A young lad approached me a week ago while i was eating at a restaurant at Garki 2 Abuja and flipped open a catalogue of his products and i was amazed at the ingenuity of the Igbos. This country has raw untapped talents.

He manufactured an industrial yam pounding machine that gets over 20tubers of yam pounded in two minutes when cooked.

He detailed his processes in that catalogue and i asked him what he wanted from me.

He said he wanted link to NOTAP to be able to showcase his products so that the world can see what he is capable of.

i have made calls to arrange how we can see the NOTAP DG buit was told he is out of the country.

I saw myself buying him a good lunch, gave him some cash to encourage him.

I was much humbled when he told he finished from one polytechnic in Abia state.

I look myself with 3 degrees and couldnt place it.

i wonder the discrimination against polytechnic students and where we are headed as a country with that policy.

only technical education will build entrepreneurship not the B.sc and M.sc we flash arround with no technical skill

Am a Yoruba boy and I always say this, the Igbos are gifted with technological prowess and they are very industrious too......this is just one example of so many where an Igbo man builds something from scratch. You can read up on another Igbo man Philip Emeagwali.(There won't be internet without him)

This doesn't mean Yorubas and Hausas don't have their strengths too but there is something VERY unique about the Igbos.

I imagine a Nigeria where there is absolute love among all the major tribes of this republic so we can be the envy of others.

My problem is that you are misleading people. I bought a 2003 Honda Accord V6 EX from Canada and the air-conditioner was the coldest I have ever experienced. It came with a single cell radiator, thermostat and the fans run intermittently. I used it for one year and sold it and the buyer is still using it.

Thermostat removal is only needed when the car is constantly overheating (all thing been equal) like good radiator, good water pump, no host laekage, good oil ...but the car still over heats..then YANK OFF THE DAMN THERMOSTAT and connect your fan directly

Tropicalization of cars

The climate conditions vary severely across the globe and car manufacturers previously made cars for specific countries based on their climate conditions without realizing that with globalization the cars do get exported out from the country where it was originally meant for sale in.

Cars made in Europe used to be designed for European climate which were cooler and dryer than sub tropical Asian countries where temperatures can exceed 40C and have humidity over 80%. The direct impact of exporting a car designed for the European climate to Asia meant that the cars were not able to function at its best. There were many examples of cases where the cars would over heat as the cooling system was not suitable for the sub tropical climate. The radiators were far too small and other components were not able to cope with the high humidity leading to premature failure. Some BMWs, Alfa Romeos and Audis that were imported to Asia from Germany or UK struggled to cope with the heat. Many of these cars could barely travel 100km across an Asian city without overheating.

Some interior components also started to fade and peel off as the coatings and linings were meant for dry climate conditions.
The car manufacturers only realized this in the late 1990s and started to do global scale testing during the development phase.

Things involved in tropicalizing a vehicle:
1. Paint - either repaint or try a good paint sealant.
2. Rubbers and Plastics (e.g. weather strips, dashboard, plastic bumpers, trimmings, etc.) - replace weather strips with tropicalized ones. Other plastic parts may require painting.
3. Cooling system/ Radiator Size/ Fan, etc. - Replace radiator as necessary or replace fan that has higher air flow.

Start with the paint. Its the most expensive part. Next is the cooling system. Then just observe first the other rubber and plastic parts and replace as necessary. Some might not need replacing immediately.
