Stbillion: I have blender 3D on my laptop but dont exactly how to start.
im little good in photoshop, please help
google for tuts on youtube and start from there.
Preboy: thanks @Yinskey and tos87... I'm most grateful
@kazuna your works are good and trully inspiring... I dunno if you guys are still serious about the open movie thing, bt I've been seriously cracking my brain trying to cook up something short and relatable. so what exactly should it be about; Nigeria, rural(kings and chiefs), ghetto life, politicians, terrorist activities, love, sci-fi, friendship etc.
you are welcome. Concerning your request I for one would like a urban scene, not pure Nigerian...at least Africa n the world can tap one or two things from it. If am to choose I will go for a thriller short movie. But that's not my point of emphasis. Like I did say before we do have our areas of greatness as regards to blender3D and our system spec is not the same. Anyways, I think that shouldn't be a problem...let's set it in motion first, perhaps when the interested ones surfaces we then talk about the challenges.

Yinksey: goto to the render tab with a camera icon , scroll down till you find the sampling section. then increase the number of render samples from 10 to an higher number. although the higher the longer it takes to render...
leave the preview samples at 10 only the render samples.

the way cycles handle lighting is different from that of blender internal, it either a sun lamp, spot lamp or an object with emission shader.

I recommend Andrew price "introduction to cycles" tutorial
you can also turn the no caustic on. Click on light paths to see it.

kazuna: Dammm Goodness
Its high time we group together...somehow, and do a project. We shan't wait till we get to Pixar level before we could build. I propose we do a project, pullin all out learnt skills and comin out wt somethang.
What do you guyz say?
Is a nice idea...and a good one too. But first we should know our areas of greatness also our system specifications defers. Like I said is a good Idea.

Yinksey: @tos8 i am using the trial version, but i downloaded the infinite crack stuff to reset it when it expire, cant really remeber the download link now, but you can do a quick google search for it, it is a small file.
ok, I have tried it it isn't working for me. I have it but didn't know how to go about it.
Art, Graphics & VideoRe: 3D ENTHUSIAST ZONE: Blender 3d For The Novice Of The Highest Order! by Tos87(m): 9:10am On Sep 13, 2014
Yinksey: thanks, surely it has, just being lazy though, since i have crazy bump. will work more on the scene and post the updates here.
since I lost my crazybump can't lay my hands on any for now. And at computer village, they know nothing of such. Do you have they trial version or the real thing?
And any one here who can help me to get the real software...I will appreciate. Better still any potential alternative to it ?
Art, Graphics & VideoRe: 3D ENTHUSIAST ZONE: Blender 3d For The Novice Of The Highest Order! by Tos87(m): 9:38pm On Sep 12, 2014
Yinksey: I noticed the scene looks quite dull, so I decided to add some life to it with a basic composition in Photoshop!
nice work... like the grass. I can see that the tree addon is very handy for you. anyways all i can say is that you should create variety in the trees that will make it look more realistic. nice work still.

Preboy: the remake of the coffee cup

plz help correct any error
your work, needs more touching,in that case, you need to practice the more. know the different blender tools and there functions. that will help you during
mesh modelling. also camera placement, try to position your camera properly for better view .know about the horizontal and vertical view and when to use which. lighting is also Paramount. search for Andrew price basic lighting tut on YouTube .however, work more on modelling technique master the extruding, scaling, and smooth shading tools. please please and please always do your modelling using picture image as a reference. I bet you ever good artist does .

CODEEATER: I don't know y...I just don't like blender... its cool n all,but I just don't dig it...

I prefer 3ds max,c4d n Maya, which support gray extension... blender doesn't... with vRay,photorealistic images are made possible, am not saying blender lacks realism, just that its not "professional" I guess...

but either way,I've got em all installed anyway.. using digital tutors as my Learning center...
blender supports vray ...been professional depends on the artist.

rodmann: Hi everyone, i just stumbled on this thread, and its great to know there is some kind of blender community here.I recently downloaded blender and its been mad fun ever since, though its not been easy finding the time to really follow through on my mini projects. I see a whole lot of great 3d modelling going on here but noticed that there are very few "FREE" tutorials/ guides on 3D animation here or any where else on the internet.
Please can anyone point me in the right direction, any tips will be very helpful. Also thought I would contribute to the thread by sharing my very first renders...very amateur stuff though. grin. Comments and criticisms are very welcome...
like the character....guess is rigged. you good wink
work on your lighting...follow Andrew Price video tutorial on three point lighting. it will help.

cgniyi: My apologies! smiley I just assumed any software that has sculpting features ( modo, Blender,c4d) is optimized to handle very high polygon count.
Seems Zbrush is very unique.
It's still just 32bits and it handles high polycounts better than other 64bit softwares.
It also doesn't need a high-end graphics card to run, unlike Mudbox.

I advice everyone to check out Zbrush
...hmm i stil beleive ma blender guys can do better.

prof800: I think the challenge is to model according to the 'pose'.

Tho, A 'DaVinci Pose' should be okay IMO.

BUT....
Since rigging is not part of the workflow for The Challenge. There will be some difficulty in achieving the original 'Lava man' pose.

I need clarification from cgniyi and OKX ASAP... sad
ok boss. Pls guys i need help on the hand.

unlock ur mind bro, stop saying 'cant'. Dats d essence of this exercise, to widen our horizons.

tweak d reference image in any editing software of choice, like Photoshop to straighten it out. Then use it as a guide to draw and create ur own texture map.

then create the rock effect as a displacement map, giving as much detail as u desire.

there is enough info in the reference image to creatively texture the complete character, or maybe i don't understand ur comment.
care to clarify?

@xothermik
lol, lend ur experience man. I know u wrote the book on mapping generally. wink
