why did NASA spend millions to develop a pen that could write in space when they could have just stick to using pencil?
that seems to be an urban legend.

an explanation is on wiki and snopes:

A common urban legend states that, faced with the fact that ball-point pens will not write in zero-gravity, NASA spent a large amount of money to develop a pen that would write in the conditions experienced during spaceflight (the result purportedly being the Fisher Space Pen), while the Soviet Union took the simpler (and cheaper) route of just using pencils.

Russian cosmonauts used pencils, and grease pencils on plastic slates until also adopting a space pen in 1969 with a purchase of 100 units for use on all future missions.[1] NASA programs previously used pencils (for example a 1965 order of mechanical pencils[2]) but because of the substantial dangers that broken-off pencil tips and graphite dust pose in zero gravity to electronics and the flammable nature of the wood present in pencils[2] a better solution was needed. NASA never approached Paul Fisher to develop a pen, nor did Fisher receive any government funding for the pen's development. Fisher invented it independently, and then asked NASA to try it. After the introduction of the AG7 Space Pen, both the American and Soviet (later Russian) space agencies adopted it.

WAVixen:
I use garlic to cook, and three days in a month I chew them raw.
This might not be proper for this thread, but, it's an old wives tale that after your periods. For a few days raw garlic is inserted into the womanliness to cleanse and act as an anti biotic. One is inserted into the womanliness in the morning and taken out at night.A new one is inserted at night and removed the next day.
smiley
keep sharing, this is very interesting.

Cuddlemii:
I am half Calabar- Adiabo Ibonda and half Akwa Ibom- Ikot Akpa-Edok (both parents & that's all I know). I speak both Calabar & Akwa-Ibom very well but I don't know how to write it (although I can try by following the pronunciation)

The cuzin thingy was a joke on chat room back then. Just like you guys were assuming I was Dyt or so.

I dnt know if u missed the calabar food is over rated thread where I addressed the topic extensively & argued in favor of Calabars. Several times here I have talked about Calabar gracefully or being from there. I didn't polish Calabars on this thread because I am from there already I might as well be loyal to another tribe, that's unity(no need for division). If I had hyped it, I will also be criticized for bragging about it or discriminating.

I will increase my loyalty level next time, apologies to Calabars.
which calabar person talks like this? huh

Career › Re: Physics Graduates: Lets Meet Here by tpia5: 12:03pm On Jan 25, 2012
@ topic

The best option is probably to go for the masters and then phd, like others have said.

Physics, like maths, is a very good course but the challenge is little information about their applications and edge in the job market.

But these are fields the world simply cant do without because they're very important for technological advancement.

Op

1. If you met a muslim who had been the victim of terrorist attacks from radical organizations such as boko haram, what would you tell them.

2. If you met a christian who was a victim of the same, what would you tell him or her.

Short answer, please. Using your own words and not too many Quranic quotations.

Also, apart from the " they are not muslims" argument.

Pastors are not hated in nigeria, whether rich or poor.

It's probably the diasporans who have imbibed bad habits and questionable friendships abroad, who are finding time to hate pastors

If that's not possible then keep hollering about it everywhere.

Any of those options is fine.
