mide2008,
I'm glad to hear that NILESAT can come on mesh.My installer told me it wouldnt come out except on fibre, minimum of 3.0m.But i am happy to hear the good news.Mind you,I am not into installations but information hunting. So,dont make it look like the confusion was deliberate.
all,
pls help me out.I have been trying to get nss7 ku on my 2.4 meshdish with both the c and ku lnb installed but it is not coming out.The installer got the signal with my Strong non X series but it refused to come out when I changed to the 4653X series.Could it be the change in receiver or disruption in dish alignment? The installer doesnt want to come back from Ilorin but my installer in Abeokuta couldnt get it though he promised to get back on Saturday. He is even a visitor to this forum. What could be the problem?I have introduced this forum to so many satellite professionals and enthusiasts. No news yet on free2view!
How much is the Strong Xseries in Alaba and Oshodi?

enitan,
NILESAT can only be picked on fibre and not wiremesh.I never mentioned wiremesh.I would love to talk to you at midnite though it's beginning to sound like we are having a wizard/witches midnite deliberation ha,ha,ha!
butoneday,
the signals vary especially with the dish size and location.the good stations there like foxmovies which I am really savouring go as high as 60 with the strong x series but 45 with the other receiver.
thanks alot to all those who called me to make enquiries especially Ola who spoke with me for over 2hours at about 3am today.I also want to implore all of us to forget about our egos when on this forum or calling or being called.Dont be surprised that you could be contacting a governor or senator on this forum without you knowing.please your humility will take us a long way.
No news on free2view from me yet.foxmovies is the hottest thing on nilesat.it started May 1.pls check it out.
for all all you in southwest Nigeria, pls join me every saturday night 11.03 to 2am on a radio show,Party time on paramount fm 94.5.it has been touching so many lives.I am also on Ltv every Tuesday and Friday night 7,8,10pm news.GTV Newstrip Sundays 8.30pm.Best wishes.

pitodenz,
a lot of people make the mistake of thinking Nilesat can only be picked in the North of Nigeria because of the Middle East beam. But would you believe I pick almost 300 fta channels including MBC1-4 (showing movies, news, grammy, oscar awards),AL JAZEERA,MTV ARABIA,FOX MOVIES,DUBAI SPORTS1-3,ZEE ARABIYA,SPACETOON1-2,JAZEERA SPORTS1-2,BBC,etc all in Abeokuta,Ogun state with a 3.0metre fibre dish and ku lnb.You need to experience it and you will love it on the condition you have space for it.
all,
free2view should be be given a chance.I just tuned to w3a on Monday. It's worth the stress.I struggled before i could pick it.
I visited Vickoy and his wonderful family today. We even had a ride together in my car.this forum is worth the while.I am looking forward to meeting everybody especially enitan, badaru, pitodenz, twinstaye, ola, enigma, mercussey, etc.
But please beware of people like Iretunde and some installers on this site. They are all out to make some money from us.Everybody including me complained about Iretunde's arrogance and inexperience. His attitude initially discouraged me from joining the forum some months back.I think he should back off.or what do you think?
Though I am always very busy in Lagos and Abeokuta, you are all welcome to my home anytime you are in Abeokuta on a weekend, to see what I watch(over 500 fta stations on 3 dishes,4 lnbs,20 satellite locations).

I am also a guru or guguru in both C and ku band satellite especially Nilesat.I have good news about ftas.Very soon,pay-tv will be useless.check all this:

[i]Rotana brings Fox Movies to Middle East
Fox Movies, a free-to-air English movie channel, will be launched in the region by a partnership between Fox International Channels (FIC) and Rotana Media Services (RMS).Nilesat 101 (7.0W) - 11766.00 (H) DVB-S - 27500 3/4 - NID:2048 - TID:5
"This is the first free-to-air branded Hollywood movie channel in the Middle East," said Ward Platt, president of FIC.
Starting Thursday, the channel will be targeted at the Arab population. Fillers between movies will be tailored to the local niche market and movies will have Arabic subtitles.
The first movie to be aired will be Blade Runner - The Final Cut, starring Harrison Ford. This movie will be aired for the first time in the region. All movies aired will be uninterrupted by advertisements or other breaks. On viewership, Platt said it is almost impossible to measure. "There are over 35 million homes receiving free-to-air television in the region," he said.
Adding that, anyone with a receiver and a dish can watch the channel.
The decision is adds more pressue to pay-TV broadcasting in the region. ART, Orbit and Showtime are still trying to gain a meaningful income out of pay-TV. This has become especially challenging with upwards of 250 free channels now broadcasting, and plenty of them providing quality programming.
News Corp will launch two 24-hour free-to-air channels, one covering movies, the other showing US imports. Fox Movies will launch first, in May, while the second channel will air in the autumn, probably around November.

The decision is another nail in the coffin of pay-TV broadcasting in the region. ART, Orbit and Showtime are still trying to gain a meaningful income out of pay-TV, especially challenging when there are upwards of 250 free channels now broadcasting, and plenty of them beaming out quality programming.

Orbit, Arab Radio & Television (ART) and Viacom-backed Showtime Arabia have been selling pay-TV subs since 1994 and none of the players has managed to break through into mass-market propositions, or significant profitability.

You can also watch MTV free on Nilesat

2.Free2View, a UK-based free-to-air digital satellite operator, broadcasts across Africa free of charge from France and is available through a digital decoder and a dish.

It plans to launch new six channels by end of April and aims to have up to 36 channels. In Africa it offers 24-hour news, an entertainment channel and MSNBC.The new stations are MOVIES 24/7,PLANET EARTH,BOOGALOOS TV,X LEAGUE,GOD TV,and KIDS TV.
Please tell the company the stations you want to watch by mailing Malcolm Ramsay, Free2View chief technical officer through  malcolm@free2view.co.za or ej@free2view.co.za.Currently MSNBC Africa is on what is probably Africa's most powerful and biggest KU band satellite footprint, Eutelsat W3A at 7degrees East.

“This will ensure that viewers from SA, Botswana, Mozambique, Namibia, Lesotho, Angola, Zimbabwe, Swaziland, Kenya, Tanzania, Madagascar, Congo, Gabon, DRC, Malawi,Nigeria and Uganda will be able to have the opportunity to view America's fastest news channel,” Ramsay said.

Free2view, as the name implies, is southern Africa's only free-to-air satellite TV platform and aims to provide broadcasters and rights holders with a stable, advertising funded platform to deliver their content to the millions in the region who had been previously excluded from these content global streams.
Free2View's satellite footprint stretches across sub-Saharan Africa.Thanks.
