Relationship is supposed to be partnership and not parasitism.

If your intention is to know "who" he is and not "what" he is, you won't even bother if he doesn't take you out, since taking you out doesn't reveal who he is, but only reveals what he pretends to be. But this is no big deal if you are out looking for a pretender.
