The entire Old Oyo Empire should have been accommodated in present day Nigeria. So many Yoruba-speaking benionise actually have their origin or extended family in Nigeria dahomey broke away from the oyo empire long before nigeria was formed. and yes, the region was made up of many people including yorubas back then. |

Ladies , the next time you start dating a man with children, ask him this question: "why are you not with the mother of your child(ren)?" Listen very carefully , this could tell you a lot about the character of the person you are deaing with. well said. |

TewMuch: It depends on the family: Oba means king, and in some families it also translates to God, as God is the king of kings right?
Now SANJO: SAN EJO, Resolve the dispute/ judge the matter/or revenge for me
God will vindicate me/ God will resolve the dispute/ God will revenge for me, e.t.c. That is my own understanding of the name. Very very coincidental right? You were very correct to try to find out what the name meant, Yoruba's name children according to circumstances. But Obasanjo is supposedly his father's name. Olusegun is his name, basically God has been victorious in war/over enemies. He should just come out with the truth, nothing to lose anymore. All his children will be shunned from politics now in Yorubaland if he keeps quiet. Silence means acceptance. The end of his dynasty is over. Kai, he must be in torment now. thanks for your answer. now, is there any other name similar to that, which you know of. eg akinsanjo, adesanjo, olusanjo, fasanjo, etc. i've never heard of any but that's not to say they dont exist. |

what are the reporter, the op and some nlers whining about again? the front of the building was ok, therefore your longerthroat carried you to the back, which btw still wasnt dirty enough for your liking, hence the meaningless diatribe. as for the gutter- was it still dirty the next day. there was no restroom facility to release my anguish, thankfully the bosses thought it wise to do without a suggestion box. cant blame the owners for not having a restroom or a suggestion box. |

When jambites were busy scrambling for accommodation, this girl had a three bedroom flat (well furnished) all to herself.
Her parents sent nothing less than £800 pounds to her every month
Before the twinkle of an eye, this girl started rolling with the bad girls on campus. knock on wood. self explanatory. |

^^money issues.
i'm ok reading the excerpt and besides this matter has been floating around before the book.
if a real picture of his yoruba dad is available then someone should post it.
anyway, i'm more interested in the etymology of his name.
yoruba names arent usually that difficult to analyze. |

what about that guy and iyabo. olafolarin: Oba-san-jo Means King made things easier/gave us wealth/
OBJ is no doubt a Yorubaman even though he has different ideology. can you break down that meaning further because it's still not clear. wealth is ola or aje in yoruba. Not jo. no one is saying he's not yoruba. As someone pointed out earlier, you can be yoruba through either parent if necessary. Not commonly done of course but doesnt mean it cant happen. |

Nairaland General › Re: Do You Think People Find You Interesting? by tpia5: 10:18am On Nov 01, 2010 |
@ topic i hope they dont. for those that do, they inevitably get shortchanged. Do you get people to talk to you spontaneously on the streets? (again for non sexual reasons), Do people look at you with the intent of talking even if they don't? What about customer service? Do you notice you get treated better at times? Does your reputation precede you, and people look forward to meet you? weird questions. |
