SUMMARY OF MY VISA APPLICATION PROCESS I had issues using my Stanbic Master Card in making online payments. I had thought it would be straightforward and that once the 28days waiting period was up, i would make the IHS and VISA fee payment without breaking a sweat. Well my card kept telling me the information i supplied online was wrong, i called the contact center, visited my branch but they couldn't resolve the issue. I was hoping to book an appointment for the 22nd of December 2015 but i couldn't as a result of this issue. Two things i learnt. 1. Be proactive, always think ahead and envisage hitches 2. Never leave things till the last minute. At the same time i am grateful i didn't book an appointment on the 22nd of December because the only available TLS center for that date was VI and i probably won't have used the priority service. Well that and another reason you would find out shortly. So i finally paid my IHS and VISA fees with the help of my younger sisters Fidelity bank card while my uncle assisted in making the application fee payment and priority fee payment. I booked my appointment for the 29th of December 2015 at the Ikeja TLS center. I got all my docs ready and on the main day i left early. Got there 2hours earlier which actually was a life saver at the end of the day. So on getting there i was approached by some guys asking me if i wanted to take the visa passport photographs. I smiled and told them i had already. He asked to see them and i showed him. He immediately told that they wouldnt accept it because the background was grey. I was shocked because i had read on the UKBA site that the background should be either grey or cream. I took another set of 8 for N1000 with white background. Things were quite expensive there because of the urgency and importance attached to anything relating to visa application. I also had to print the 9 pages TIER4 APPENDIX 8 SELF-ASSESSMENT form i had no clue about. I printed 9 pages for N1400. Thank God i got there earlier as i had to take time to fill the form. This form can be downloaded online for those who would apply in the future so you don't end up spending that much and giving yourself undue pressure at the TLS center. Just simply google it. For those who would use the priority service in the future, when you visit the TLS site make sure you start from the homepage so you can select your country and the TLS center where you booked an appointment on the VISA4U website. For example If you make a wrong choice like paying under IKEJA TLS center instead of VI TLS center, you would have to forfeit the money you paid and you wouldn't be given the priority service. chilez:you didn't get me. January wont be far after i count 28days from today. so i need to know how to go about priority before then. my start date is 11 January. |
@1step2right and chilez Thanks a bunch for your replies, they have really been helpful. I have been able to get the maintenance funds into my account today after some bank iss. so unfortunately i have to begin the 28 days count. Kindly confirm which day would be okay to confirm my visa application and make payments. Also i would have to use the priority service and i do not want to make a mistake, cos i read somewhere that i cannot apply for priority once i have submitted my application. How do i go about this? Thanks guys |
@ Chilez, 1step2right and justwise Thanks for being so helpful. 1. So for the bank statement i would have to use either my account or parents account and wait for 28days before clicking "Confirm Application " . Or is it after making IHS, Visa payments and booking an appointment? 2. Also can i show statement from a fixed deposit or do i have to move the funds to a current or savings account? 3. I have paid part of my school fees , so can i deduct the amount from the total amount that i have to show in the bank statement? |
@ Chilez and justwise About wrapping up my application. Just a few more questions. Just dont want any errors. 1. I set my arrival date as 2nd January. Hope this doesnt mean i can't travel b4 that date once i get my visa? 2. There is a part on the Tier 4 section where it says " please provide details on how you have been accessed as a sponsor" 3. My elder sister is sponsoring me, would it be right to use her bann statements or do i have to move funds. Plus she is based in the uk |
justwise:Thank you so much ![]() |
chilez:Thank you so much. I have started filling my application but i have a few questions to ask you. 1. "Is this your ist passport" - Here i said no, cos i had the old Nigerian passport while i was still little but i never used it to travel. Although my visiting visa application was turned down back then. Am i right to say no and enter the passport details? 2. "How long do yo intend to stay in the uk." - My program is a year, although i saw on the Ukba site that one could stay 4months after the course end date. So what do i fill here? 3. "Whats the name of your sponsor?" - is this referring to my sponsor (i.e parent /guardian ) or the university? 4. There is a part under the TIER 4 STUDENT, that has this; "Confirm the following options " -studying -undertaking a post as a sabbatical officer -undertaking a foundation programme as a postgradaute doctor or dentist Which of the options do i pick? 5."Do you have established presence in the uk " What do i fill here ? 6. "Do you receive support from a financial sponsor that meets the uk visa and immigration definition of a financial sponsor. 7. Maintenance fee - This is supposed to be how much? 8. Total points you are claiming - this means what? Cc justwise |
chilez:One more thing, once am done filling the application form can i save without having to make any payment immediately. Also can my elder sis make the payment on my behalf from the UK? For both Ihs and Visa Cc Justwise |
chilez:Good Morning Chilez, thanks for the info. Also did you make your application via the UKBA website or TLS website. I saw the info on the IHS payment £150. Did you pay for that first before you continued your application? |
1step2right:Mine is 11th January. When are you starting your Visa application process? @chilez what school r u going to. Give me tips on how you got urs done pretty fast. (Visa app) |
justwise:Ok thank you. Anything i need to keep in mind before i start filling the form. Cos i heard i have to complete it once i start. |
@justwise i just got my CAS yesterday from coventry. I have been reading all the visa application procedures. How exactly do i start my application. Do i register on the TLS website first or just go through the UKBA website and click "start now "? My late enrollment date is 25 January 2016 and mt start date is 11 January 2016.
