On one occasion an expert in the law stood up to test Jesus. “Teacher,” he asked, “what must I do to inherit eternal life?”

26 “What is written in the Law?” he replied. “How do you read it?”

27 He answered, “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind’[c]; and, ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’”
“Which of these three do you think was a neighbor to the man who fell into the hands of robbers?”

37 The expert in the law replied, “The one who had mercy on him.”

Jesus told him, “Go and do likewise.”
mercy is an attribute of God.

the little most of us know about the samaritans is they were one of the most despised people by the isrealites back then. And the feeling was mutual.

the lawyer no doubt would have been familiar with many victims of samaritans, and probably despised them as much as everybody else.

Jesus pointed out the humanity of the samaritan to him, as well as the inhumanity [or mistakes] of the other two who he probably identified with.

On one occasion an expert in the law stood up to test Jesus. “Teacher,” he asked, “what must I do to inherit eternal life?”

26 “What is written in the Law?” he replied. “How do you read it?”

He answered, “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind’; and, ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’”

28 “You have answered correctly,” Jesus replied. “Do this and you will live.”

29 But he wanted to justify himself, so he asked Jesus, “And who is my neighbor?”

30 In reply Jesus said: “A man was going down from Jerusalem to Jericho, when he was attacked by robbers. They stripped him of his clothes, beat him and went away, leaving him half dead.

31 A priest happened to be going down the same road, and when he saw the man, he passed by on the other side.

32 So too, a Levite, when he came to the place and saw him, passed by on the other side.

33 But a Samaritan, as he traveled, came where the man was; and when he saw him, he took pity on him.

34 He went to him and bandaged his wounds, pouring on oil and wine. Then he put the man on his own donkey, brought him to an inn and took care of him.

35 The next day he took out two denarii and gave them to the innkeeper. ‘Look after him,’ he said, ‘and when I return, I will reimburse you for any extra expense you may have.’

36 “Which of these three do you think was a neighbor to the man who fell into the hands of robbers?”

37 The expert in the law replied, “The one who had mercy on him.”

Jesus told him, “Go and do likewise.”

It is what separates me from say an American or Brit, a French person, a German, etc.
are you white?

Many Nigerians do not even want to be seen as different, and they feel that being different and not themselves (aka an original) is a bad thing.
those of us who are BLACK, AFRICAN AND NIGERIAN know what it is to be different!!!!

culture isnt the determinant of being different or the same in such instances!!!!!

if you are referring to sagging pants and whatever, then say so.

if, however somebody's accent is what's giving you a hard time, then i just hope you learn to stop taking panadol over what doesnt concern you.
Christianity Etc › Re: Who Is My Enemy? by tpia5:
Do I brand someone an enemy because he offended me openly?
not on a one-off situation unless you have strong reasons to feel otherwise.

How bout friends who betray me behind?
maybe, maybe not.

it depends.

Is there a particular criteria or standard by which we can gauge whether to call some enemies? What do you think?
there has to be a consistent effort to attack you.

the attacks take place over time and are constant and unyielding in intensity.

meaning the person or persons are unwavering and dedicated to this task.

Jasiel: Hi, everyone. I was reading rom 12:20, and it struck me that I didn't know how to describe my enemy.
definition of enemy:

: one that is antagonistic to another; especially: one seeking to injure, overthrow, or confound an opponent
One who feels hatred toward, intends injury to, or opposes the interests of another; a foe.

a few quotes about enemies:

Pay attention to your enemies, for they are the first to discover your mistakes" [Antisthenes]

"You can discover what your enemy fears most by observing the means he uses to frighten you" [Eric Hoffer The Passionate State of Mind]

"A man cannot be too careful in the choice of his enemies" [Oscar Wilde Lady Windermere's Fan]

"A very great man once said you should love your enemies, and that's not a bad piece of advice. We can love them, but, by God, that doesn't mean we're not going to fight them" [Norman Schwarzkopf]
Christianity Etc › Re: Who Is My Enemy? by tpia5: 3:42am On Aug 24, 2012
an enemy is someone who hates you and who works constantly for your downfall.

key word here is constantly.

an enemy will not tire of plotting against you and will often extend this hatred to those close to you ie family members.

yamakuza: she must be very beautiful
most likely.

more reason why she cant afford to be careless.

people view beauty in different ways- when i point out most beautiful women do not have things easy, especially in nigeria, people claim i say that because I'm ugly.

ok oh!!!

if you're too beautiful, (most times ugly) men will just sleep with you (whether by r.ape or whatever), and then boast about it, while calling you a slut to all and sundry.

the poster could simply have butt and bust though, but more likely its facial beauty.

there's a reason for it.

we live in world full of psycho's
very true.

let the living take note and adjust their lifestyle accordingly
there are times when people can afford not to know their family history.

the times we're living in now, arent those.

definitely! same m.o. for 5 straight jobs, remember?

they just bungled it
first it was she was their sixth dead victim.

then it changed to they've drugged 4 other girls who remained alive, while she ended up dead "by mistake".

in any case, as i said yesterday and was jumped by one or more of their associates for doing so, the other victims need to be identified, named and located.

the "bungling" part is the excuse they want to give the judge and also to forestall any wider issues arising from this killing.

yamakuza: naaaaaaaaaaaaaaa, thats a long shot. the book wont sell.
sometimes the truth has to be told.

if the girl had understood all this, she might have been more careful about her movements and who she associated with.

with the ones that remain alive, things go as planned (they fall, are used, and are offloaded)

and, ritualists are not involved
the ones that remain alive, are allowed to do so for a reason- namely their death is not yet needed.

and vice versa.

people [girls especially] do not understand the concept of slavery.
