Am a Youth and a Youth leader in my district, it would shock you to know that 90% of the youth in the church are not ok with the way and manner marriages are carried out in the church and this over the years have led to mass exodus of highly gifted youths from the church! Its more like a Bondage, Yes and i forsee more coming if the church dosnt look into it! I see inconsistency in these Rules and Regulations,

I feel it's guys that are close to the pastor that decide to tell him first. Because i don't see any reason telling the pastor that you are interested in a sister.
In my church, after you propose, u register for marriage counselling. That is where they get to know the couple and counsel them.
The only reason the pastor can kick against it at that point is if the man does not have a job or he feels they do not know each other well enough. In that case, they can postpone.
