A teacher at Lakeview Elementary School in Sugar Land, Texas has won the admiration of people after she did something phenomenal to make her student feel good about herself.

Ms. Bishop told a Black student of hers that her hair was lovely but the child did not believe it and still felt insecure about it. So, Bishop turned up at school the following day with her hair styled exactly like the student's own. The smile on the little girl's face at seeing her teacher wearing the same her as hers was enough to show that the teacher had achieved her aim of making the girl feel more beautiful and confident in her natural hair.

Ms. Bishop's story was shared on Twitter and Twitter users showered her with praise for her action. The post got over 122,000 retweets.

Bishop responded to all the love on Twitter saying: "Wow!!! Thank you so much [for] sharing this is just me simply living my purpose....teaching children (and all people) to feel whole & loved!! Thank you again for sharing"

On 19 January 2018, a 28-year-old man shockingly killed his neighbour. The woman was reported to have asked him severally “When are you getting married?”.

The repeated queries however angered the man and prompted him to commit the murder.

This outrageous incident took place in Kampung Pasir Jonge, Indonesia.

The man identified as Faiz Nurdin got irritated with the question his pregnant neighbour, Aisyah asked him while he was sitting in front of his house.

According to sources close to the two neighbours, 32-year-old Aisyah had asked him to get married as soon as possible, since all his friends within the neighborhood had gotten married and it seemed Faiz was the only bachelor left in the vicinity.

The suspect however didn’t take the scolding lightly and in his reaction, he stormed into her home and strangled her to death.

“The suspect revealed that the woman said, ‘Faiz get married, the others are already married, why aren’t you getting married yet?’ These words offended the suspect,” a spokesperson from the police force said.

“We also gathered that Faiz who felt insulted with the question, stormed Asiyah’s home and strangled her to death with his bare hands in her bedroom. She had bitten his fingers while trying to defend herself, but the man overpowered her and killed the helpless woman” police said.

After committing the crime, Faiz made away with the woman’s cell phone and stole some items from her home, including cash amounting $59. He was said to have absconded from the scene and later showed up hoping he could not be suspected for the murder. However he was arrested upon inquiry as Faiz couldn’t give a concrete explanation on the alibi he had established.

He was then taken to the police station for further questioning. There he made the confession on how he was triggered to kill the woman for scolding him about marriage.

Lagos State Government has arrested no fewer than 200 cart pushers across all the 57 Local Governments and Local Council Development Areas of the State for constituting environmental nuisances.

The arrest was made possible through a joint environmental sanitation raid by the Lagos State Neighborhood Safety Corps and Lagos State Environmental Sanitation Corps whose enforcement officers simultaneously arrested cart pushers who pick refuse from citizens and dump wastes at roadsides, major roads and other public places across the State.

Speaking on the arrest at Safety Arena, Bolade, Oshodi, the Board Chairman of the Lagos State Neighborhood Safety Corps, DIG Isreal Ajao said a cleaner and healthier Lagos remains a top priority of the state government in its transition from a mega city to a smart city.

“If a government is transcending from mega-city to smart city, all the components must be there. The key component of a Smart City is a clean and healthy environment”, he stated.

He said indiscriminate dumping of refuse on road medians, drainages, highways and everywhere will not be tolerated as the government has committed a lot of human and material resources to ensure Lagos remains a healthy habitation for all through the Cleaner Lagos Initiative.

The Chairman called on residents of the State to stop patronizing cart pushers, but rather support the authorized waste manager, which is the VisionScape.

“Residents of the State should buy-in to the Cleaner Lagos initiative and sustainable environment. Of course, you know without a healthy body you cannot have a healthy life. Offenders will be prosecuted under the State sanitation law. This will serve as a deterrent to others. Residents should dispose of their refuse in a manner that is authorized”, he said.

On his part, the Corp Marshall, Lagos State Environmental Sanitation Corps, ACP Daniel Isiofa (RTD) noted that dumping of refuse on road medians will affect drainages, which could cause more disaster to the environment during the rainy season.

He said that all the arrested environmental offenders will be charged under the Lagos Environmental Sanitation Law with a minimum penalty of community service, 20,000 Naira and maximum 50,000 Naira fines, adding that there could be a jail term too especially for repeat offenders.

Sprint star Usain Bolt will undergo a trial with Borussia Dortmund in a bid to earn a professional contract at Manchester United.

The Jamaican, an all-time athletics legend after winning eight Olympic golds, retired after damaging his hamstring in his last ever race at the World Championships in London last year.

After recovering from that injury, the 31-year-old has reiterated his desire to switch sports, claiming he has held talks with the club’s legendary former manager Alex Ferguson over a possible United deal, while his long mooted Dortmund trial is still on the cards.

“The injury is now fine and I’m back fully fit,” Bolt, the 100 metres world-record holder, told the Express.

“In March we’re going to do trials with Dortmund and that will determine what I do with that career, which way it goes. If they say I’m good, and that I need a bit of training, I’ll do it.

“It makes me nervous. I don’t get nervous but this is different, this is football now. It’ll take time to adjust but once I play a few times I’ll get used to it. It was the same when I started track and field.

“I was nervous for a while until I started getting used to the crowd, people and everyone around and it falls into place.

“One of my biggest dreams is to sign for Manchester United. If Dortmund say I’m good enough, I’ll crack on and train hard. I’ve spoken to Alex Ferguson and I told him he needs to put in a good word. He told me if I get fit and ready, he will see what he can do.”

Bolt, who won 11 World Championship gold medals in a glittering sprinting career, indicated he has sought advice from Paul Pogba over a potential football career.

“I do think I have a chance,” Bolt added. “I watch a lot of football, I understand it, I play it. With training, I could be good.

“Me and Pogba talk a lot. I watch and ask him a lot of questions. I want to play but it has to be in the top league. I’m not content to be average.

“It’s going to be hard because my career has been so great but if I could win a Champions League or something, it’ll be close to anything I achieved in athletics.

“But I have to be more than average. It has to be in the top league because we have a lot of teams that have offered us deals, just random clubs. I want to be the best.

“I personally want to play on the wing but I know, listening to everybody and talking to footballers, that I will be put up top.

“I strive to be the best and if I get a chance to play for a team like Manchester United it will be a massive deal. I don’t miss the sprint training. I miss the competition, and getting out on the track in front of the crowd, but not the training.

“I will definitely want to get up and go train and be excited just to play at Old Trafford.”
