CrimeRe: Police Break The Head Of Arise TV Cameraman, Hours After The End Of SARS by tot(f): 9:15pm On Oct 11, 2020
omohayek:
The only long-term solution for the mess that is "policing" in Nigeria is public accountability. Nigeria is simply too big, too populous and too ethnically-diverse for the sort of centralised nonsense that has been termed "policing" since colonial days. The primary unit of organisation for police forces should be at the lowest level possible (in other words, the LGA, and not at the state level), with chiefs of police (or sheriffs) being directly accountable to the residents they watch over, and completely independent of both the FG and the state governors. Ideally, this would also mean that the ordinary rank and file would be elected from locals (by which I mean people who actually live close to where they'll be working, not just "natives" who have never even stepped foot on the soil they call "home" because a parent or grandparent came from there).

This doesn't mean that police chiefs will now simply be elected officials, but that the body which decides whether any particular police officer is put in charge in an LGA must be staffed by local representatives who are themselves elected independently. It's one thing for a policeman posted from his native region to the opposite end of the country to demand bribes at gunpoint, knowing there's nothing any locals up to governor level can do about it, and something else for someone who has been your neighbour for several years, and whose children probably play with yours, to act the same way.

Of course, this being the sh*thole of a failed state that is Nigeria, none of the above will ever cross the minds of the dimwits who call the shots in Abuja.
I can see the benefits in this, but how would this work in highly polarized states, imagine what Southern Kaduna citizens for instance would have faced in such a scenario. Or Ife Modakeke crisis then..

Because in Zoo, in see animals behaving like animals. Our leader are rulling like tyrant and dictators. Rulling us like animals. We don't have power to say our mind because if you do, it will become hate speech.
Freedom of Speech, but no Freedom after Speech. Who have we offended? I can't even go into business, because when I look at my capital, it will look like money for buying packet of toothpick.
You shouldn't give up hope regardless of the situation. Being negative about things won't change it.

I and this my guy were very cool in secondary school we had each other's back but I leaned on him the most because I had low self esteem. We graduated from secondary and my esteem began to grow almost daily . I am no longer the person I used to be I now see my self as a better person . During this lockdown I started making friends, freeing myself from worries and generally trying to be happy . My esteem grew drastically. But just as exam started drawing near and I started reading with this my friend and one other guy . This my particular friend has been trying to put me down . He'll praise himself but put us down . He's always trying to discredit me , talk down on me or talk about my receeding hairline or something. Because of all these things I stopped sharing my sexcapades with him ,I stopped telling him my motives or plans . I either show result or ..... . I've started keeping small small distance because I've noticed all the negative things he's saying are affecting my confidence.

Even before the lockdown it affected badly because we were always hanging out .
You are very self aware and that's half of the battle already won. But please increase that distance from small small to very wide if you can't cut him off completely. You have a bright future ahead of you, don't let one star killer pull you down.

Paid agents my as$, many of you just to comment like you dropped from the Mars. Who is paying who? You have your opinions on issues and others have theirs too. But typical Nigerian like you always believe that your opinion is superior and would want others to keep quiet thereby resorting to blackmail.

And you, the hate and venom in you may eventually consume you. People like you only think of today but not tomorrow. When armed robbers and kidnappers start to frustrate your life, you will begin to shout and wail again. Forgetting that you were the one who demanded for the head to be cut because of headache instead of taking panadol. Mtcheeew!!!

If you are not illiterate or educated illiterate you will not even imaging not to talk of uttered it out that, ssce holders should stay behind in stations and BSC to go to highway.

I think you should mention just one country in entire world where they practice such foolish idea from stupid person.

You guys should read what you type before you post it pls.
It's a simple question based on YOUR comment.

Why should ssce holders be recruited in the first place not to talk of debating whether they are at the station or the highways?

You are the one that should learn to read before responding to comments.

Nigeria is a zoo, am sure you believe this. Now ask yourself, can NPF be reformed?
Do you think they can stop collecting 50 from motorist? Do you believe APC and PDP can be reformed?
Believe this at your own risk. Me I no dey ooo. IGP just dey buy time. He has alot of things to do. He is fighting with PCS, he is recruiting new constables, he is training those community policies. Until we demand for GOOD GOVERNANCE, Nigeria still remain a Zoo.
So, you decided to change the tune.
Kindly speak for yourself on what you believe.
If it's a zoo, I guess that makes you an animal then.

And those Police Officers under SARS unit will be deployed to where. A unique unit loading.........or do you think they sack those officers under the unit?
It is a starting point. If you have a full on solution, state it rather than trying to water down the efforts of those who spoke out for this.
