Na starting we get but bad finishing, In next 10 years, this institute will be nowhere to be found. Nigeria my country undecided
Why so negative? Sometimes, one can't help but think Nigerians WANT their country to fail. Haba!

It's really so Pathetic, as in dat one on travel section banned me till 2033 grin grin grin cheesy grin

The funniest thing s Alot if nairalanders complain about him both online and offline.. Yet seun doesn't gives a fling about it... I think I would start agreeing to the fact that Nairaland is now just about the money, if not check the kind of post you find on the front pages huh
2033?!!! shocked shocked
Power corrupts, absolute power (with no checks) corrupts absolutely.

I don't visit the travel section but I have seen so many complaints on random threads about the mod there.
Frontpage has become a joke these days.

I already corrected that idealistic assertion. The government is made up of the elites. Simple.
You can prove your assertion by naming one of those people in govt presently who has not been in our political sphere since 1999 and even before.
Oh, I forgot - the elites are not Nigerians, they are aliens from Mars.
PoliticsRe: Electricity Tariff Hike: See Huge Difference In 6 Months (photo) by tot(f): 12:00pm On Jan 28, 2021
Agboriotejoye:
Well your statement is a political one. What you're saying in other words is "change starts with the people and not the government". A propaganda by those in govt and their supporters to shift responsibility for a better society from the govt to the people. It's a cheap fallacy and a tacit admission of failure if you ask me
Because the government is made up of the people. Simple.
PoliticsRe: Electricity Tariff Hike: See Huge Difference In 6 Months (photo) by tot(f): 11:45am On Jan 28, 2021
Agboriotejoye:
What does their supporters have to do with anything at all? Is there anyway for any average Nigerian to aspire for a political office? Don't forget you can't run for office in Nigeria without a political party. For a political party to be registered they must have offices in 24 states of the federation including the FCT. Do you know the cost of all that? So what choice does the supporter have than to support those who come out from that system that he feels can give him the best returns?
Look at Buhari for example. Even though he hypocritically dresses himself as not being part of the Nigerian elite, he had to gang up with them before he could access the office he had interest in.
Corruption does not need ur approval to continue. It will continue as long as the elite want it so. Sey Buhari came in on anti-corruption song. What has he been able to do about it. Has he not tactically shifted ground and joined them?
There is always a choice.
Anyway, I am not here to debate political issues. The bottomline is simply that as long as Nigerians support wrong doings on a daily basis, they should not expect those at the top to be magically different.

We're following the foot steps of those on top. We'll continue to do so until we see changes in them. It's the leaders that should set the examples for followers. We'll continue to device means to survive their wickedness. Pretenders like you are worse off when they get to power.
Continue to follow each other's examples and the situation will continue. It's very simple, there is no rocket science there.
TravelRe: FG To Receive 802 Nigerian Returnees From Saudi Arabia by tot(f): 11:18am On Jan 28, 2021
Nigeria has its issues, but to run to a country like Saudi or choose to become an illegal immigrant is simply jumping into fire.
PoliticsRe: Electricity Tariff Hike: See Huge Difference In 6 Months (photo) by tot(f): 11:14am On Jan 28, 2021
Agboriotejoye:
The government comes from the elite especially from this part of the world. Nigeria is one of the countries in the world with the highest inequality. Apart from that, the prohibitive cost of our elections ensures that only the richest of the richest can foot the bill for public offices.
As for the bypassing, I hope you're aware that by the laws guiding the Discos, the tariff increases are actually illegal. But we can't do anything about it because of the inequality I just spoke about.
MLK said once, that an unjust law is no law at all. How much more a wrongly applied law. So, if the increment is illegal, then it bears logic that bypassing to not pay the illegality itself is not out of the blue at all.
Those elites have supporters, don't they? Are the supporters elites as well? No.

Okay, so let's all remain in the illegality and continue like that. Simple. Let corruption continue. No complaining.
PoliticsRe: What Did Igbos Do To Buhari? - Reno Omokri Asks by tot(f): 10:23am On Jan 28, 2021
DSoj:
Stupid question.
Did Igbos vote Buhari?
Have Igbos not been on Buhari's neck for the past 6yrs?

U dont eat where u didnt cook.

QED
What kind of rationale is this? Is a president supposed to act only for those that voted for him? This kind of vindictiveness and pettiness in African politics is the reason the whole continent is where it is. What a shameful comment.

You see why you are stupid...so the whole nigerians that complained of 200% increase in electricity bills all bypassed meter. You are either a APC zombie or purely foolish...im sure stupid ppl like you supported the govt over endSars cus you think every Nigerian youth being brutalized by Sars are all guilty...keep showing your foolishness. I only pity ppl around you. They have to wake up everyday to bear your stupid character

You should preach to the people in govt first before facing those who are bearing the brunt of their mismanagement. Go and check the 1st page of this thread and see how many Nigerians are out of business due to overhead costs. Same govt is now sharing 5k to same people they impoverished. Go to NL front page and see the latest ranking of govt on corruption by same govt that took power on anti-corruption
Where did the government come from? Are they aliens? You all want to support wrong things in day to day lives but expect integrity from those same wrongdoers when they get into govt, how exactly? My comment was directed to the guy who talked about bypassing meter, if you are in support of that, please DO NOT complain about corruption anywhere whether in govt or a company or anywhere else.

You said the truth. Nigerians dont comply eith rules i agree with you...but where you became stupid is derailing. Are your bills not increasing more than necessary or you still want to prove you are still stupid. Unless you arent not paying your bills yourself to notice the irrational hike in electricity bills, then keep being stupid ma cheesy
Logical reasoning is so hard for many of you. Continue bypassing meter and complaining about govt corruption. Foolish folks all over the place.

Oga, if you walk into a well arranged house, the first thing that come to mind is to comport yourself. Nigerians ve endured untold hardship and ve given their all but our useless leaders ve frustrated every effort made and ensured that Nigerians remain in pain and poverty. We lack everything even basics. The people re becoming weary and that's why crime is on the rise. Government must do right by the people
You clearly do not get my point. As long as we continue to encourage the wrong things in our day to day lives, we should not complain about corruption in government.
The government you are referring to are not aliens, they are the same Nigerians like you and me.

Tot please shutup and dont derail...the thread is about the sudden hike in electricity bills and not how foolish Nigerians litter the roads and break traffic rules. Are you not feeling the hardship of the hike in bills or dont you pay bills?? undecided
Don't burst a vein, the truth is bitter. If you all like, continue bypassing meter and shouting corruption at the same time. Foolishness of the highest order.

You are funny, you thought banning till 2022 or a week is too long... The mod on travel section banned me till 2033 cos I offered an advice...

Anyway I just lock up from the travel section, after all I'm not getting paid for it, I'm just doing mine voluntarily... If you want to get banned on Nairaland just oppose any advice from the mod and voila you're banned angry

Imagine the mods here on Nairaland becoming our politicians huh
That's why I laugh when I see people criticizing those in govt, most would do far worse in the same positions. The whole Nigerian society needs a reset.

They don't treat their citizens abroad like we're treated here. If the government becomes so wicked the citizens will come up with ways to survive their wickedness. That's what is going on now. Stop comparing apples with mangoes.
gratiaeo:
Let corrupt free start from those in the government
Agboriotejoye:
You should blame the pharaohnic govt instead
slowice:
My friend keep quiet..... Tell me one thing that is progressive about this country. Aren't you seeing the hardship and frustration that citizen are enduring with no hope in sight? Is that how progressive nation became progressive? Will everyone die for naija to be progressive? How can a nigerian pay as much electricity tarrif as a Canadian while earning less than 5% of what a Canadian earns a month. Useless progressive.
There is no difference between you all and the supposed 'people in government' that you are criticizing. That is just the bitter truth. Nigerians want a better society but at the same time they break traffic laws, litter the environment, sort in school, bypass meter etc. Those 'in govt' did not drop from the sky - they are a reflection of the society, so as you are pointing the finger, remember the remaining 4 are pointing right back at you.

These are the same people that want Nigeria to be corruption free and progressive like 'abroad'. The irony.

Genevieve to Funke? Never heard of that. The two who were being constantly compared were Genevieve and Omotola. In any case, each of these ladies have their own niche and talents, it is not necessary to pit one against the other. The sky is wide enough.

It's mutual. The hatred they have for him is alarming as well. They call him lifeless vegetable, the dead one, Jubril, call the country a zoo, and then are surprised when nothing changes.
