I think guys that try to control girls are wimps. In fact one of my friends asked me for my opinion today about some issues he is having with his girl, thinking I was going to take his side, but I just told him straight up that his relationship was gonna mess up if he didn't stop trying to control her. Basically she has two job offers and she wants to pick one of the jobs because she has worked a similar job before. He wants her to take the other job because the company has been around for longer while the other one is a new start-up company. I explained to him that she is an adult that is going to spend 40 hrs of her week at a job. . . It is only fair that she gets to decide which job that will be . . . offer your input or advice, but it is unfair to force your opinion on her. Being a typical Naija man he just said "Well, I've put my foot down and that's it"   . Kinda sad IMO.

I will fight for equality in the work place, school or any institution or organization. But when it comes to the workings of a family, you can't use such mentality and you think you'll succeed. Even the West marriages people use as a case in point when we talk about 50/50 from what I have seen here the responsibilities of the home still lie on the woman. I think every relationship is different. People are different in a lot of ways, need different things, and respond differently to different situations. Some people enjoy being controlled, some people prefer to defer responsibility/decision making to someone else. Some people do not want to be controlled but will take it if it keeps the home together, some will become defensive and even hostile. . . .yada yada ya. I don't think any one situation is "better" than the other. It ultimately, IMO, depends on the individuals involved and whether or not they are happy/comfortable in the situation.
