incompatibles. I keep wondering what sort of leaders are saddled with directing the affairs of this country. What does it take them to come to terms with the realities of our situation. Which is that, in order to avoid a sudden conflagration, nigeria has no other options than to go back to pre-66 arrangement, a con-federation or outright breakup. For how long shall we continue to postpone the evil day ? Besides, why is such a deafening silence across the country of the fact that nigeria as a sovereign country ceased to exist since 2014 ? nice post from a rare breed in the west |

semitunde: Actually he's very correct. And its funny how utnis don't realise this and still want to make their dream work.
Like people have suggested, test your Biafra from today. You call other tribes names, while you accuse them of marginalisation. Why don't you have a change of attitude and see where that takes you?
Hold your Governors and other politicians accountable, cos really they won't seize to be biafrans if you get your country. They will even have a head start with enough money to throw around. With your new country needing investments in critical sectors for growth, you may lean on those guys more. So hold them accountable now! Make Biafra work now. Make biafra enticing to even non Igbo to come and stay and invest in. Make igbos living outside Biafra have the will to come home with joy!
The disturbing thing for non Igbos is not your call for Biafra, (apart from the inciting words, which is rather stupid) its the absolute planlessness, associated with it. The fact that only strife or war or both will be the end of that country, if it ever exists. I am not biafran apologist but what I don't like is the same way you people get petrified in anything Biafra ..you said we hold our governors and make sure they function ..that is right and if you notice in east lately anambra governor has performed credibly more than any governor in Nigeria at least I am in akure the first time and I have seen the level of development and been in Abeokuta I know that you said Igbo call other names ...hmmmm thats a new one ..who said lagoon ..even amongst the Yoruba ijebus are detested don't argue this cos I am living in Lagos and I know how they see ilorin people as sell out and how they call the interior people of Forest bro in terms of investment are you the ones that build industry in Igbo lands or don't you think Igbo millionaires which are many will plough back their profit home cos I know Igbo believe in akure ruo uno principle left for me I won't even want foreign investors that will repatriate their fund back home ....I will want Igbo investors that will invest and kepp the money in the region ...its not every country will beg for foreign investors ...ask Russians and Caspian Sea dudes in Balkans so let them decide and if God says the Igbo will have their Biafra so be it I am not crazy about Biafra or Nigeria mind you |
