We must distinguish between speaking in tongues and the cacophony of noises we hear every day in the name of praying. I believe one can hear God in the quietness of their heart and not in the discordant sounds everywhere. Even our Lord when HE prayed HE separated Himself from the crowd and went to quiet place.
