Nigerians, this is an international project. EU and some other donor agencies through ECOWAS have funded consultancy work on this road. The consultancy work has been completed.Nothing is heard since the completion of the consultancy work. Recently, another project was conceived which is more than the earlier project which terminated in Accra. Read below, statement on the information about Dakar to Lagos Expressway project. There is also the Cameroon - Calabar - Enugu Expressway Project. The only thing is that Lagos outbound remains the main project as affiliated countries have borders with other countries even up to Niger republics, Gambia, Sierra Leone, etc. Naija, read below. Bissau, the capital of Guinea Bissau, will in future be linked by motorway to other West African capitals, as the result of a project launched by the Chinese government and by the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS). Construction of the Trans-West African Highway, which will be 2,000 kilometres long, is part of an agreement to develop facilities and for economic cooperation signed last week in Abuja, Nigeria, by the Chinese government and ECOWAS, according to Nigerian website Ventures. The agreement was signed by the Chinese deputy Trade Minister, Li Jinzao, and ECOWAS representatives. The Dakar-Lagos highway project, linking the capital of Senegal to Nigeria’s financial capital, will pass through Banjul, Bissau, Conakry, Freetown, Monrovia, Abidjan, Accra, Lomé and Cotonou. These capitals currently have no continuous road link, which makes it difficult to distribute goods. |
May the soul of the CP through the mercy of Christ rest in peace. Investigation should start from his family, friends and business partners. Hope there is no family land battle or business deal? |

thierylee: Do we really have to trust and/or use this host site,NAIRALAND?why is it that they tend to block out most of the post from good nigerian whenever they are commenting on delicate state issues from certain national news reports from their own website? Why the provision for comments when the webmaster wouldn't publish most of the minds of nigerian posting them?.what seems to be the problem? Is it that nairaland owners are hypocrits or that they are playing the same wing.Maybe they are afraid that they would incur the animosity of the government when they publish most of critical remarks from good nigerians(critics).Whatever the case maybe,i think nairaland does not deserve the trust of its subscribers(nigerians).I mean why do we waste our time to comment on a site about national issues when our voices will never be heard?Nigerians should please look into this matter because it seems that nairaland does not have the interest of nigerian at heart, but they are exclusively out to make money...that is if they'll publish this post at the first place. You people should boycott this site for www.nigerianbestforum.com where your brother is the moderator and write an uninformed and unintelligently biased view of national issues against your perceived opponents. This will give a cleaner nairanland site for some elites to make comments. |
Nairalanders, There is no offence when some aggrieved and marginalised Nigerians come to Nairaland to vent their angers. You know them on comments on some musicians or author that are/is not aggrieved and marginalised as they are.Whenever anything is written on their fellow, you can see them with best comments. Nigerian best forum (www.nigerianbestforum.com)where their brother is the moderator is there for them. They should leave this forum for matured and objective analysis of issues. When an individual is promoted or eulogised, they are quick to ask where he/she is from. Ideas and objectivity are major trait of a developed mind What is wrong with somebody (female)collapsing at the remeberance arcade? Is defence minister or commander in chief of the armed forces a military career office? I have a Military service experience. How many females are involved in infantry or combantant activities apart from essential services? How many of them are in Iraq or will be going to Mali? Don't worry 2015 is sure |

Nigerians, Somebody in Aviation Ministry must have invested heavily on the Jonathan Project in the countdown to 2011 elections. I can see them using the aviation sector to make money as it was during the military era when aviation ministry was used to siphon money. I am not impressed with the news at all. Already, battles have been intensified to destroy the various private partnership scheme on the ground and return the business to another group or to the Airport Authority for free corruption. Although, I am aware that CBN intervention to the aviation sector running into several billions of naira through some private airlines failed woefully. I know of a major beneficiary airline that has suspended operation. Having said this, I am not in support of government investing in 30 airlines. It is a high level of corruption. It is not done anywhere. All the major national carriers are private public initiative and privately financed. Lowering airline tarrif is for the dummy. With the present tarrif, airlines are finding it very hard to survive and are suspending operations or unable to increase fleet. Who will subsidise the airline tarrif? Another subsidy? Are they returning back to the era of Nigerian Airways and Nigeria National Shipping Lines when these corporations were operated as a public utility companies with government money and government appointed board members who are only members of the rulling class and are only there to make money. Even some NNPC Mega Station sold petrol at above the official price when fuel was scarce. Even if SEA petroleum and gas or some fuel cabal were made to supply aviation fuel to these 30 planes at a subdized price, with government tarmac (not MM2),I doubt at the long run, if the level of corruption will not be monumental. |

Naija, The protest is a wastage of time and energy. The people are just dancing on the magnanimity of the traditional people of Lagos and of the region. This comes to mind the issue of national conference and federalism. Most of those behind this protest are from states outside Lagos or the region.Okadas are even banned in some of those states. Mind you, I am being affected greatly by the ban, but that does not becloud my sense of judgement. Laws in a federating state differ from another state in U.S.A. It is either you abide or move out of the state. I know, it is economic hardship that led many people into this job for survival despite the risk involved. I salute their courage. We are in December, everybody is preparing for Xmas and new year celebration with their kids for those that are married. This period is the worst period for a jobless man. Other people are in festive mood, a jobless family man is in a sorrowful mood. Having said this, this is a Nigeria problem and not Lagos state problem. The bull should be held by the horn by the Okada riders. Okada was banned in Abuja log time ago. I remembered how the okada riders were treated like animals that time.I was living in Abuja as at that time. People use population of Lagos as a criterion, that is not an excuse. Federal Government does not recognize that population, despite the last census figure which does not even represent the true population of Lagos. The population imposes pressure on Lagos facilities and amenities, yet, the federal government has not increased the number of Local government in Lagos to 44 as it is in Kano thereby increasing local government allocation to Lagos from federation account. The best place to carry out protest is at the gate of National Assembly in Abuja or Three arms zone area for the politicians to know what poverty has done to Nigerians. When those making policy are in a clean and quiet hotels or accommodation and you are in Lagos adding to the tension on the ground, they are not concerned. Most of those people in the protest are not fighting for the interest of Lagos, they are only interested in what they get out of Lagos. They are busy lobbying for the creation of more states or more local government for their region or states. They are fighting for increase in derivation or total resource control etc. None of them ever championed Lagos cause. In some states, okadas were banned, nobody has taken their governors to court. They said Lagos is different. What is different about Lagos? In governors forum, Fashola is like any other governor, and Lagos is a state like any other state. If Amaechi, Okorocha and others can ban okada, Fashola can do the same as well, especially if is for the good of the state. Okada should petition Lagos House of Assembly. They cannot do that because lagos house members are after the good of Lagos. A minister or anybody in Abuja without Lagos interest may come up with federal road theory that was not considered when Okada was banned in Abuja with federal roads. |
He told me the will was written by this Lawyer after the death of the old man and after the lawyer was informed of the death of this man. He had regular meeting with the lawyer with one of the deceased children who is in constant touch with the Lawyer. I believe, he had thought the man does not have will only to be told that the will was written by another Lawyer by the man closest confidant. |
I have a simillar situation at hand. Despite affinity to the military, I can not use military because of the rule of law (democracy). The only alternative as known by Nigerians and even the whites that have lived in Nigeria before can not work. The highest bidder, the most connected and the roughest person get their support. We all know them. As for the issue of will, as at the time my father died, I never knew he had such large asset running into billions. I was thinking of asset around 10 million naira. I want all nairalanders to read this post. Like Ojukwu, my grand father was very rich and died intestate, my father was his eldest son. The battle for the control of my grand father's asset was never resolved for decades until my father's death. Few years to his death, he fell sick, it seems some people were aware he may die any time and have started scheming to sell some of his hectares of land located in prime areas. Others made legal arrangement that will back them after his death. I have never thought this man will die suddenly. I loved my dad with my body, soul and spirit, though we have a lot of misunderstanding based on personal principles. My dad had told me some people are using voodoo on him because of his wealth. I was wondering which wealth was he talking about. 10 million naira wealth? or his father's weath? He said the voodoo is keeping me away from him and that he has so many things to tell me. I developed hatred for my father when his eldest son(child) told me several things he did wrong. The man must have died of frustration. He made frantic effort to get in touch with me to no avail. I refused his pleadings to come home and see him. He would call, i will not pick. He sent uncountable text messages, no reply. May his soul rest in peace. I pray that God should forgive me.After his death, so many things happened. I later found out the eldest (son) is the most disloyal, untrustworthy, a dirty deal expert, a betrayal and so on. He confused and persuaded me so that the will should not be read. He tried to create enemity between me and my other brothers by giving me false information while working behind with them. He gave me prior wrong information about the lawyer that wrote the will, where it was written and the content. Finally, the will was read after a long time. I think after some family members have deliberated on it. You know Nigerians, at this point anything can happen to the will. Despite that, I was shocked with the asset the man left behind. The man lived a very modest life.I was even told some of his asset are not listed in the will. I did not know he has up to 10% of what was even written down. All of them know it and have perfected ways even to make the most out of the asset before the will was read. My heart bled after over a year to learn that the eldest child whom I have released few of the core secrets my father told me is a great betrayal and untrustworthy person. I wish I could retrieve those few secrets, or what could have happened if I have told him everything the man told me.He lives in secret riches from money made fron our father's asset. he goes from one court to the other now in Lagos perfecting fake documents to sell some of the assets with collaboration with two of the children and making illegal case. The will is just there now as an ordinary paper. The man does not recognised him in the will even despite efforts at manipulating the will. After all, the will cannot work when items listed have been sold and backdated to when the man was alive. He is working with one or two Lawyers who benefitted immensely from the old man when he was alive. One of the Lawyers even swindled the old man when he was sick prior to his death. These Lawyers are not involved in the will. He once told me the will was written by one of these Lawyers immediately after the death of the old man, only for the close confidant of the old man to come out and say the will was written by another Lawyer. |

I salute his courage. I know how painful it was for him to be denied the performance of rites as a first son. Dim might have been fair to him. Perhaps, he intentionally shields him from problems that may arise after his death. My major concern is this? Why should the elders of the Ojukwu family prevented him from being recognised as a first son? is it because he was very closer to his father? was he on the side of his father as a Lawyer when the father was having a running battle with the family over Louis Ojukwu's property? If the last question was true, he may be prevented from continuing from where his father stopped. The will has made his participation impossible. I am not sure Louis Ojukwu's property is among those willed by DIM because Ojukwu family may not release the property until Loius properties are shared. |
seanet01: Of course it was around 94 or 95. Anyway it could have happened anytime. You have a very good case my brother. You can fight the case if you have a good lawyer. Legallity can not be built on illegality. If your claims are backed with evidences, anybody that purchase a property without verifying their genuineness does so at his own peril. Even if it takes hundred years, once evidence dey, i will fight the case.Bros, I believed you. They know. Even some crooks and lazy people believe in that theory of selling properties illegally only for the rightful owner within the family to proceed to court and obtain possession. By this time, those who bought the property would have to buy it again or forfeit the property. This can take a long process or a life time battle. The eldest child with two other crooks are working with one or two lawyers who have benefitted immensely financially from the old man and even swindled the man when his health was failing. They will all pay dearly for it. Time would tell. |
seanet01: So you believe somebody can deny you what belongs to you using Voodoo? You make me laugh. I remember vividly when some people back home in Nigeria started misbehaving on My Grandpa's 70 Hectares of land at Obafemi Owode, my Father was his father's last born, his seniors were afraid of confronting the villagers because of the believe that they will killed them with voodoo. That can only happen during military rule. I have a simillar situation at hand. Despite affinity to the military, I can not use military because of the rule of law (democracy). Ricky_Ross: If anyone from Igboland makes such statement he will be banned but we know suen and his modaratos are tribalistic bigoted foools.Anytime a comment is made on anything related to this people, they are always quick to bring sentiment to the discussion. No matter how you described a spiritually empowered tribe, you are only working against yourself. In nigeria and overseas, the dirtiest tribe as named by marginalised people is a power broking tribe recognised worldwide in academia, international business and culture. The religion, the language, the culture cannot go into extinction and will forever be celebrated. It is spiritual, you can not understand. Forget tribalism, follow objectivity or go to Nigeria Best Forum where your kinsman is the moderator and continue to write sentiment instead of objectivity. |

The government should have given the reason for her sack. I am very glad that the marginalised group in Nairaland that always complain or suspect an attack on them has not made any statement in that direction, may be she is not one of them. The 5% FG share in Eleme petrochemical plant was not her decision as the council on privatization is the only body vested with that power. Nobody can approve the sale of government share without the head of government. In Nigeria, a director representing federal government with 5% share can be more powerful than the remaining private investors with 95% in an enterprise because he wields more political power than all of them. He represents government. He can be a threat to the board in a very sensitive enterprise. Manitoba, former minister of power geometric submission and all the privatization carried out before her that was evaluated by the senate committee did not have direct consequence on her sole responsibility. The recommendation of reversal of some of those privatised entities was to allow for the creation of boards, appointments and funding by the government. It is a way of corruption.Jobs to be created will only be temporary, except government continues to pump money by sacking board and reconstitute a new one. Aruma Oteh should be very lucky. I think Capt. Harold Demuren is just waiting by luck for the expiration of his tenure having been penalised also by a senate committee after the Dana Air Crash after a very meritorious service in the aviation sector both in Private capacity and when called upon to serve at a very critical period some years back. |

Firstly, I like Ifeanyi Ubah. I am in love with him because of his humility having watched him narrating his ordeal on Channels TV. He is a very humble person, I know those presenters and some viewers would have noticed that. Secondly, he must have been annoyed when he said is it from his pure water business that he assisted him? He was referring to Coscharis. To millions of Nigerians watching that episode that morning some days ago, they never knew what that statement meant, except for few people. It is an insult to chief maduka. Some years back, Coscharis was producing pure water sachet being sold at N5/sachet.By then,I was thiniking, with Abro products, investment in IT technology, automobiles and others, why would coscharis ventured into pure water not even bottled water. I know chief wanted to make a statement.Ubah should not have used pure water to belittle the business empire built over the years by chief maduka. I pray for him to recover. He will recover back. Acquiring fixed asset with short term loans to be used as collaterals for another loan is a bad business strategy. Also, some nigerians that are heavily indebited locally but investing abroad in order to escape abroad or survive with investment offshore after liquidation of asset in Nigeria are not helping matters. I know Ubah will never do this from his narration on channels TV. He valued his name and that of his family and that of his humble background. Finally, on nairaland and other nigeria social media, there are group of people that will always tribalise any issue ranging from views on muscians, politicians and other individuals. They see a particular tribe as the source of their problems. Nigeria cannot grow like this. |

I have nothing against the good gesture to Niger republic. During Abacha regime, Niger and Chad benefitted from a lot grants that can comfortably solve a lot of problems here. In fact,he has deep feeling for them as if they were part of Nigeria. having said that, I was at a village in Oyo state last month and I saw immigration officials harrassing some illegal immigrants from Benin and Togo Republics over registration of illegal immigrants in that area (Akinyele). Nearby, less than 30 metres there is a large goat market, less than 200 metres, there is a very large cow market. I asked one of the immigration officials why they cannot go there to register the citizen of Niger and Chad republics, he said they act on information and visual identification. It is very difficult for them to use these factors to identify them. Moreover, our nothern brothers will never assit them in those markets. Personally I noticed the situation is not the same when it comes to Benin, Togo and Ghana |
This story is very untrue. Nigeria Army is a well trained and disciplined force in Africa. Though, this story will bring more sanity into the military. Also, a ghanaian army calling Nigerian soldiers undisciplined is not a serious person. You cannot send Nigerian Soldiers into frontline duty in Mali without enough intelligence report, current situation report and adequate preparation.Dislodgement of force operating in a familiar terrain is a tactical operation. If Nigeria Army is not disciplined, then a discipline ghanaian army should go to mali to repel the forces on ground in Nothern Mali. |
All those comments are just what they feel about Dbanj. That does not stop millions of his admirers from appreciating him. They may hate him. If this type of comments are made on their favourites, some of them will term it tribal sentiments as it is always the case here especially by those people - we know them |
There is a serious problem in Nigeria,if government officials can deny the existence of pot-holes on 3rd Mainland Bridge passed daily by thousands of Nigerians. I was on that bridge a day before it was reopened and everyday since it was declared opened. I was shocked at the level of satisfaction displayed by the Honourable Minister of works, an Architect by profession. I am an engineer, I wonder why the Nigerian Society of engineers and COREN have not complained about the repairs done. Somebody told me it might not be a comprehensive maintenance contract. The contractor has completed the terms of reference given to them, that is why FERMA and the Minister accepted the certificate of completion. Pot holes are there even when it was reopened. Hopefully, the pot-holes will be filled. |
