You don't pick people because they are educated, you pick people because of expertise and training(PhD). How many Nigerians have a PhD or are willing to have?
How many Nigerians have publications or conference presentations in International events?
If you are interested in lecturing then have publications, have a master's degree even complete a PhD, teach for some time then you would be qualified to be a visiting lecturer. A University cannot pick you because you are interested in lecturing.
They do advertise, check guardian newspaper but the requirements are lofty.

If only you can be a bit more objective in your appraisal of the situation on ground! Firstly, the issue is about SSANU not ASUU and so the question you should ask yourself is: are SSANU members also working in multiple places like academic staff?

If SSANU is regretting its action now, shouldn't that be reason for any reasonable individual to reconsider this IPPIS issue? No, you will not do that. Apparently, you have been looking for an opportunity to rubbish ASUU just like others who are perpetually blinded to the truth!

I can't even sympathize with SSANU because their lack of cooperation with the academic staff brought them to this situation. The point is there is actually no hope for any country that rubbishes its intellectuals.

Now, let's look at your ridiculous claims of knowing of an academic staff working in up to 4 universities. Yes, let's work with your maximum of 4 and let's assume the worst scenario that this staff is a professor (because professor earns the highest salary). Let's also assume his salary is N500K. Mind you, most professors who earn up to this are already old and can barely run around as you claim.

With these four universities, this means your hypothetical and omnipresent lecturer is earning 2 million naira monthly. Actually, the man is earning 1.5M extra since he's entitled to one salary, at least.

Now, what you fail to realize is that almost 70% or more universities where lecturers do part-time jobs are either private or state universities and IPPIS cannot prevent that! I hope the picture is getting very clear to you? You seriously betrayed yourself by claiming your lecturer is working in four different federal universities! That claim is untrue and nothing but just the figment of your own biased imagination to mislead the ignorants like yourself.

This is what you and other members of the populace have not been told. IPPIS cannot and will not stop payment from state and private universities! So, what's the fuss all about? What's the total number of lecturers having multiple salaries from the the almighty FG?

Let's wake up and be realistic! The fight of ASUU is not just for her purse. The FG is not sincere and cannot be trusted. Thank God SSANU is getting to know that albeit somehow late. Once, the FG succeeds in subduing ASUU (God forbids), I'm afraid, the dying federal universities will be finally buried.

Some lecturers constantly travel between several states just to visit.
Let us even leave the qualities of their output, let us consider their own personal issues: at this period in Nigeria, they could be kidnapped, roads are not good they could have accident, what of fatigue to their own body? Many of them die prematurely because of overstretching their bodies!

but the government rarely recruit new lecturers, you won't even see the advert, you'll just hear of an opening and before you get to know more, the slot has been filled.

note: I'm not saying the adjunct needs to be abolished, I'm just saying they need to regulate it more, through a transparent means.

If government want to stop visiting, they only need to tell the Governing Councils to make a University rule that no academic employee should go visiting in any other institution and they need to obliterate visiting from the requirements of NUC!
What some people do not know is that government themselves approves the visiting actions of the lecturers through NUC. The lecturers are not doing anything illegal by visiting!

Like stopping all part time lecturing jobs in all federal universities, they know the names, account numbers and BVN of those they pay, they can trace it via this way.

Besides, some quarters of ASUU are evening accusing them of trying to create ghost workers through IPPIS because when fully implemented the school management won't even know the exact number of staff on it's payment record in Abuja!

yes, that's the issue with anything being implemented in Nigeria, they really find a way to do a wrong with what may be right.

For me, I agreed somehow with you on the issue of visiting, many lecturers overdo the thing! You talked about four, I can even tell you some do more than four but another point is that nobody will pay those visiting a full salary; for visiting I think they collect around 50% or so, of their basic salary. So, I am guessing the reason why some lecturers overdo it is because of their low salary! Yes, lecturers' salary is very low.
My main problem on this thread now is that SSANU was actually the people that raised issue here, why are we talking about ASUU instead of SSANU?

I guess people are frustrated with ASUU, SSANU already agreed before, now they back out, it's possible most people think they were influenced by ASUU's decision, that's why the attack is in ASUU.

You are wrong. IPPIS systems cuts off allowances, salaries. My wife is with them and I knew how much they cut off from her salary. Another challenge they have is the issue of loan repayment, most cooperative and banks lenders can no longer deduct from source. Coming to the multiple jobs as a lecturer...no institution can give permanent job to a lecturer already employed.

I'm looking at the ASUU, situation, not others, I don't know all about it, I'm just stating what I've heard about the ASUU even from lecturers themselves.

Lecturers below the rank of senior lecturership do not go on adjunct. To get to a senior lecturer level, an academic staff must have served for an average 12 years with dues publication requirements. just forget, even "senior" staffs don't know how not to show their selfish interest. IPPIS is just a way to curb staffs from collecting salary from more than one avenue, I don't know much about the senior staff but let me talk about the academic staff.

Let me paint a scenario for you, most federal Universities has a part time lecturer that has a full time job in another university, this is not bad but look at the case of some lecturers that go for part time lectures in as much as 3-4 other institutions, this way they are even making 3-4 people jobless because that could have been a job for fresh graduates.

I believe the IPPIS is meant to cover just one more visiting apart from your salary, ASUU will never tell you this but I will, those lecturers that have 2-3 part-time lecturing job will not want IPPIS because it will block the salary of the part-time job.
I can tell you that I know of a lecturer that has 4 part time lecturing job in another federal university, please, how will such a person have time for his own full time job, he will be joggling within states just to meet the other while not being able to put a focus on any of them, I was taught by one of them and he never had our time, then we run marathon class so as to cover up for his absenteeism.

ASUU are just motivated by selfish interest, they will never tell you this, this is not the first time that the government is changing their payment system, and it's not like their salary will be reduced, it is just those with too much of an extra work that will be affect.

I saw it last month and downloaded it again this week, I still didn't get the hype, it's just a movie about a struggle of a sick fellow, sometime I had to forward this laughing scenes, it's annoying...

the story was okay...

the rating is around 4/10 for me..

but really, Yoruba movies miseducate a lot, I'm sure there are a lot of people who believes every unfortunate incident that happens to them is as a result of "bad" people that don't want them to succeed in life. They always have to attribute it to a diabolical belief or some sort...
