U said u were in b/city 2006 abi? Ok tell me their main mode of recreation for the 'youths our age'
Nothing specially different. They play football as they have plenty of space for large field unlike lagos and do same way as youths from other states I've lived in. You're talking about them speaking pidgin, which is quite fair and communicative enough for the local ones compared to ibadan where i lived and their equivalent wouldn't even understand English as they only speak their deep dialect.

#2. Edo has less than 20 SCIENCE teachers well I don't know neither do I think that's possible (if it is then i'm sure the state would use the NYSC program to augment it) but 20huh Nah I need evidence b4 I believe such.

As for rebranding pls ask any edo guy u knw, edo pple don't go to school! Pidgin is spoken there with an accent! That's y edo n delta pidgin dey sweet people to hear.

This is a true story bro: I went to benin to write my waec the school was @ uwasota, ugbowo (just 30naira bus to uniben) I realised I was being ostracised by the students there...why? Cos I spoke english! Azzin they didn't understand english well and their orientation was so bad they felt inferior...this is the capital o.

While walking home my only friend there told me not to blame them, but blame igbenedion. This was 2006.

When oshiomole came in, he renovated many dilipidated schools STATE WIDE...do u know how much that costs?

He made edos go back to school while simultaneously declaring war on substandard unlicensed schools. Bro prior to oshiomole the only biz in b/city was *open school* or *sell card*.

Even in uniben back then we noticed deltans outnumbered edolites 6-1(if not more) and most of us (edos) were even living outside edo.
Today benin's go to school whilst still learning handwork mostly weekends.(this is as @ 2013 when I went there last)

As for the quality of the education, I dunno. But I knw enrollment into schools improved.
Wow, i cannot believe what i just read. Edo people does not go to school? this is ludicrous. I fall perfectly in same category as you on this. I went to Benin to write my Neco in 2006 and waec in 2007 and stayed at uselu which is not far from ugbowo and the last time i was there was 2012. There's absolutely no child i see that don't go to school and they mostly speak good English if not for the pidgin accent which is used. Which kind talk be that nah!
Christianity Etc › Re: Why Do People Name Their Children 'jacob'. Is The Name Even Good? by tosinjay(m): 6:33pm On Jul 03, 2016
The fact that God changed his name doesn't mean it had a bad meaning or anything bad about the name to attract the change but that he had a more purposeful name for him. People tend to abandon names because of historical happening and all that, as Judas ended badly, Jezebel ended badly meanwhile the name Jezebel itself isn't even a name is bad meaning. There's nothing wrong with the name and for Judas, no one wanna associate with such a name because of how Judas ended.
Christianity Etc › Re: Can A Born Again Christian Be A Traditional Ruler In Nigeria? by tosinjay(m): 6:07pm On Jul 03, 2016
Christians are not deceived, the fact that the Ooni called Jesus his father doesn't mean he's a true believer, in any case as the word "traditional ruler" implies it has tradition to it which means one would have to engage in those traditional rituals and being a Christian it does mean one is serving two masters.

A Christian can be a king/Oba etc and maintain being a Christian but not necessarily a traditional one practicing the tradition of those serving other gods. He keeps to his Christian faith solely and rule the people as a Christian that's the only way for a Christian king. God is not a respecter of persons or traditions.

Family › Re: Relatives Turning Us Into Their World Bank by tosinjay(m): 10:01pm On Jun 27, 2016
This has nothing to do with bible oo, since the father is irresponsible, the bible makes it clear that fathers must play their fatherly responsibility.

You people can prayerfully attend to this but the bible doesn't restrict you from sending her back home, she could even be possessed with wrecking damages, kilode!
But probably her up bringing is a factor in her character, better still you can groom her like your own child to develop and change attitude.

How was it worldly? He married from outside the church, does that make it worldly? It's just some old church traditions which isn't necessarily Biblical that Kumiyi himself has started trashing out now.

I'm an atheist, it seems religion is blindfolding your brain because that's what I can tell from your post.

If so, please try to read up on humanism and objectivity.. It helps to be educated on matters you reply to.
Ok good you declared being an atheist, Bible is the constitution for Christians and as long as Nigerians aren't forced to become Muslims, our laws aren't opposing Biblical views so thanks. In the afterlife we go see who humanism and objectivity don help. Byebye
Christianity Etc › Re: When a government is becoming ungodly: should Christians continue to obey? by tosinjay(m): 12:32pm On Jun 27, 2016
davien:
Then why protest against jail time for disobeying the government? ... you reap the fruits of your own acts.

Judging by your post you seem to think everyone should make laws based on what seems "moral", well sorry to disappoint you but morals are something that differs for everyone based on personal prejudices... which is religion for you in particular.

For a country to effectively operate in the best interest of its citizens, it has to be able and ready to put personal morals judged by prejudices aside in favour of one's that promote the wellbeing of everyone.

That's why abortion is legal, a woman has a right to terminate a pregnancy because it's her body, nobody is obligated to force a baby on her..

And physical abuse often goes unchecked, which is why the youths in Nigeria prefer jungle justice because they've been bred by "the rod"... punishment doesn't have to be physical to make someone understand what he/she must not do.... it(physical punishment) only promotes the idea of not getting caught.

Societies that carelessly make morals and ethics into laws often collapse under the weight of the very same laws they wish to keep..
I tire for you oo, are you an atheist, mormon or what exactly? Because no true Christian will let evil laws prevail over his faith. I hate going back and forth when it doesn't worth it. All your points aren't tenable!!

davien:
No that's not how it works, you see in a business where you are obligated to follow the constitution... It's against the law to disobey or breach any form of rule laid down.

The government gives you the right to stock up shop so it's only fair that you abide by the rules.

You won't say because your religion is against black people or gays, you'll refuse to render your service.. that's cheating not only those customers but the government itself that recognises and let's you own and set up a business.

In Nigeria and as Nigerians that don't know their rights both as customers and human beings, we'll merely shove and move to the next business... which actually does more harm than good.
I get you already and understood what you say even before saying all, but that's the part of the laws that going by the authority of the Bible the government's law becomes ungodly and i wouldn't them.

To be frank in my view of the US, it's the most corrupt nation on earth morally and US have got a lot of laws that aren't godly backing their moral stands. I will not spare the rod on my children, i will not let them grow spoilt, abortion is evil let alone being legal, more reason i don't fancy USA and if i were to ever live there i will not obey many of the laws that contradicts Scriptures!!
Christianity Etc › Re: When a government is becoming ungodly: should Christians continue to obey? by tosinjay(m): 2:43am On Jun 27, 2016
davien:
As a public government official in the United States, you aren't allowed to use a religion to discriminate any individual.

That was why punishment is given to anyone using religion to refuse service of any customer... gays have rights just like everyone else.
And that's where the essence of the thread lies. If i were in the US, will simply decline such happily as open service calls towards my God. I've done that countless of times in my business line where i was rendering payment service for people and i turned down payments for some items i deemed ungodly. Unlike the the US Nigeria will lawfully jail such aspiring gay couple if the law prevail as it's lawful in this land.

It's rather the other way round, that i consider the person turning down the service who is punished to be discriminated upon as according to his/her faith it's damaging to the soul than beneficial to anyone's emotions. Why don't the gay persons turn to others for such service. As long as one do not humiliate, or harm them the best is they take their leave.

What do you do when the word of god contradicts itself?

Or when your religious leaders contradict the word of god?
What i said isn't about the word of God contradiction of itself but the law of the authority and that of the word of God.

The word of God does not contradict itself as we compare Scripture with Scriptures inline with the new covenant.

If the religious leader contradict the word we know he's either ignorant or a false leader, the word is above any one.
Christianity Etc › Re: When a government is becoming ungodly: should Christians continue to obey? by tosinjay(m): 6:16pm On Jun 26, 2016
For the most part, Nigerian government hasn't got any law against the word of God.
Like America who will punish one for not making wedding cake for a gay couple. We should be able to decline what we don't see inline with our faith.

Christians can have tolerance but not forced to do what is considered evil according to the bible.
Christianity Etc › Re: When a government is becoming ungodly: should Christians continue to obey? by tosinjay(m): 6:08pm On Jun 26, 2016
Couldn't have said it better, We obey when it aligns with the word of God but disobey when it contradicts.
