On Friday, Ayo Fayose the Governor of Ekiti State signed the N98.6 billion budget for 2018 into law.

The state House of Assembly had on December, 19 passed the budget as presented by the governor. Signing the budget at the Government House in Ado Ekiti, the governor commended the assembly for ensuring its early passage.

“This is the last budget I will sign as governor of Ekiti, having done the little God had helped me to do. I commend the assembly for standing by me. It is my prayer that this assembly will continue to grow from strength to strength. You have demonstrated responsible leadership. I’m not in doubt record will show you as one of the best assemblies we ever had in the history of Ekiti" he said.

The 2018 budget, code-named “Budget of Accomplishment”, was presented at a plenary presided over by the Speaker Kola Oluwawole on Dec. 5. READ: EFCC Arrests Fake Investigator Over Attempt to Defraud Gov. Al Makura The budget is greater than 2017 estimates of N93.09 billion by 5.5 per cent. It consists of N66.4 billion recurrent and N32.1 billion capital expenditures.

A trader was sentenced to 18 years' jail and 10 strokes last Friday in Malaysia, for raping his 10-year-old daughter last September.

Sessions Court judge Ahmad Bazli Bahruddin imposed the sentence after the 50-year-old pleaded guilty.

The judge ordered the sentence to begin from Oct 13, the date he was arrested.

The father of eight was alleged to have raped his daughter, then aged 10 years and four months, at an unnumbered house in Beris Kubur Besar, Bachok, between 9.30pm and 11.15 pm on Sept 22.

According to the facts, the accused had gone to his ex-wife's house to fetch the victim to stay at his home before the incident happened but the victim refused to follow him.

However, after she was coaxed by her mother, she agreed to follow her father. About 11.30pm, when the victim was sent home by her sister, her mother noticed she was behaving differently and questioned her.

The victim then told her mother that she had been raped and that this was not the first time.
On Oct 12, the father went to the victim's house again and wanted to take her to his house, but the mother refused to allow him to take the girl.

The mother then lodged a police report.
Deputy public prosecutor Siti Hajar Alias prosecuted while the accused was unrepresented.

Facebook user, Ujunwa Vivian Ufondu, took to the platform to pen down a heartfelt post to her sister, Chinasaram Ufondu, who emerged UNN’s best graduating student for 2016/2017 academic session, with 4.90 CGPA out of 5.00.

“I have heard of great people who have done great things, but I never knew that I had one around me. My Blood, my Sister,the one I left breast for.
Your birth into our family pai as a consolation from God after he liberated us from the enemies fighting against us, that was y Daddy named yu CHINASARAM OKWU ( God has answered me) since then, yur life has been filled with manifestations of God’s favour n grace starting from when yur were awarded Scholarship in yur Primary school by His Grace Archbishop A.K Obiefuna, of blessed memory, during his Episcopal Silver Jubilee Celebration. Yu attented Loyola Jesuit College Abuja, one of the best schools in Nigeria,a school filled with students with “hot brains”. Yur life is full of testimonies, I remember yur university days, how yu worked to hard to make sure yu cover all, sometimes yu will be so sick that only Lucozade Boost will be yur sustenance, I remember vividly yur 400L, when our daddy died a week to yur 3rd Professional examination, yu were so down that yu were in and out of the hospital through out yur exams, yet results came out, yu made 5 distinctions out of 6, Indeed our God is great. Daddy Freeze describes Pastor Adeboye's sermon as the 'kind of false preaching that probably plunged us into poverty

Daddy Freeze, the self styled leader of the 'Freethesheeple' movement continues his campaign against paying tithes and calling out Nigerian pastors.

Thursday evening, he shared a video of one of Pastor Adeboye's sermon where he said, 'the only reason we take offering at all is because, that's the only way to get you out of poverty'.

Freeze describes it as falshood saying, 'this is the kind of false preaching that probably plunged us into poverty in the first place!'.

Yoruba actress and film maker, Lola Ajibola has revealed in an interview that having just one man is dangerous.

According to her, loving only one man can lead to heartbreak. She however advises women to have more than one man in their lives, explaining that if one disappoints, they can easily run into the arms of the other.

She further revealed that she has suffered heartbreak on different ocassions and no longer has time for a relationship.

She said,

“It is very dangerous to love one man alone because men are generally heart breakers. It is better to love two, if one disappoints you, you can easily go to the other one. It is the fault of men, they cannot be relied upon. For me, I don’t love.

For those that are in love, and keeping one man, they should know love is a dangerous game. When asked if it is possible for a woman to love two men at the same time, she answered in the affirmative. “Yes, it is quite possible. My heart has been broken so many times. Love is wicked and it is a very dangerous game. Good luck to those in love. For me, I don’t love.”

Five people died and 19 sustained injuries in multiple accidents involving 15 vehicles at Kara Bridge, on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.

Four hangers-on were crushed when a train hit a truck at Abbatoir in Agege.

The accident at Kara that occurred around 7am caused a traffic gridlock for several hours.

Operatives of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Agency (TRACE), Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) and soldiers were at the scene.

The Nation gathered that a vehicle lost control and crashed into another; others smashed into one another in quick succession.

The vehicles included a MAN Diesel marked JJJ342XD, DAF trucks – APP769XR and GGE818XC, two Sino trucks – KRD122XC and KRD123XC, a Mack truck – BDG561XG, a Nissan Cabster – XS216KSF, two Honda Accord cars – MUS411DG and APP303DV, Lexus Jeep – FKJ 475BR, Volkswagen bus – KTU594XM, Ford Bus – KTU340XU, Mazda Bus – AKD520XW and Nissan Bus – BDG27AA.

LASEMA’s General Manager Adesina Tiamiyu, who was at the scene, said: “The multiple accidents involved 15 vehicles, comprising seven trucks, a pick-up, three cars and four buses.

“Five lives were lost and 19 adults – 11 males and eight females – sustained various degrees of injuries.”

In the Agege accident, it was gathered that the train hit a truck marked MYM63XA, which attempted to make a turn on the rail track.

The four men who died were said to be hanging on the train. They fell during the collision. Those who sustained injuries were treated by the Lagos State Ambulance Service (LASAMBUS).

Commissioner for Special Duties, Oluseye Oladejo led emergency responders, including LASEMA, LASAMBUS, Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA), Lagos Neighbourhood and Safety Corps (LNSC), Rapid Response Squad (RRS), Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) and the police to the Agege accident scene.

The Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC’s) Lagos District Manager, Mr Jerry Ochei, said the trailer was hit by the train while reversing, killing and injuring passengers that were hanging on the train.

“Police assisted in evacuating the injured and the dead. The train did not derail. It continue and arrived its destination at Iddo safe,” he said.

Tiamiyu urged motorists to adhere to road safety rules, noting that people who hang on moving trains/vehicles should desist to avoid reoccurrence.
