Crime › Re: The Latest On The 4 Uniport Students Killed By Aluu by tpia5: 3:33pm On Oct 25, 2012
seejtech: . These did not come into the system today and at no time have they done anything as horrifying as what Aluu did even in all their ill. Besides. The original story here is has no ring of truth to it. Those boys were not picked up with any weapon as I hear. Also, there's a lot of stories flying around no one knows what really happened. But as I'm sure, God will not keep quiet and let such wickednedd go unpunished. As far as I'm concerned, no human being deserve to die the way those boys died, nobody! No matter what their crime is. It's unthinkable, my skin still crawls everytime I remember what I saw in that video online. cry cry

if you have suggestions or contributions to make to the booklet, then forward them to the relevant authorities' websites.

instead of you to ask if the booklets were translated into yoruba and/or other languages, you're doing another thing. undecided

Culture › Re: Igbos Of Nigeria By British Missionaries by tpia5: 2:53am On Oct 25, 2012
actually, i think i got it wrong.

g t basden lived among the igbo, and his book was about the peoples east of the niger.

i think one chapter referred to western ibo and that was about it, coupled with a few photos of people from the area.

the bulk of his work dealt with southeast.

its been a while since i read the book.
Culture › Re: Igbos Of Nigeria By British Missionaries by tpia5: 9:50pm On Oct 24, 2012
I actually read the book awhile back but cant remember many of the details.

Much of it was about the traditional religions, etc.
Culture › Re: Igbos Of Nigeria By British Missionaries by tpia5: 9:32pm On Oct 24, 2012
He has infact posted about what his white missionary colonial masters thought of yorubas, relatively good stuff cheesy

I have no issues with the dissing, just want him to quit trying to pretend he knew what he was highlighting
I think some white colonials wrote yorubas were verbiose or some such cheesy

But they wrote about whichever part of yorubaland they were familiar with, not yorubas as a whole.
Culture › Re: Igbos Of Nigeria By British Missionaries by tpia5:
G t basden's books are fairly well known in regional historical reference circles.

He lived in the area a couple of centuries ago, and wrote some detailed studies of the people.
Culture › Re: Igbos Of Nigeria By British Missionaries by tpia5: 9:26pm On Oct 24, 2012
that's obviously not what the poster though when he posted this article else he wouldn't have felt the need to highlight comparison between one Igbo group and another.
The thread is just one of the usual t.it for tat topics that are commonly found around here.

The yoruba equivalent is probably lurking around somewhere.
Culture › Re: Igbos Of Nigeria By British Missionaries by tpia5:
The western side being referred to wasnt western nigeria, but the western part of the area being studied.

I doubt g t basden spent any length of time in yorubaland.

even one of the aluu four still survived the severe torture inflicted on him. He died later, when he was being ferried to safety.
