THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: See yourself as God sees you.

Joy is a critical asset of irreplaceable value in the life of a child of God. If you lack joy, nothing can replace it. Money or education cannot replace it. And the enemy fights joy because of its relevance. That is why the Bible says, Rejoice…. in our anchor scripture above. That is, make a decision to rejoice because the enemy fights joy.

There are many channels the devil uses to fight joy and one of those channels is low self-esteem.

I heard the story of a man called Nicodemus the Papadolous. He had a big nose and people mocked him for having such an unusually big nose. The aim was to steal his joy, and push him into low self-esteem. But he turned his big nose into what could bring him excitement and money. He became a comedian, made so many jokes about his oversized nose and earned money. He became one of the most popular stars in his days.

Beloved, anything the devil wants you to do, do the opposite. If he wants you to mourn, rejoice. If he wants you to feel low about yourself, rise up with audacity, recognize who you are in Christ and impact your world for God.

Now, how do you handle low self-esteem?

1. See yourself as God sees you. God says that you are fearfully and wonderfully made (Psalm 139:14).
2. Decide to turn your liability into an asset. Whatever they say is wrong with you, make it right.
3. Renew your mind with the Word (Romans 12:2).
4. Reject the spirit of devaluation. Refuse to be devalued.
5. Avoid climates that emphasize your deficiency.

Beloved, do all within your powers to defend your joy.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: The vision of today is the reality of tomorrow.

It has been confirmed that vision is key to an enviable existence. Vision is necessary for an impactful existence. One reason why people live impactless lives is the lack of vision.

In our study today, we shall be looking at the necessity of vision.

The question is: why is vision necessary in life?
Vision is necessary for the following reasons:

i. What you define determines what you can discover.
What you can define determines what you can find. This means, if you don’t know what you want, you wouldn’t know it when you see it.
ii. The road you choose determines the place you end.
You cannot choose the wrong road and end at the right place. Neither can you choose the right road and end at the wrong place.
iii. A life that is left to chance has no chance.
When you leave your life to chance, and you have not defined what you want in life, you have no chance in life.
iv. Divine function happens at the frequency of human vision.
What man sees determines what God gives (Genesis 13:15). If God will give it, man must see it.
v. The vision of today is the reality of tomorrow and the reality of today was determined by the vision of yesterday.

The truth is, to begin with vision is to end with reality. My counsel for you today is to refuse to exist without vision.

Beloved, God shall give you a vision in this season that will become a reality and manifestation before the end of this year, in Jesus’ Name.

Beloved, it is knowing who you are and whose you are that gives you dominion in life. Search the scriptures and let God reveal you to you.

Beloved, there is something you can see from the Scripture that will make you shift in power, authority, audacity, and boldness. *MESSAGE*
According to E.M. Bounds, “What the Church needs today is not more machinery or better, not new organisations or more novel methods, but men whom the Holy Ghost can use - men of prayer, men mighty in prayer”. It is the men and women of prayer that the Lord needs in every age and in every place.
Prophet Samuel gathered the Israelites together in Mizpeh because the nation was in bondage to sin and the Philistines. Idolatrous worship of Baal and Ashtaroth was rampant. The people heeded the call of Samuel and put away their idols to serve God. They followed this with a time of public fasting and repentance. Samuel judged them and corrected them.

The Philistines were not happy that the Israelites were sorry for their sins. They, therefore, gathered together to attack them, especially as they did not want to lose the services the Israelites rendered as slaves. On sighting the army of the Philistines, the Israelites pleaded with Samuel to pray to God for their deliverance. Samuel had called the people to prayers of repentance but now the people called on Samuel for prayers of deliverance.

Jesus challenged the disciples always to pray and not to faint. Prayer is a vibrant weapon that the believer can wield in our walk of faith. There is always a need for prayer in our lives. It is the duty of leaders to mobilise believers to pray, especially when they are experiencing spiritual coldness and apathy. On the other hand, the congregation must turn to their leaders for prayer if they truly want a change in their spiritual and physical conditions. Believers must not murmur and complain when challenging things happen — but must see every challenge as a call to pray.

TOPIC: THE JUDGMENTAL FIRE

SCRIPTURE: For the LORD thy God is a consuming fire, even a jealous God. DEUTERONOMY 4:24.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: If they are looking for your life, they are dead.

Some years ago, a man took one of the messages I preached to his father’s house and began to play it in front of a notable wizard who was killing many people in the family. The title of the message was, They are Dead! It was anchored on the Bible story of the encounter of Joseph with an angel of God when Jesus was a child. The angel came and said to Joseph, “Take the child, and the mother back to the land of Israel for they are dead that seek the life of the child (Matthew 2:20 Paraphrased).
The anchor point of the message was, ‘They are dead!” So, if they are looking for your life, they are dead. When that message began to play, the wizard began to scream, and said he saw someone with a whip, whipping him. And it was not a normal horsetail whip. The whip was fire; we call that horsetail whip koboko in Nigeria. So, when he said it was whip but in a fire form, I called it fire-oko. Thus that wizard encountered the judgment of fire.

Beloved, one of the assignments of the Fire of God is the execution of judgment. That was the fire that “disappeared” Sodom and Gomorrah from history; it is called, judgmental fire. That was the fire that deleted one hundred and two soldiers that came to arrest Prophet Elijah (2 Kings 1:10-12). I believe that was the fire that “roasted” Ananias and Sapphira in Acts of the Apostles 5:1-11.

Today, every force of hell that is resisting the purpose of God for your life is an automatic candidate for the fire of judgment. Every family altar, ancestral curse, witchcraft or occultic conspiracy against your life, family and destiny is sentenced to the fire, in Jesus’ Name!

REMEMBER THIS: If they are looking for your life, they are dead.

ASSIGNMENTS:
1. Refuse to fear the enemy; confront him. (Luke 10:19).
2. Live an upright and guilt-free life.

TOPIC: REDEEMED FROM THE CLAIMS OF THE ENEMY

SCRIPTURE: Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers; But with the precious blood of Christ… 1 PETER 1:18-19.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: We are God’s creature, and we belong to Him.

Many years ago, I heard the story of a fisherman who took his time to create a little boat, carved it very well the way he wanted it. He was using the precious little boat with all pleasure and would anchor the boat on the seashore after use.

One day, a strong wind came, cut the anchor, and the little boat was lost in the sea.

Another fisherman saw the little boat somewhere, harvested and sold it. Then someone bought it, displayed it in his shop for sale. The owner of the little boat was looking for it. It was not that he could not make another boat, but he had a special attachment to the little boat. Suddenly, he heard that a boat that looked like his boat was put up for sale in a shop.

When he got to that shop, he saw his little boat, recognized it, and told the boat seller that he was the owner of the boat, and that it got lost. The man told him, “I am sorry! I know it is possible that it is yours, but I bought it from someone. If you can pay me the money, you will get it back.”

They agreed, he told the boat seller not to sell it to any other person that he was coming back to buy it. The man went and laboured until he was able to gather enough money to buy back the boat. Then he returned, bought back the boat, and carried it with so much excitement. He said to the boat, “Little boat! Little boat! I now own you twice. First, I created you and now, I have bought you.” What an inspiring story!

Beloved, God is our owner twice: He first created us in His image, but we got hopelessly lost in sin, and in the things of this life. Then He sent His Son Jesus to die for us, and bought us back to Himself (1Corinthians 6:20).

So, we are God’s Creature, and we belong to Him. He created us, then, He redeemed us. So, the devil cannot have any claim over you. The sacrifice of Jesus Christ on the Cross of Calvary was God’s rescue operation from all claims of the enemy on man. You owe the devil nothing!

REMEMBER THIS: We are God’s creature, and we belong to Him.

ASSIGNMENTS:
1. Violently reject any form of claim that the devil is trying to lay on your life.
2. Refuse to hearken to the dictates of the flesh.

TOPIC: THE POISON CALLED LOW SELF-ESTEEM

SCRIPTURE: And he said unto him, Oh my Lord, wherewith shall I save Israel? behold, my family is poor in Manasseh, and I am the least in my father's house. JUDGES 6:15.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: The kind of atmosphere people grow in affects the life they live.

A young boy was in the same classroom with his elder sister in Britain. It was said that he was dull-headed. One day, they asked a question in class, and he lifted his hand trying to give an answer, and he eventually gave the wrong answer. The whole class laughed and made a mockery of him. He looked towards his sister, and saw the sister laughing at him too.
That was what broke him; that is, “O! If all these people are mocking me, you, my sister, are mocking me too?” (He must have thought). He walked out of that class enraged, and vowed to hate human beings. He concluded that all human beings are bad. Eventually, he became a merciless serial killer because he felt that nobody was worth it. That is, if his sister could mock him in the class with others, then who was worth it? What a pathetic and tragic story!
This is how children later turn out to be when subjected to terrible feelings of low self-esteem.

Low self-esteem is one of the forces that fight joy and excitement. It affects energy, enthusiasm, performance, and competence. When people do not feel right about themselves, they cannot perform well in life. Many people are silently suffering low self-esteem. There are those who do not know what it means to experience love or acceptance.

Beloved, please let us be careful. Never make anyone feel inferior; be a source of inspiration, joy, and excitement. The kind of atmosphere people grow in affects the life they live.

Sometime ago, I saw an experiment where some rabbits were put in a container that was open. Another group of rabbits were put in a container that was closed. They were all struggling to get out of those containers. It was discovered that within a short time, those rabbits in the closed container began to die in rapid succession because they could see no light. But those in the open container continued to struggle for freedom for a long time because as long as they could see light, they had hope.

Beloved, light signals hope. Our anchor scripture says, …lighten mine eyes, lest I sleep the sleep of death. That is, lighten my eyes so I can have life, so I can have hope. Light indeed signals hope. That is why when people are depressed, they live in darkness. Depressed people like dark places. As light bearers, we are the hope of our generation.

Sometime ago, some people told me, “We lost hope in our country, but when we saw you pray for the nation consistently, our hope was rekindled.”

Beloved, you are a hope giver, a hope distributor. You are the hope of your family, community, and nation.

People who want to die should look at you and decide to live. When people are downcast, and they see you, they should become excited. Never exist in any realm other than that of the distribution of hope. That is why no Christian or pastor is licensed to be a negative prophecy giver. Prophecy comes for edification, exhortation, and comfort. And if anything negative is shown, it is shown so it can be nullified, and not to be prophesied. God revealed it so that you can reverse it. So, let all you do communicate hope, not despair.

REMEMBER THIS: Light signals hope.

Contemporary history reveals John D. Rockefeller as the first dollar billionaire in the USA, and indeed, in the world. He was a man who started by paying tithe of one dollar in response to the teachings of his mother. He started tithing from that day till the day of his death.

One day, he gave 140 million dollars to the University that his church was building, and people asked him, “How could you give such an amount of money to a church?” And he said, “God gave me the money in the first place, and I am giving it back to God. What is your business?” Today, The Rockefeller Foundation is spending millions in tackling sicknesses and diseases around the world.

While I was a student of Medicine, we had The Rockefeller Foundation supporting medical services in Nigeria, fighting river blindness, Vesicovaginal Fistula and other diseases. He had died long ago, but his money is still blessing this generation, and the money has not finished.

Beloved, if you want to break financial limitations and see the blessings of God in your life, determine to exist as a blessing to your generation (Genesis 12:2,3, Acts 20:35).

Be a blessing to the less privileged, widows, orphans, priests, missionaries, and the kingdom of God, etc. and you are going to break the back of the spirit of wretchedness.

Prayer for money is a waste of time where the lifestyle of giving is not in place (2 Corinthians 9:6,7).

Beloved, who are you blessing? Who is feeding from your table other than you and your family?

You make the most of life if you live to fight the battles of others. The battles may not be yours, but you take it upon yourself to fight for the sake of others.

One day, a woman came to see me and said, “My son is in second year in the university studying Medicine, but his father cannot sponsor him because he is an irresponsible man, a drunkard. Now, my son is about to drop out of school.”
I studied medicine and I know what it takes to gain admission to study Medicine. The question I asked was: “Is it necessary for this one who has already gained the admission to drop out?” No way!
I told the woman that we would take care of her son’s school fees till his graduation.
We started paying his school fees from the second year until he graduated and became a doctor.
Thereafter, the young doctor came to see me and said, “Sir, I came just to thank you for helping me to fulfil my vision of becoming a medical doctor. Thank you for not allowing my dream to be aborted.”
I then looked at him and said, “Don’t thank me. All I want from you is, go and pick someone in a similar situation and lift him up, and tell that person to do same to another person, and let the chain continue.”

Beloved, this is how to live. I release upon you today, the grace to go and do likewise in Jesus’ name.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: One way to deal with the spirit of fear is to guard your heart consciously and continuously against negative news reports or stories.

It has been confirmed that fear is one deadly enemy of life and destiny. The devil has crippled many lives through the spirit of fear. This is because fear hinders a person from taking giant steps in life.
Our anchor Scripture reveals that God has not given us the spirit of fear. This means, we must deal with every form of fear in our lives.

Now, one way to deal with the spirit of fear is to guard your heart consciously and continuously against negative news reports or stories.

Although there are stories that flow into your ears that you may not be able to avoid, consciously make up your mind not to look for negative stories or reports. Do not dwell on the negative.

Sometime ago, I went to one city in the South-Western part of Nigeria for a programme. The protocol officer who was assigned to pick me from the airport had no other story to tell me other than how terrible armed robbers in the town were. That was the only story he could tell a stranger who just arrived in the town for the first time.
He said, “Sir, in this city, armed robbers operate terribly. The way they operate breaks the heart. Their operation is as if they are not human beings. They are so terrible.”
I was just listening to this man. And then, he went and dropped me in the hotel that had no light and left.

The truth is, no matter how great your faith is, as a man of God, there are things you must not allow yourself to hear. Maybe, I would have shut him up on the spot.
When this protocol officer left me in the hotel, I had to use my faith to deal with witches, wizards, armed robbers and wicked people throughout the night.

My counsel is: guard your heart against negative news or reports so you can establish and protect your faith.

REMEMBER THIS: One way to deal with the spirit of fear is to guard your heart consciously and continuously against negative news reports or stories.

ASSIGNMENTS:
1. Refuse to give attention to or look for negative news reports or stories.
2. Always renew your mind and believe only the report of God for your life.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: One of the best ways to honour God is to command the submission of multitude to worship Him.

Sometime ago, I was privileged to preach in Lagos at the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) alongside Papa E. A. Adeboye during an Annual Leadership Conference. I preached on “Church growth” as a topic.
When I finished preaching, he came and concluded the message. He continuously made references to the things I preached and then said, “We need big churches in the world. How I wished a Church can build a sanctuary of about five hundred thousand capacity and other churches around the world would follow suit and build such mega capacity sanctuaries. Then, the Body of Christ would be the one to decide who should be the president of a country per time, what should happen per time, and how the mayors, governors, ministers should be elected or selected.”

The truth is, if the people of God have enough size. If everyone joins forces together and says that no corrupt person, no killer, no criminal, and nobody with bad or dubious records, etc. can be a leader, it would stand.

Beloved, one of the best ways to honour God is to command the submission of multitudes to worship Him. And if the multitude can follow Jesus to the wilderness, you can compel multitudes anywhere in the world to worship God. Even if you are a business man, you are not permitted to run a dry business. Whatever you do in the Name of God is not permitted to be dry. If you can see one unbeliever with any form of patronage in the same business, it is an insult on the grace you carry if you lack patronage.

My question is, as a church member or worker, what is your part in commanding multitudes to honour of God? Do you win souls for Christ or invite them to Church? You are only truly honourable when your life brings honour to God by the gathering of multitudes to worship Him.

REMEMBER THIS: One of the best ways to honour God is to command the submission of multitudes to worship Him.

ASSIGNMENTS:
1. Make up your mind that your life would bring honour to God.
2. Win souls for Christ; invite someone to church so they can be blessed and be planted.

It has been confirmed that the value of your life is the impact you make in the lives of others. We are created to impact our generation. We exist to show the world through our impact, who our God is.
You see, as a child of God, someone must be drawing from your life because of your impact and influence. Someone must be benefitting from your life, physically, mentally or spiritually.
The truth is, if there is no one learning from you, it is possible that your life is wasting.

As a young lady, is there any younger lady who is saying concerning you, “I want to be like that sister? I like her fire and passion.”

I remember when I was in the University, there was a young man who repented and gave his life to Jesus Christ.
Wherever I stood to pray in the medical student’s fellowship gathering, he would stand beside me to pray.
One day, I asked him, “What are you doing?”
“I am just observing you. I want to pray like you are praying,” he answered.
Today, that young man is a pastor and he is doing very well.

I remember in those days in the university, people would just come to our room. When I asked, “what did you come for?” They would say, “I just came to catch the atmosphere.” This was because the atmosphere of the place was a prayer atmosphere; the atmosphere of God’s Presence.

In your life, there should be someone who would look at you and say, “Please, show me how to move; show me how to be a successfully married man; show me how to combine academics and spirituality, and not fail in any of them.”

Beloved, you must make up your mind to live a life of impact.

REMEMBER THIS: If there is no one learning from you, it is possible that your life is wasting.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: Being interested in others is one character that lifts men from their low estates to higher grounds.

Being interested in others is one character that lifts men from their low estates to higher grounds.

That was what Joseph did. While in prison, he saw the sad countenances of his fellow prisoners and showed care and interest. The care he showed in interpreting their dreams was his stepping stone to the palace. This means, the care or interest you show someone today can take you to your palace tomorrow.
You see, unlike Joseph, there are church members today who can see their fellow brethren in bad shapes of life, and pass by without showing any care for them.

Sometime ago, I saw someone putting on a piece of suit that looked like a “coat” of those days.
Then, I called him and said to him, “You know what, do not wear this “suit” again for life because it is no longer wearable. I will give you two new ones as mantles.” Then I prayed for him. Afterwards, I called him and gave him the two suits as I earlier told him. Tears filled his eyes, and he said with gratitude, “Sir, you did not only tell me the problem, you solved it for me.”

Today, many people see the problems of others, but instead of helping to solve the problems, they criticise and sometimes mock the people. They would say, “Look at him! Look at the shoes he is wearing, as if it is a masquerades'!”
What a heart! Truth is, people do not even care whether you have the solution to their problems. If only you can show genuine interest and care, they will value it.

Beloved, show interest in the brethren and in the people you come across. Show interest. Show care.

REMEMBER THIS: Being interested in others is one character that lifts men from their low estates to higher grounds.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: Your love for God is proved by your giving to God.

A young man met me in my office some time ago. He said to me, “Sir, I remember you pulled me out from the crowd in a special program we had in church many years ago. The program was titled ‘A September to Remember’ and the date was 09/09/99. You prophesied that I would be a commander and controller of resources.”

Then he continued, “That prophecy came to pass and in excess.”
Today, that young man has many people working under him. There are people working under him that receive income in millions of Naira every month. His own income is in six figures daily. He is very rigid and faithful in covenant practices.
He told me, “I do not want any negative story around my life. I want the account details of the church so I can make monetary transfers any time. I do not want to give any form of excuse for not paying my tithe. I want to do these things very faithfully because there are many enemies today. I want to be securely under cover. I do not want to leave my life to chance.” That is wisdom!

Beloved, passion or heart for giving is also a proof of love for God. When you love God, you are a natural giver, or an effortless giver to His cause in the earth.

Today, I see people or workers in church who are so busy with the Work of God. But when it is giving time, they just ignore it as if they are not aware. When I see people act like that, I know that they do not understand. That is not wisdom at all.

God proved His Love for us by giving (John 3:16). Solomon loved God and he gave massively (1Kings 3:3-4). In love, there is giving. Your love for God is proved by your giving to God.

REMEMBER THIS: Your love for God is proved by your giving to God.

ASSIGNMENTS:
1. Make up your mind to love God deeply from your heart.
2. Release to the God you love the resources He has given you.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: Depression is a major platform for the destruction of life, health and system.

It has been confirmed that depression is an attack on life and destiny. Extreme depression is a mental ill health condition. But joy is medicinal; joy is therapeutic.
When you squeeze your face in depression, you freeze your life, and when you freeze your life, you freeze your destiny. Depression is a major platform for the destruction for life, health and system (1 Corinthians 10:10). That will not be your portion in Jesus’ Name.

Sometime ago, I was talking with one of my children. The moment we started talking, she started laughing. She laughed and laughed and laughed.
Then my wife said, “Ah! You children, tell me what Daddy does to you that you keep laughing all the time.”
My wife has the gift of smiling and I have the gift of making people laugh. So, I keep my home filled with excitement and joy instead of tension or depression.

In the course of a study I did some years ago, I came across an American writer called Zig Ziglar.
He said there was a study done about octogenarians, that is, people who lived up to eighty years and above. The study was to reveal the secret of their longevity. And one of the core secrets of those people was a healthy sense of humour. It was observed that those octogenarians lived long because they knew how to laugh and be happy. They also knew how to make other people happy.
By living in the realm of happiness, they lived up to eighty years and above.

Beloved, by all means, reject depression. Choose the pathway of joy and you will find a healthy long life.

REMEMBER THIS: Depression is a major platform for the destruction for life, health and system.

ASSIGNMENTS:
1. By all means, refuse to be depressed.
2. Make the choice for joy and happiness. Determine your environment and do not allow your environment to determine your behaviour.

Today, we live in a generation where young men and women find it difficult to respect people, especially elders. In our generation, young men and women find it difficult to greet elders. They wait for the elders to greet them first.
A young person may see an elderly person passing by and will be looking at the person without greeting. That is the mystery of this generation. That is not godliness! That is not Christianity! That is not of God!
Some other persons find it difficult to show appreciation. For example, if someone helped you or did something for you, no matter how little it may be, it is in order to say “Thank you. I appreciate what you have done. I do not take it for granted.” But the people we have these days would not do that.
What stops you from sending text message of appreciation or even buying an appreciation card for the person that did something good for you?
And because people find it difficult to show appreciation, the door of breakthrough is closed against them.
When someone assists or favours you, but you do not have the courtesy of appreciation, further doors will be closed against you.
Worse still, some people find it very difficult to apologise or to say, “I am Sorry”. Others lack the virtue of saying kind words to people.
You see, all these are the reasons why favour is lacking today. These are the reasons why the door of favour is closed against many people in our generation today.

Beloved, determine never to be part of the decadence of our generation. Maintain good character.

REMEMBER THIS: The calamity of every generation is traceable to character decadence; a generation decays when their character decays.

ASSIGNMENTS:
1. Refuse to be part of the character decadence of this generation.
2. Be different in character and lifestyle. Show the virtues of goodness, respect, courtesy, and appreciation.

PRAYER: Lord, I ask that You deliver me from the character decadence of this generation. I receive the grace to show or display quality character, Lord, in Jesus’ Name.
