Satellite TV Technology / Re: Official Thread of Free To Air Satellite TV (Part 2) by toxnaija: 9:12pm On Feb 27, 2009
all,
pls let's discuss the panorama booster fta on the google group here too.I want us to experiment in the Lagos area as someone confirmed it worked in Ibadan.I am excited about it.Butoneday should pls give us details of how it works including pix of the whole set-up.I wouldnt mind to have it in my Lagos home as I dont have any satellite set-up here except the redundant Discomm cable which stopped working some months ago when they went digital.

olofofo,
dont mind Engineer Ashawo. The dish was not motorised when I visited the estate some days ago.I dont know if it is MFP.I will find out next Tuesday.Or better still call my friend.I will text her number to u.As my new in-law,tell him to steer clear of my territory. When I am I meeting the salts of the earth/ododo-flowers at your backyard?

ola,
you no even get liver.u dey fear madam over Oshodi salesgirl issue. Please tell Enitan to call me.I cant get him on fone.Has he been kidnapped?
Satellite TV Technology / Re: Official Thread of Free To Air Satellite TV (Part 2) by toxnaija: 3:46pm On Feb 26, 2009
olofofo,
my friend has promised to seal up the deal by Monday evening. On the fast brewing football controversy,I think we cant do without linking it with fta but if those who love documentaries, movies, etc decide to post pix and all sorts on this thread,it will be turned into a mess.I advise we stick to fta.I think I will mobilise fish-lovers on this thread to start their own too-Engineer A.Enitan, ola, and other fish lickers should dtart posting fish pix.Is it not part of fta too?at least there are so many fishes on Hotbird.

George-D,
Thanks for the call.I am still waiting.Where is Butoneday?I dey miss am.

Adewest,
How una dey?any developments?

microgiant,
thanks for all the wonderful posts especially Globecast plan.Keep it up.I like your paradoxical username.I wouldnt mind to hear from u.Pls be on the look out for more details from Globecast.I cant wait to hook up to them.

badaru1,
I am still waiting for ur reply on when to come with my Echolink next week.I will return to Lagos for the week on Tuesday evening, and back to Abeokuta on Saturday morning. How far with AB2 tracking? It came out at night on my 3m fibre excluding Kabelkiosk.
Satellite TV Technology / Re: Official Thread of Free To Air Satellite TV (Part 2) by toxnaija: 12:53pm On Feb 25, 2009
olofofo/twinstaiye,
thanks for doing justice to that crap.I wish Enitan handled him.I hope you are all enjoying Champions league?

Enigma,
I discovered CRTV to be Ghanaian.I still insist they are on 28*East with Sky,Community channel,ITV Quad, etc.I ran several tracking tests on the bird and Eurobird2,and found out that it was not straying.CRTV was off as at yesterday afternoon.

George-D/Butoneday,
I hail una.pls take care of Mr.Gem for us next week.
Satellite TV Technology / Re: Official Thread of Free To Air Satellite TV (Part 2) by toxnaija: 9:52pm On Feb 24, 2009
badaru1,
thanks.I wish I saw ur post before I left Abeokuta this evening.I am back in Lagos.I will bring it next Tuesday.when will you be available during the week?you didnt even give me a feedback on the Atlantic bird2 tracking.I called you but u seemed not to be near ur fone.I am looking forward to meeting you.

bodejohn,
can you pls post the frequency you used in picking tv3 Ghana?tv Malawi that caused katakata btwn u and Engineer Ashawo is picked easily in Abeokuta with a 3m fibre though it is on southern african beam.thanks for the reply.

baba egun,
i mentioned it in my penultimate post that the usb-serial port didnt work even after following ur expert advice.olofofo, adewest, and mide complained about it too.how come you and ifende got it right?

ola,
thanks.remember the Yoruba adage-aguntan to ba ba aja rin,a je igbe-the sheep that chooses a dog as a friend will chop shit dole dole.Ola and Oshodi salesgirls-the Enitan connection-the title of my new soap opera showing daily on ShowCinema1.

olofofo,
the feedback will be yours tomorrow evening.my friend just got back to town this evening from a biz trip.she has been briefed.

all,
Korean satellite launch suffers setback this morning.I just read the story on the tv news.
Satellite TV Technology / Re: Official Thread of Free To Air Satellite TV (Part 2) by toxnaija: 10:30am On Feb 24, 2009
all,
no answer to my inability to open ART on Echolink for almost one month.what could be wrong?I have tried leaving it on ART sports for hours, still no change.badaru,olofofo,adewest,mide2008,twinstaiye,baba egun, ola, pls reply asap or else na ur own I go come thief.
where is Enitan?he never recover from val hangover?
Is anybody still picking TV3 Ghana on NSS7 C-BAND?It has been off for some weeks while TV AFRICA is still very high at 97%

George,
thanks.I am not sure i got it though i opened one of the folders.I still dont understand how it works for the satellite, maybe a tutorial will help for everybody.

olofofo,
I have called my friend on ur behalf for the 4m fibre dish but my fear is that I wouldnt want a situation where you would back out because of unexpected expenses from other sources.my friend is too blunt for excuses.besides, the owner is her neighbour so she wouldnt want any embarrassment from him.you start negotiations today, you pick it up the following day.I will get a definite schedule and price from her this evening.
Satellite TV Technology / Re: Official Thread of Free To Air Satellite TV (Part 2) by toxnaija: 11:03pm On Feb 22, 2009
all,
I still couldnt get the usb-serial port to work for my transfers even after following Ifende/baba egun's expert advice. The same problem I am having with my ART on echolink. It has been off since the last three software updates.what could be wrong as the other packages come up immediately my receiver comes on?any suggestions.
Lagos Nilesat enthusiasts,
I saw a very good and old 4m fibre dish lying fallow at LSDPC Estate,Ogba/Pen Cinema area.my friend is a neighbour to the owner. She promised to negotiate with the owner as soon as there is a serious and ready buyer.the ball is in ur court.

George,
I have downloaded the satfinder but I have been trying to get u on the 0807 fone for installation guide as I couldnt do it properly.Pls holla me when you get back from ur hibernation.

Adewest,
no comment please.lost two wonderful friends in 4days.one died Thursday, the other 12.30am today at OSUTH Sagamu, buried 4pm in Ago-Iwoye.I am too heartbroken/devastated for that remark.
Satellite TV Technology / Re: Official Thread of Free To Air Satellite TV (Part 2) by toxnaija: 6:47pm On Feb 20, 2009
pitodenz,
pls forward the internet stuff to me as soon as you get out of the jungle thru toxnaija@gmail.com. on the cable you want to run from PH to Abeokuta, you will need 1000 rolls.
Hotbird 9 is moving to 13*East soon with better signals after successfully undergoing a test by Eutelsat. Many Italian fta stations are starting on hotbird in June.
check this strong tps to track hotbird-10723 H 29900,11919 v 27500.
what is happening to abracadabra software coming up almost every three days?pls pray ooo.
Is jsc+ patch still on?

George,
Ihave sent my other mail addresses for the stuff.Have a great weekend. Thanks, just got the stuff.

Ifende/baba-egun/Mr.Gem,
I will try it out when I get to Abeokuta tomorrow.I hope it works.I use the Bafo usb -serial port which I pasted on the thread.thanks for the rescue.I will give u a feedback asap.

folo28,
howdy?I hope there is an improvement on ur set up.Adewest and I concluded that ur fibre dish is actually not 3m after scrutinising my own very well. Both of us got convinced while working extensively in Abeokuta that the moulder must have swindled you to buy a 2.8m.my 3m is sort of bigger than yours,it would have picked Showsports if the dimension was right.Get in touch with Adewest and badaru for professional advice.Hotbird and Orbit will do very well on it so talk to them for motorising.I remember a member mentioned the same thing about his experience a few days ago on dish size.
Satellite TV Technology / Re: Official Thread of Free To Air Satellite TV (Part 2) by toxnaija: 9:43am On Feb 19, 2009
Enitan,
na now i finally believe u don spoil patapata.wetin u dey look for in scraps.so u don turn Ola into ashawo like u wey dey go Oshodi for salesgirls.anyway, welcome to the exciting world of Nilesat.what's ur opinion on the Ijebu juju on Showsports in ur voodoo hometown experienced by Adewest?i still cant believe 2.4m dish picked it there.Obnelly has some tasks up his sleeves in Shagamu.when you recharge ur phone and blood, pls holla me as i get plenty gist for you over ur speciality.Happy birthday in advance.but you are the opposite of baba Awo.Papa no dey run after skirts in Ikenne those days,na only HID hin dey pummel then.I no dey there sha ooo.

Enigma,
I agree with you that there could be a spill from Eurobird2 but the reception was too strong for a spill-over.I will investigate thru the satellite charts.when are you coming to town?i want to see u before i leave in July.

all,
where are you-badaru1,arsene,onye-ngbu,bigg joe, vickoy, etc. If you are interested in live basketball, music and the highly educative Weakest Link, then hook up to Orbit where you can pick NBA TV,TRACE,and BBC PRIME,etc. In the Lagos area, you will need a minimum of 3m dish.Sincerely, this fta thing has scattered my system as there is hardly any station I cant watch in my living room except NTA Ijebu and NTA Iyana Ipaja.I now understand why Olofofo went mad yesternight while watching Man U.that Scholes' shot was a thunderbolt, reminiscent of what he did to Enyeama when Super Eagles faced England in 2002 World Cup.

Baba Egun/Mr.Gem,
why cant USB-RS232 cable work?Is there any way round it?I am tired of taking my Echolink to the office anytime I want to update it.Pls reply asap.
Satellite TV Technology / Re: Official Thread of Free To Air Satellite TV (Part 2) by toxnaija: 9:24pm On Feb 18, 2009
Enigma,
I dont know what to say on the CRTV but I am quite sure both Adewest and I couldnt have been confused. We picked it on Astra/Eurobird1 where we got ITV Quad with four screen boxes,SKY NEWS,Community Channel,SKY Perk promo,etc.Even,Mide2008 in Ilesha picked it with a signal strength of 52% on 2.4m mesh yesterday.I have just checked lyngsat.com and found the other stations except the new CRTV.I believe it has not been updated. We also picked some SKY Italia stations such as SKY INSIDE on Hotbird.

Obnelly,
I thought of u when the Ijebu showsports juju was revealed.i think with proper allignment,ur showsports will spring out in Sagamu if it was really picked in Ijebu-Ode.I still doubt it anyway.Pls talk to Adewest. He is likely to get back to ur axis soon.

George-D,
thanks for the call this morning.

Fasone,
howdy?regards to the family.
Satellite TV Technology / Re: Official Thread of Free To Air Satellite TV (Part 2) by toxnaija: 6:21pm On Feb 17, 2009
olofofo,
I am really surprised and disturbed that you have forgotten fasone so soon.that means i could be given the same treatment if i disappear on the thread for a few weeks.haba! Fasone is a honorary and wonderful member with some educating posts,in fact,we spoke some weeks back.he called me and gisted for some minutes.please make amends on that embarassment.I couldnt download the software,it seems I wasnt registered properly or what could be wrong?

Enitan,
where are you at? I hope Chioma no break ur back on Saturday! my zain's gprs servers in Lagos and Abeokuta seem not to be active.what is wrong?please holla me.I hope  Karib will not bite you ooo.I was about to send my post when your post and Karib's came in.welcome.Thank God you survived Chioma's assault.

all,
Adewest and I arrived Lagos from Abeokuta a few hours ago after I hijacked him for about 22hours when he came on an installation trip to Ijebu-ode,Ogun state(Enitan's hometown). He told me he was able to pick Nilesat easily there on 1.8m,even Showsports on 2.4m.I find it hard to believe but the Ijebus are renowned for their juju.Dem fit draw the signal down to their towns.I no trust them.Back to my project,we motorised my 3m fibre in Abeokuta. All the hitherto weak signals on 2.4m pan jumped in easily on 3m fibre-all Orbit packages on Eurobird2,85%Hotbird packages,Atlantic Bird2(AB2) Orbit and Astra/Eurobird1 are now very stable.we couldnt pick Kabelkiosk on AB2.we couldnt sleep until 2am because we had to wait for some very tough tps on AB2 and Hotbird.the greatest discovery is this new station called CRTV crown royal tv promising news, movies, sports and Christian stuffs on Astra 28East/Eurobird1 tp 12599 V 3250.the signal reaches 71% on Echolink and probably 90% on Strong X series.that means even 60cm dish will pick it here.the free porn stations were simply stupid, dont even bother yourself.if you want porn,it's better you buy from the stalls.we also picked SKY NEWS,ITV, Community Channel, etc,on the bird.Adewest did a fantastic job with the dish alignment which is the most important factor in getting the best signals.Infact if you have not installed a minimum of 2.4m dish, please dont brag on this forum.I bow for Adewest.please send all enquiries about frequencies and other technicalities to him.I was down with stomach upset in the last 3days but okay now.please understand. He has taken the pictures of the dishes for uploading to the thread.
I enjoyed jsc+1-4 all through the weekend inspite of my discomfort-FA CUP,SERIE A,LA LIGA,etc. It was too much.I pray it lasts for so long.ART Sport will be the new bride with the fast approaching European Champions League. My Showsports and CNN on Nilesat were 54% and 52% respectively when we were leaving for Lagos a few hours ago.56% and 54% yesternight.

F-Marshal,
I hope you understand my plight.I can add this important tp which I discussed above-CRTV crown royal tv promising news, movies, sports and Christian stuffs on Astra 28East/Eurobird1 tp 12599 V 3250.the signal reaches 71% on Echolink and probably 90% on Strong X series.
Satellite TV Technology / Re: Official Thread of Free To Air Satellite TV (Part 2) by toxnaija: 6:27pm On Feb 13, 2009
F_Marshal,
I enjoyed every bit of the Chaparral documentary.Anyway,it's my field.

Enitan,
the mouth that the snail used in abusing the gods, the same mouth it will use to beg them.Remember how you yabbed all of us who were propagating Nilesat then.I am looking forward to the day Nilesat signals will get to your living room.thanks to pitodenz for reminding us of your yabis then.welcome to the most exciting bird!I know say u no go gree yeye engineer ashawo.

all,
fta is a hobby.even if abracadabra support goes, let's enjoy it while it lasts. In fact,I am motorising my 3m fibre next week making me to spend almost 10k again inspite of the fact that I am broke.I want to bring to the notice of everybody that some of us have the habit of encouraging the buying of cards especially when you call them to ask about the availability of new softwares and patches.you know yourselves.this is an fta forum. It is not fair of you to tell other members to buy cards when patches and softwares are off.Moderator, please address this.

badaru1,
na wa oo.you didnt pick my calls and you never reported your findings on Atlantic bird2-Kabelkiosk/orbit.please holla me.

Graciousme,
pls go for the receiver.you can call twinstaiye and baba-egun for advice on starsat/echolink.Happy Valentine.I wish you were in Lagos for the weekend.I would have given you a big treat.regards.
Satellite TV Technology / Re: Official Thread of Free To Air Satellite TV (Part 2) by toxnaija: 10:41pm On Feb 07, 2009
all,
I have downloaded all new softwares.they are ok for now.

badaru1,
how far with atlantic bird 2 kabelkiosk and orbit?
Satellite TV Technology / Re: Official Thread of Free To Air Satellite TV (Part 2) by toxnaija: 12:20am On Feb 07, 2009
Enigma,
thanks for the education.I think this is the umpteenth time I would implore members not to turn all of us into a laughing stock for middle east and european satellite dxers.feed frequencies are always temporary.inspite of the fact that OSMI keeps it football feed on NSS703 C band jealously away from lyngsat,I revealed it here some months back yet they never changed it.the same with AIT on intel901 ,RTP Portuguese liga live feed on intel907, etv owns those feeds on sirius, yet they are still there.Enough of this ignorance please!

all,
I miss you all especially Onye-ngbu.George-D,thanks for the congratulatory call.I cant remember the last time I checked Sirius and other 90cm signals because of the almighty abracadabra.I wish Echolink could drop to N10000 for all us to be able to afford it.I also wish that Nilesat would drop their beam to Southern Nigeria for us to pick on 90cm or 1.8m because of space and cantakerous landlords.my neighbours and their children now rush back from office and school to watch movies, football and documentaries.I connected the houses nearby to Echolink.
my next project is the motorising of my 3m fibre to pick the weak signals of Kabelkiosk,Orbit,Astra, and Hotbird.I will do this as soon as Adewest comes back to Lagos.I heard 3m couldnt pick Showsports in Lagos,at Folo's place.I agree with this because even Abeokuta with a higher latitude experiences weak signals on CNN and Showsports TPs in the afternoons these days.let's wait for a weather change if you cant get 3.5/4m in Lagos.
Thank God Strong came back with jsc+ patch.I will load it Saturday when I get to Abeokuta.Pls dont fret about ART misbehaving on Echolink.I am deadsure they will come back with the upcoming software, besides, they are currently useless.
DSTV has bought GTV's premiership rights for the non-Nigerian market. They will find it hard to make money as subscribers cant use their old receivers for their signals.they must buy DSTV's decoder at subsidised rate and pay fresh subscription.I believe RDV will kill them if they should come up with Showsports.
If you have echolink in Lagos, dont worry urself about Showsports, just tune to Show Maghreb,Extreme Sports and Show Shasha for all the matches.the only snag is that you cant get the English commentary.Atimes,I move to these stations when Showsports begin to freeze.you have nothing to lose with these stations.
Is MTV India,VH1,et al still free on Pas 7/10?

Enitan/mide2008,
thanks for granting me 24hours internet freedom.I am sure you all understand the code.so I am available for this thread 24/7.

@olofofo,and other motorised users in Lagos area,
thanks to badaru1.he was able to solve the Astra mystery for me.it is Astra28*East-active tps are 12148 and 12168.he also disclosed that Atlantic Bird2 8*W is very active here showing Orbit and Kabelkiosk packages with some porn channels all opened by abracadabra-tps12649v27500,10972v27500,etc.on the weak signals from Hotbird and Eurobird, shake your motorised dish gently to the right or left.badaru revealed that those birds are not directly on the arc,a bit off.I will try them all tomorrow.

@Enitan,
I'll see you next weekend.sorry for all inconveniences.zain is still having gprs problems.

@twinstaiye,
I didnt understand your last post on keys for Strong at anaimgr.com.they are not available now.

Satellite TV Technology / Re: Official Thread of Free To Air Satellite TV (Part 2) by toxnaija: 4:44pm On Jan 23, 2009
all,
on the issue of equipment,George-D has said it all.Sincerely,I agree with the opponents and proponents because Adewest never used any device. He used his sight to do the plumming of the pole.He even taught me how to do so many things without devices but that doesnt mean I wouldnt need them.they are very essential for a serious hobbyist and his home incase his wife or brother would have to do some minor adjustment.I got a wrench spanner for my 3m fibre dish in December when Adewest visited the dish farm.Would you believe that the spanner has been very helpful for other things?I have repaired so many things in the house with it including my defective water tap.thanks to olofofo for the rs232 cable gift, one of my satellite equipment.
On the passing of info,I have passed this to so many genuine members on the phone.I cant afford to allow those stup, d installers, that nearly mobbed me in Abeokuta over a N300 disecq they wanted to sell at N2500,to learn anything thru this forum. They will surely come and beg or spy at my set-up at night.I am tying one of my dogs near the site soon.the Astra I talked about is actually Astra2/eurobird1,sorry for the mix-up.
new echolink software available since Jan.19.2003.It is better and has Sexview package for all the ashawos like engineer and his pal in Ibadan.check srsupport.com  or all other sat sites.

Adrusa,
dont mind Engineer Ashawo. My mom is tired of reading Psalm23 over my consistent climbing of my one storey balcony in Abeokuta and tweaking of my 3m fibre.Everything is now a thing of the past with the magical touch from Adewest. We(olofofo, ekoonibaje and myself) just left him at the cantonment.I would love to hear from you.We have so many things in common.I ran away from Medicine sixteen years ago to get into broadcasting/pr/advertising.I am not regretting this at all.with all the swarm of pretty nurses and other personnel around,I no go find am easy oooo.i hope u no dey read doctors and nurses romance books?my mother and elder brother are your syringe-jabbing colleagues and a member of this forum too in KD.where are you located?

enigma,
i miss you no be small ooo.what other European birds do you think we could track?I hope this satellite thing no go make me forget about my trip ooo, except i can lay cable from Abeokuta to Europe.pls get me a contractor for the job.

F-Marshal,
thanks for the congratulatory call a few minutes ago all the way from Obama's land.badaru, obnelly, ola, engineer Ashawo, etc, thanks a lot.

Butoneday,
wetin dey?i miss you ooo.any news on ur 6m fibre?

folo28/enitan,
thanks.I sincerely believe you will pick Showsports 24/7 at your end with the Adewest touch. The welder in front of your house will make things faster for him.I am sure all the time you need to improve on the signal is less than 30minutes.
oga Ashawo,Adewest no get time for fishes.we were too busy but he sipped a few bottles of 1759 and , call him to fill in the blank.I am leaving Lagos as early as 7am on Saturday all because of FTA.na wa ooo.how far with the zain stuff.pls holla me at midnight.I am tired of Starcomm's epilepsy.I will upload pictures of the installation at the weekend.we actually forgot to do that.

adrusa,
without wasting words,a lot of us here have engaged several installers in the past without getting results.I had the services of about 4 in the past without any great result except the last one who was the best.it was Adewest that made a lot of us in Lagos area to realise that we could pick Nilesat, orbit and hotbird on 1.8m.we thought it was impossible.he also discovered astra here.so,why do you have to pour cold water on his highly commendable efforts?Installers here believe that showtime sports cant be picked even with 4m,but we proved them wrong.please go back and read how he was chased away by some members when he dropped some valuable info which everybody is now enjoying.adrusa,if you no fear man please fear God oooo.Yorubas would say- orisa ti o ba le gbe mi,se mi bi o se ba mi-god/diety if you cant improve my condition please dont make it worse.if you cant commend him, please it is better to keep mute than make us feel bad.why didnt my installers rectify the 3m problems for about 4years,yet Adewest performed the magic in minutes?Installers here are shocked about his feat.so what are you talking about,or you be installer?or could it be that you are in the North?if you are, then i will understand why you thought that it was no big deal.if you see the way guys here are talking about getting 4m fibre for showsports/art,then you will understand why Adewest is being reverred.regards.

all,
I am very sorry for the long silence.I was damn too tired after the highly successful operation ooops, installation.I had to shuttle between Lagos and Abeokuta 100km thrice at the weekend getting Adewest and the equipment.I dozed off thrice while driving alone on Saturday.I had to rush back to Lagos the following morning inspite of the fact that I was on the radio overnight. This is the installation diary.
SUNDAY-Adewest and I got to Abeokuta on Sunday afternoon.we proceeded to site and discovered to our chagrin that the pole which had been mounted for over a month had a very weak concrete base.we spent the whole of the evening getting the pole in place, buying half a bag of cement and I personally dug the ground deeper.I almost quenched, with my palm bleeding.Adewest was annoyed and was almost leaving for Lagos. It was not my fault that the bricklayer didnt do a good job.I eventually used juju to hook Adewest for 3days.we went to bed at about 11pm completely exhausted.
MONDAY-We woke up at exactly 6am to freshen up and to start coupling the Strong 2.4m pan which is damn too heavy.Adewest must be an incredible hulk to have been able to transport about 4 of it to Lagos from Bauchi! I nearly collapsed when I carried the package out for assembling.we finished the task of coupling by 7.30am.By then, the pole's concrete base was fairly dry. With the help of my brothers,we got the dish on the pole.then, the allignment task started.we tried StarGold lnb and later used Digisat. We eventually settled for Digisat.Sincerely,Adewest is a genius. He took his time to get the very best of allignment and signal. We got all the birds from Thaicom on the extreme East  to MetrotvGhana on the extreme West.I found it unbelievable when we got Astra1H on 19 East but all the Sky channels are scrambled.Hotbird,Nilesat(without Showsports) and Orbit(Eurobird2)were also picked easily.the new jack he brought from Bauchi had a problem while we were tracking. It delayed us for about an hour but luckily I had a spare which we eventually used.We later moved to rectify the fault on the 3m fibre.the welder had already adjusted the scaller.Adewest brought another Fuji lnb to replace the old Fuji.In the past,I used to pick Showsports  between 4pm and 6am,CNN 10pm to 6am.With Adewest's magical touch on Monday night,I now pick everything 24hrs no freezing at 56/58% and 54/56% respectively at the peak period,52/50% and 50/48% at the weak period. He said the reason for the initial fault was the focal length which was too long, and the old Fuji lnb on it is not as strong as the new Fuji.I think folo28 has the same challenge with his 3m fibre in Abule-Egba,Lagos.We went to bed the following day at about 2am after talking to mide2008 on the phone.
TUESDAY-We left for Lagos at 9am feeling really exhausted.I am going back to Abeokuta on Saturday to connect as many neighbours to the receivers.
Many thanks to PHCN for ensuring that we had electricity for about 70% of our installation time.My neighbours thought I bribed PHCN for the steady power supply we had.the situation improved the moment we got all equipment on site so it was hard to believe that I didnt talk to PHCN/NEPA.the only casuality we had was the new jack and Thaicom.we had to change the direction of the lnb holder which has 3 lnbs(1 ku-band,1 c-band dielectric,1 c-band non dielectric) to improve on the Nilesat Horizontal signal,so we had to sacrifice Thaicom which was worth it.I suggest that anybody in the Lagos area looking for Showsports should get a motorised 3m or 4m motorised fibre or pan.Olofofo and Adewest just informed me that 3m is scarce now at the moulder's workshop at Ladipo,Lagos.4m fibre is available for N58000,AND YOU ARE SURE OF PICKING EVERY GADDEM  THING.2.4m pan can pick Showsports only from Ibadan/Osogbo upward, even Abeokuta latitude could not reach the weak signal on 2.4m not to talk of Lagos.I use the 3m fibre for it.the mesh and 1.8m pan have been brought down for keeps or sale if you can pick them in Abeokuta.they are still good and going out at a cheap price for serious bidders.no long distance courier transaction please.I am just too busy and weak to do it.
Olofofo is next on the installation itinerary.I just spoke to ADEWEST at Olofofo's end. That was the installation diary. All enquiries to Adewest please.I AM STILL FAGGED OUT! Thanks to every member
.

Gofitec/Fasone,
thanks for the call.on the new jsc+ patch,it disables disney and bloomberg even if you put the keys manually.wetin u dey do with them when you can pick everything on echolink.the January 2009 software takes time to open ART but the December 23,2008 is very fast.So upgrade echolink with the December 23,2008 software.ADEWEST brought some echolink receivers.I heard it is getting scarce in the North.

Adewest,
thanks a trillion. You are a genius.please dont forget to collect the Rs232 cable from Olofofo. He has dashed me one.I still cant use the usb to serial port.I think it is not meant for satellite receivers but telephones.anybody with solution should please proffer it,especially Vickoy23.

Nash-FTA,
I just got the globecast tests and TV Sport ro on sirius

@all,
i am having problems transferring data(firmware) with the bafo usb to serial port cable.I have done all the possible troubleshooting.what could be wrong?my laptop is a vista without the Rs232 cable outlet so i had to get the usb-serial.I heard it is always like that.
D-day is here for the installation.more info on Monday evening.pls watch out.

olofofo,
thanks for uploading the patch for 4653x.all users can get it on www.soirnet.com too.I will patch it when I get to Abeokuta on Saturday. Is the size 1.13MB after downloading?that's what i got.I am afraid of frying my system.Did you use rs232 cable or usb after extracting?I am trying my usb to serial port for the first time on Saturday.

all,
I was discussing the Strong patch with Adewest yesternight. He made me realise that the competition from Echolink is getting too hot for Strong,so they had to negotiate with the only hot provider left i.e. JSC Sports.Echolink will send them out of the market if they dont act fast.the competition is to our advantage.Do you realise that all the hot packages receiveable in Nigeria/West Africa are now hacked-SHOWTIME/ART/HOTBIRD/ORBIT/JSC SPORTS.Would they last for very long?I wish I could answer that question.

baba-egun,
thanks for the call this morning.I am very grateful.I hope to visit you in Abuja someday.I will check you out on Facebook.I have added you on the friends list.

George-D,
the problem is that I am too busy to even eat well not to talk of climbing dishes now.I took just one glass of milk all thru Saturday so when would i have the time.my installer that could also help was not available on the phone though i would have to pay him for it.the only way out is for you to come to Abeokuta on Saturday or Sunday to do it yourself.I hope you understand my plight.Do we agree on this?

F_Marshal,
thanks for the compliments.thank God you arrived safely.I am waiting for the call.

pitodenz,
Congratulations.please send the e-cake now.any news from Port-Harcourt?

enigma,
thanks for coming to my rescue.I have drummed it into the ears of all of us over five times that these providers do not really have our time.stop giving them undue recognition.why do they leave their transmission open when they knew we could pick it free.Share whatever info you have openly. Is TV3 Ghana not better than RDV and STV,yet they are fta even with Spanish la-liga twice a week?please, enough of this hush, hush on this thread.if any provider encrypts,he had always wanted to do that.it is not because of what we write.DSTV would have encypted TCM if they follow our posts.

Butoneday,
howdy?how far with the 6m installation.hope to hear from you soon.

butoneday,
thanks for the lengthy call from the sea-offshore.I really appreciate your complimentary words.I look forward to a vacation with you in Warri before my trip.

Adewest,
how far with our arrangements?I hope they are still tight.Pls get the very best you can get.we must catch all the birds dole dole.i am looking forward to hosting you.

all,
please let's show courtesy to everyone on this thread.Just like I admonished when Adewest was being villified then, would you believe some of our members are highly respected people in the society.I was pleasantly surprised by Adewest's personality when we met after he was nearly crucified.I got another surprise from Butoneday some hours ago.He is a big boy who is also very humble.I cant tell you his job so that you wont kidnap him.I must confess that this thread has made me very humble with the calibre of people on it.I will never leave this community.

Ecowas4all,
Stv is still on Sirius.Adewest confirmed it yesternight,so dont worry about their pranks.

Adewest,
please let's go for the best and new accessories.I trust ur expertise anyday, anytime.
Satellite TV Technology / Re: Official Thread of Free To Air Satellite TV (Part 2) by toxnaija: 9:38pm On Jan 06, 2009
butoneday,
I didnt get you clearly on the first pix.I am really impressed with the constructions.I will love to hear from you via the phone.

Ecowas,
please no vex for me.I just don't see anything special in Stv's line-up.Tell me why you don't want us to call their bluff.I promise not to let out info anyhow again as long as it is not all these stupid local stations on satellite.I hope it was Stv I got with that frequency.I f you had given me CFI or RDV's frequency,I would have kept it a secret or passed it privately to other members.please no vex.I owe you two bottles of ur favourite beer.

Adewest,
please send the money to this acct number National Bank of Nigeria 123456789101112.I dey vex with U.You caused the upset by writing Strong in ur previous post instead of Stronger dish.If you don't get to Abeokuta now,I go radiophone Gen.Abass to courtmartial Uyour OC is my kin from Abeokuta and shey you no say my brother don arrive from Sudan.we go discipline you no be small for Bauchi.where Bukuru school dey.Is it the same Bukuru in the North?I am waiting for you jare.I am back in Lagos.I will call you in a few minutes.Mommy and Daddy are always asking after you.

Pitodenz,
no mind Adewest.na him cause confusion by writing Strong earlier instead of Stronger. If he doesnt send the money to National bank, him go hear when.if you know their branch, please tell him.thanks for the concern.I hope you still remember that bank.

Bodejohn,
no mind Enitan, hin wan start again.TV Malawi and Angola were picked without stress by Adewest on my 3m fibre in Abeokuta.Be careful with Engineer Ashawo as he prepares to visit ur daughter.
Satellite TV Technology / Re: Official Thread of Free To Air Satellite TV (Part 2) by toxnaija: 10:28am On Jan 06, 2009
Ecowas,

To hell with Stv 1/2 moving here and there.I have blindscanned them out of their hiding on w3a.I hope they are the station with the GAB 01 call sign on 11104 H 3793.Let them leave or scramble if they want to.I dont think their line-up is fantastic so why should we pay to watch them when Showtime gives the very best on Nilesat, even better than all the pay-tv providers in Africa.A Showtime card annual subscription in England costs £500 yet we watch it for free on Echolink.I suggest we all go for bigger dishes to save us the stress of these rubbish small stations like Stv,RDV.Did you realise that RDV was re-transmitting Showsports signals for its premiership which you can pick directly on Nilesat+Echolink?
Satellite TV Technology / Re: Official Thread of Free To Air Satellite TV (Part 2) by toxnaija: 10:03am On Jan 06, 2009
Adewest,
I am beginning not to like the scenario.I paid for the Eurostar 2.4m pan to get the very best for all of us on this thread.the success of the Abeokuta installation is not for me alone but for us all.A lot of people stayed back to watch the outcome of our installation but the moment we get fantastic results, you would be surprised at the deluge of request for installation from them.I dont mind being the guinea pig.that's human beings for you, always waiting for someone to take the risk.I am not getting you clearly on the price issue.I sincerely hope I would not be asked to pay more for a dish.I am not an expert in dishes, but if you insist the Strong dishes being brought in from Dubai are better than the Eurostar we were waiting for, please get it or any tested better dish.I am not happy at all.You also got my mind greatly troubled and confused with this piece of information.I get disturbed easily when things dont go smoothly after I have done all the right things.you said you are waiting for the Dubai consignment, but where did you get the dish you installed recently?I am sorry for the queries but I just dont want anything to go wrong.Dont misunderstand me,I want the very best for the installation.I hope to hear from you later today.I would have called you but I am very broke as I am just resuming back in Lagos today.

Ecowas4all/all Ghana members,
thanks.I will check it in a few minutes. Please can you tell the house more info about TVAfrica-is it private or govt-owned?does it have anything to do with the old TVAfrica transmitting from South Africa some years ago?Does anyone still pick GTV on satellite?I have not seen it for several days.
Satellite TV Technology / Re: Official Thread of Free To Air Satellite TV (Part 2) by toxnaija: 9:04pm On Jan 05, 2009
Captainus,
Just like olofofo mentioned, why dont you get yourself a bigger dish preferably 3m fibre or 2.4m pan as you are in southern Ghana.I had to sacrifice my 2.4m mesh for a 2.4m eurostar pan all because I want to enjoy the best of fta. 2.4m mesh is not the best for distant signals  such as Nilesat/Hotbird but it is fantastic for nearby signals especially when you have both C and KU bands on it.My mesh was installed exactly 3 years ago(Xmas/New year holiday 2005/6) but the mesh is still very strong.I am really crazy about TV3.I enjoyed watching Afuah Asiedu on the news this morning. They show 2 live Spanish la-liga matches, according to the website.

Ecowas4all,
pls mail me through toxnaija@gmail.com  for the gists.I think they are not the only one misbehaving.ArianeTV on w3a does that too-going off for days and coming back later.thanks.

olofofo,
thanks for the answer on echolink.I hope you have called Adewest.I was on the phone with him all through the early morning.Any breakthrough with the fibre dish search?I was about posting the above when Adewest's reply came in.

Adewest,
I hope there is good news for me too on our installation.
Satellite TV Technology / Re: Official Thread of Free To Air Satellite TV (Part 2) by toxnaija: 1:25am On Jan 05, 2009
Captainus,
thanks a lot for the info. So,we have been missing all the top la liga matches.I hope to hear from you as soon as there are more frequencies.I will check the website straight away.why is there no interest on echolink from Ghana, could it be the elections?I believe Adewest's experiment on 2.4m pan at my place in a few days will help you a lot at your end in Ghana.please sensitise others on it.I hope to visit Ghana next year.

Olofofo,
Adewest asked that I inform you that he has a friend in Lagos who is good at moulding 4m fibre. He requests that you call him later today as he has been trying to get you on the phone.

all,
I got this piece of information on tv3 website   tv3.com.gh

Tv3 Goes Satellite

Ghana's favourite television station, TV3, can now be viewed in all 53 African countries and Europe.
This follows the successful installation of a c-band satellite to broadcast the network's much sought after programmes.
While the station is poised to reach the entire country before the end of the year, the satellite transmission is set to put "Adesa we" on a high pedestal for world class content.
In line with TV3's aim of sustaining the leadership position as Ghana’s number one TV channel, the station activated its satellite equipment on may 24 to go beyond the borders of ghana, as part of efforts to achieve the free-to-air television station nationwide coverage status.
The station has acquired up to date modern c-band satellite system to broadcast its programme to the whole of Africa and Europe.
While TV3 would continue to run terrestrial broadcasting with the satellite network, it will migrate to the digital system as required by the international broadcasting organisation.
For the stations numerous and discerning viewers, quality and content is going to get even better.
The Director, Client Service Group, Nana Kutin-Mensah is positive about the prospects for companies, organizations and individuals who do business with the station.
He added that, TV3 signals now cuts across the boundaries of Ghana and can be viewed world and that, corperate entities who do business with TV3 will have more value for their investment.
Viewers who want to watch Tv3 live via satellite can use the following cordinates :
Freq - 3739MHZ
Fec-7/8
Pal - V
Cord - 2200 W
Sat - NSS7
SR - 1.755 m/s

SPANISH LA-LIGA runs live on Saturday and Sunday,English Premiership runs live on Saturday and Monday on TV3 Ghana.the private station is owned and run by Malaysian investors with a Nigerian, Roland Ajetumobi the Director of Finance.I will supply more info as they unfold.tv3 is worth watching with the impressive line-up especially news, movies and sports.
