And that is one of the main challenges of tourism. Tourism cannot thrive when there is insecurity in the tourist destination or regional area. As a matter of fact, the OP, has done us a big favour by not mentioning he was ever attacked by either kidnappers, armed robbers, ritualists or alike at any point in time. If he had mentioned such, that automatically would just kill the willingness of 99% of those planning/hoping to visit any of the two states. Why Dubai is what it is is because so many things have been put in place with infrastructure and security topping government priority. Well, we all know opposite is the case in Nigeria. That alone kills tourism sector in the country. Quite unfortunate!

Cross River oil wells was given to akwa ibom. Akwa ibom now receives 6 times Cross river's allocation. The current Cross River Governor is out of touch and lacks passion to develop Calabar because he's not from Calabar, he's from the northern border town close to Obudu .
Based on the images and videos I've seen so far I think Calabar is not that bad. I think there's lack of maintenance. Like I said,the government needs to ban child labor and street hawking and also stop painting the sides of roads black &White. Those things really make the place look hideous. The government needs to deport thousands of Akwa ibom people because most of the kidnappers prostitutes and armed robbers in Calabar are from Akwa ibom.

And tomorrow we'll blame Buhari for operating government of the north or as you rightly pointed out, blame Ayade for not developing the Efik region of Cross River state? With your comment above, you have no moral standing blaming any government official for operating a sectional government. SMH.

During non-festival period in Calabar/Uyo, standard hotel rooms could go as low as 6k/night. However, during festive period, standard rooms go as high as 15-18k. This is also applicable to the class of hotel. A no-star hotel cannot be same rate with a 3 or 5-star hotel.
