They ARE already available in the places that matter. Shell for example is already selling SAF and these airlines they sell to fly globally so the population of the destination doesn't matter. The UK will be phasing put petrol cars in the next few years. Things are picking up pace very quickly and oil producing countries like Nigeria will soon find out they are left holding the bag.

The mistake you made is implying that crude oil is only used for transportation purposes without mentioning everyday items, petrochemicals, agriculture, textiles etc. Don't forget that the vast majority of developing countries esp those with huge populations haven't attained scientific knowledge to use renewables. Crude oil will still be in demand.

Transportation is the biggest proportion so the guy you quoted is right as several alternatives are already being developed, hydrogen, sustainable aviation fuel, electric vehicles etc

The problem is not even building the roads and bridges, the problem is maintenance. Roads and bridges are very expensive to maintain, and you know we are not blessed in terms of maintenance culture. The federal government spends billions every 5 or so years maintaining the 3rd mainland bridge. Most of Lagos roads and bridges are crying for repairs and you are talking about spending billions of dollars building more roads and bridges.

Railway lines are the least expensive road infrastructure to maintain.

They are also the most EFFICIENT. You can transport several people at once, less pollution to the environment, less wear and tear on roads, so many benefits but no, Nigerian leaders are being short sighted and visionless as usual.

A lack of vision is an issue with so many of these Nigerians leaders.
