Gerrard59: You're right but expecting those technologies to be readily available in places with increasing population does not add up. Nigeria would be more populated than Japan, France and Germany combined in less than twenty years, is it hydrogen or electric vehicles that would be on her roads? The way Asian countries notably China and India contributed to oil's importance will happen by African countries. They ARE already available in the places that matter. Shell for example is already selling SAF and these airlines they sell to fly globally so the population of the destination doesn't matter. The UK will be phasing put petrol cars in the next few years. Things are picking up pace very quickly and oil producing countries like Nigeria will soon find out they are left holding the bag. |

Gerrard59: The mistake you made is implying that crude oil is only used for transportation purposes without mentioning everyday items, petrochemicals, agriculture, textiles etc. Don't forget that the vast majority of developing countries esp those with huge populations haven't attained scientific knowledge to use renewables. Crude oil will still be in demand.
@Topic: Bye bye to major recruitment programs by oil majors. Transportation is the biggest proportion so the guy you quoted is right as several alternatives are already being developed, hydrogen, sustainable aviation fuel, electric vehicles etc |

Ajibel: Ma'am, that's true. But we know it was during Ambode's tenure that the project greatly slowed down for only God knows why. It was a project he could have easily completed, but now Ambode is no longer on seat, Sanwo is. So let's see if Sanwoolu's promise of 2022 will still hold Very much doubt it but let's see. |

We can't make it functional you know, if it's not yet completed. Taaah, that's the same story we've been hearing for years. Haha! Completion date keeps shifting, it's not fair to the people at all. |
Politics › Re: Sanwo-Olu: Lagos Is Ready To Deliver 4th Mainland Bridge by tot(f): 8:25am On Sep 30, 2020 |
wirinet: The problem is not even building the roads and bridges, the problem is maintenance. Roads and bridges are very expensive to maintain, and you know we are not blessed in terms of maintenance culture. The federal government spends billions every 5 or so years maintaining the 3rd mainland bridge. Most of Lagos roads and bridges are crying for repairs and you are talking about spending billions of dollars building more roads and bridges.
Railway lines are the least expensive road infrastructure to maintain. They are also the most EFFICIENT. You can transport several people at once, less pollution to the environment, less wear and tear on roads, so many benefits but no, Nigerian leaders are being short sighted and visionless as usual. |

Politics › Re: 800 Houses To Go As Lagos Proposes $2.2 Billon For 4th Mainland Bridge by tot(f): 8:17am On Sep 30, 2020 |
Ajibel: Lagos state has about six rail line projects in the pipeline. The first two, blue and red line will hopefully come on stream by 2022 The point is they are not functional and people are spending hours of their lives each day in traffic. People waking up 4am just to get to work. It's a shame on these leaders. |

Why not focus on developing rail? A megacity without a well connected rail system in 2020 is not it. What exactly is wrong with African leaders? |

Ajibel: Not up to this Aketi's own. Just so you know, I was supporting Obaseki but when I realised he didn't have so much to promote on terms of achievements, I felt disappointed.
Or maybe he has because I don't live in Edo, but his social media handlers and fans preferred using the Edo no be lagos and end godfatherism trends to campaign for him.
I don't like when I support someone and when I'm asked to defend him, I don't have much to show except being sentimental to his cause. Okay, I get where you're coming from now. I believe those who live in Edo must have had good reason to vote for him besides the godfatherism issue considering the gap. Personally, watching that debate start to finish was the eye opener, the alternative (Ize-iyamu) was a FAR WORSE alternative. |
Politics › Re: Governor Akeredolu's Projects And Achievements In Ondo State (photos) by tot(f): 7:17pm On Sep 29, 2020 |
Ajibel: It's the sentiments that got Obaseki reelected that is my point of concern.
I'll prefer a government whether in PDP or APC to be elected based on the strength of their performance than on sentiments. Well, I recall a number of threads showcasing his achievements. With the level of hardship in Nigeria, sentiments alone can't get anyone far. |
Politics › Re: Governor Akeredolu's Projects And Achievements In Ondo State (photos) by tot(f): 6:56pm On Sep 29, 2020 |
Ajibel: This is the kind of thread I expected Obaseki supporters to have created but they kept shouting Edo no be Lagos.
The OP don finish work for Aketi with this thread. All the best to him in the coming election And Obaseki still won, so what's your point? As for this thread, it really doesn't matter because those on ground whose lives are being impacted by his governance will make their choice. |
