Still waiting for your proof that Igbos voted for Jonathan because they mistook him for being Igbo. Ebele and Azikiwe are Jonathans name and were not added. Ebele is an Ijaw name. Full name is Ebelemi which is Ijaw and not Ebelechukwu which is Igbo. Azikiwe was given to him by his father because of his reverence for the late Statesman. I have no qaurel with you but for you to post that Igbo voted for Jonathan because of name or because they thought him to be Igbo is faulty and an insult to the whole Igbo race. In the second republic, many Igbos did not vote for Azikiwe so why should 30 years later they vote for somebody because he is answering his name?

President Goodluck Jonathan’s Ebele Is Ebelemi – Not Igbo

Finally, the truth about President Jonathan’s Ebele has been revealed. According to one Hon. Juventus Ojukwu, ( please note that it is not Odimegwu Ojukwu) who was elected twice to the House of Representatives in the second republic, Ebele in President Jonathan’s name is short form of Ebelemi, an Ijaw name.

Ojukwu, a commissioned officer of the Nigerian Army before the civil war, is surprised that President Jonathan’s Ebele, which has been popularized as Igbo name for maximum political gains, excites Ndi Igbo.

Jonathan visits Ojukwu in Enugu

I consider myself an Igbo man’ says Jonathan

He said: “I am here to inform the people of the South East that I and Vice President Namadi Sambo are vying for presidency and to seek the support of the South East zone.  I believe you will support us because I am one of you.    I consider himself as an Igbo man because of the circumstances of my birth and I believe you all regard me as your own son.”

Why Igbo prefer Jonathan, by Aka Ikenga, Wabara

AKA Ikenga, a group of Igbo professionals worldwide, has hinted of the resolve of its members to rally round President Goodluck Jonathan at Saturday’s polls.

For Ebigwai, “the thinking is that today, an Ijaw man is going to war, so let every Igbo man take his bow and arrow and follow him to that battle field”.

Igbo leaders in North back Jonathan

PRESIDENT Goodluck Jonathan’s run for the 2011 presidency took another major leap, yesterday, with Igbo leaders in the 19 northern states endorsing his candidature for Saturday’s presidential election.

While assuring that Igbos in the northern states and nationwide will vote en masse for the President come Saturday, Ogechukwu said: “We will go to the hinterland to mobilise all our people that Mr. President must be made to stay in Aso Rock.”

The group urged the President to take more stringent measures to ensure security of lives and property of all Nigerians.

On what date or ocassion did Jonathan claim to be Igbo and not Ijaw/ In which forum did Igbos say that Jonathan is Igbo and not from Otuoke , Ogbia LGA of Bayelsa State. In which discuss did Igbo vote for Jonathan because he is Igbo and not Ijaw?
are you now denying jonathan claimed he was igbo -likewise ijaws and igbos suddenly "discovered" they're one and the same- all during that election period?

i really dont have your time- sebi dauda ti da nkan to feda.

Igbos voted for Jonathan because of many reasons one being that he was the best of the options presented for voting
maybe, maybe not- at least that might make sense perhaps.

at least its an excuse.

but never for ever thinking that he was Igbo.
stop fooling yourself.

if you didnt hear "ebele" thrown around during elections like somebody reinventing the wheel, then i hope you wont deny other people did.

you also want to deny azikiwe was added to his many names at one time?

is there any evidence there are 3 million igbos in kano? huh

when did they arrive there, which part of the east are the majority of them from, what was the effect on the home states and hometowns of the exodus of such a large number of people.

i believe i've asked similar questions about these demographic shifts before.

How many of you knew about Jonathan Igbo names until few months ago because of election?
i continuously wonder how and why people will support somebody enmasse just because he or she claimed some vague linkage in order to win an election? huh

i was attacked by ezeuche on this very matter for daring to ask a question about jonathan's "igboness".

imo, anybody who wants to claim distant kinship with some clan, should do so personally [head for your "family" compound, not the whole tribe] and not on a political platform. I mean, its too obvious or is that just me.

i found it so amazing that gej who even someone who has never seen a black person before, talkless a nigerian, would recognize as an ijaw man, suddenly claimed to be igbo and not only that [since he's entitled to claim whatever he wants], people actually swallowed it hook, line and sinker and practically took up arms on that account.

has to be one of the seven wonders of the universe imo.

how many hausas has he seen on nl for him to make such broad statements.

the few hausas here are generally pro-igbo.

the igbo hating ones are most likely not on this site and in any case, there are only a small number of hausas on nl, like i said before.

true, a priest who is inclined that way, doesnt have to go to a dating site to get a girl.

many of such would have access to better looking females than they'd even find on the web.
