Do good to check out The Real Deeper Life Gist.

Here are some excerpt.
Toni is just one out of many Deeper Lifers who the church have refused, because they couldn’t shrink him into their narrow-minded standards. Unlike Toni who was wise enough to think independently from Deeper Life and make a way for himself, many have sacrificed their talents and genius on the alter of Deeper Life standards and have allowed themselves to be shrinked into an insignificant mote, who is serving God (that is Pastor Kumuyi) and on their way to heaven.

They(Deeper Life leaders) usually emphasize to the young generations especially, “if your right hand offends you, chop it off; if your talents will stand in the way of your prigrimage to heaven, cast it aside.” The interpretation meaning, if there is no place for your type of talents in the standards of Deeper Life then it’s a barrier to your road to heaven and you should cast it aside to follow Jesus (…and we already know who they mean by Jesus).

You see, the average Deeper Lifer is taught to believe that being born again is not enough. You're not a complete Christian yet, though you already have the primary certificate to enter heaven. They believe you must be Sanctified next and then baptised in the Holy spirit. Sanctified? Yes, they define it as the uprooting of the Adamic nature and the instilling of Divine nature. Word salad? (Lol)No. That means your basic human or animalistic nature will suddenly disappear in a moment and you will find it hard to sin again.
As unrealistic as this doctrine sounds, that's not all. They believe that if you're truly sanctified, conforming to their Deeper Life standards should be the next thing. You would not want to put on make up again or wear trousers, and you will throw all your expensive gold necklace and jewelleries you bought from Dubai and America or Europe, away into the dustbin.

Today's update on The Real Deeper gist is on dressing.
Check out the full page on

https://trdlg.

Here are some excerpt.

You will see a 16 year old dressing up like a married 38 year old woman, who has had all the children she wants in this world.

Most of these girls are so self conscious in their dressings, to avoid trouble from these women, when preparing to go to church, that their dressing eventually ends up looking really ridiculous.
But that’s what all those mummies love, someone that looks and dress as ridiculous as them. You can almost compare these mummies to the SARS that have been troubling Nigerian youths. Whole they don’t have sophisticated physical weapons like guns or matchet, their words(emotionally manipulative or denigrative words) and stern demeanours are utilised to mould the young budding Deeper Life girl into compliance.

And yes, they don’t like it when someone looks really good or too good in a dress. It’s a distraction, they’ll usually say. They paint confirming to their imperial standard as ‘decency’, using the scriptures that states let your moderation be known unto all men. As long as the moderation is within the confines of their doctrine.

Brainwashing: The Deeper Life style

For more info

Thomas(not real name) is a final year law student in a federal University in Nigeria. His parents are Deeper Lifers and are committed workers in the church. When Thomas gained admission to the university, he had to leave home to his University’s state and was seriously compelled by his parents to remain in Deeper Life (like any Deeper Life parents will do.) In fact, his mother followed him all the way from their state to his University’s state to ensure her son is in the right hands, and by right hands they mean Deeper Lifers.

Now personally, I see nothing wrong with sticking with people you believe are predictable to some certain extent or you’re familiar with. But forcing, or manipulating your children to remain in thesame circle you’re been familiar with for years, even to the university level is just off.

Now eventually, this guy stopped going to Deeper Life. I don’t know if it’s school or his new environment that tore is eyes open, but he got tired of the whole thing, though, I doubt his parents are informed of his decision yet.

Anyways, what do I want to bring out of this. Dare said something that stuck with me till today about his parents. He said they’ve been living in poverty for years and have being looking up to God for a change in that status. As they prayed about this issue, they also believed as they were told by the church that if they dedicate their time to the church’s work, miracles will happen to them. Now they did have their secular work; they have their business and all. But they are not as dedicated to their secular works as they were to the church work. And so, what happened? The poverty refuse to go anywhere, but the dedication to the church work continues, because they believe their miracles are still coming.

And now, they are passing that mindset to their children, a mindset that Thomas refuses to accept and has rebelled against.
Some young Deeper Life people will read this and say, woaw, this is my family! Why? Because there are so many people whose success have been passively abandoned because of their dedication to the church and not their academics, their families or business. There are close relatives I know who have refuse to start a lucrative business when they should because they have to go to Monday Bible study, Tuesday Leaders Meeting, Wednesday evangelism, Thursday revival hour, Friday prayer meeting (optional sometimes), Saturday’s worker’s meeting and Sunday Service in the morning and House caring fellowship in the evening.
Now, I’m not saying there is no successful business owner in Deeper Life, there are quite a number of those. But most of them remain members or at least workers because these full time weekly service will not serve as an advantage to their business or family life.
In the past, it was a little more serious than this. Children of leaders, whose parents are more occupied with Church work and getting to heaven than their offstrings, become rebels, perverts or worse. Kumuyi spoke on this and somethings were moderated. But not all things.
The Deeper Life style is majorly isolation and overexposure, isolation with very ascetic dogma and Creeds and overexposure to the words of Kumuyi only.

After completing the 6 days weekly service for a year, the period were members could spend time with their families and friends in December or Christmas is used for the December retreat, far, far away from home. Sometimes, Christmas is passed on in this isolated location. Christmas is forbidden before, so, only programs in the Deeper Life Retreat is allowed.
There is even a retreat for Easter too, and you guessed it right, no other better time for that than it taking place during the Easter celebrations. And so again, less time with family or other important things in their lives, and more time with Pastor Kumuyi.

I think I mentioned in my past write up that Pastor Kumuyi monitors every topic and service to be held. I didn’t? Oya open your ear. All the message that will be preached either by Pastor Kumuyi or his hierarchies of Pastors already have their topics written down and approved by Kumuyi. So on a Thursday revival service where the Pastor of the Deeper life district church is allowed to preach, for instance, he is only basically representing Pastor Kumuyi, as the topics and sometimes points he will make has been written down and approved from the headquarters Church in Lagos. So the message preached in Deeper Life Abeokuta church is thesame one preached in Ado Ekiti Church, on thesame service day, at thesame time, and they dare not divert from the theme of the message, else they will be Disciplined, like Kumuyi was in the Apostolic Faith Church.

When Kumuyi is preaching in Lagos, anytime, even on days that are not usually service days, all Deeper Lifers all around Nigeria must(a big MUST) connect to it life. If something happens to the transmission, they’ll pray and go home, the service can’t continue without Kumuyi. And no, Deeper Life does not approve of inviting any other Pastor from a different denomination to preach in their church.

Infact, I believe this is the strangest of all, and most Deeper Life members may not know this but their leaders should. When you go to some Deeper Life Churches, you should find at least one empty chair with the sits reserved for pastors. Guess what the chair represent? Pastor Kumuyi’s presence. The empty chair is waiting for the day Kumuyi will visit the church, when he does, his special(long waiting) chair will be given to him.

So these people will spend most of the periods of their lives in Church, feeding directly from Kumuyi’s mouth and thoughts only, for what? Heaven at last, with Pastor Kumuyi and the angels in heaven singing the songs from the purple Deeper Life hymnal booklet.

Have you wondered were the particular dressing style of Deeper Life came from?

Kobojunkie:
Aren't you the very same who claimed, in one of your posts on this, that old deeper life teachings where closer to the teachings of God in the Bible? Now you suggest it was close to Coca-Cola's ideals? undecided

Clearly, I am not the one. Visiting the blog site should give you more insight on my views past and present. These are just excerpt written down, so the conclusions drawn from these could be really wrong.

...This will come as a big surprise to many, but old Deeper Lifers will know this already. Do you know that in the early days of Deeper Life, Pastors in the Church, with the approval of Pastor Kumuyi 'signed up' with Coca-Cola to learn their secret concepts of taking over the world. Well, if you didn't know, now you do. It's a smart move if you ask me, but it's implications are still telling on the Deeper Life Church till today.

Not holy cult, religious cult. Most large churches in Nigeria are.
I like the word holy best, because of the name DL love to attribute themselves with. You're right with that correction. But I'm just sarcastic with those words
Religion / Deeper Life. A Holy Cult? Young W.f Vs Old W.f by TRDLG01: 6:01pm On Jan 15, 2021
...The young Pastor Kumuyi like the old Kumuyi speaks with so much passion, but his message had some sort of down to earth nature to it that could easily make people connect both to the message and the personality speaking the message.

In the Kumuyi’s past messages I have listened to, the Creed’s and dogmas were not as exhaulted as the passion in his heart. He spoke from a place of freedom and clear conscience. It was like he was more concerned about shinning the light and knowledge he had acquired into people’s minds and heart.
But the old Pastor Kumuyi is much more composed. Speaks passionately only from dogmas and Creed’s allowed by the church, using mostly literal interpretation of the Bible over and over again. Deeper life people call this mostly literal interpretation of Kumuyi the undiluted word of God.

Whatever that mean, I hope we all know, if not from history at least in this present times that literal interpretation of the Bible could be, if not very dangerous, misleading and could be easily misapplied. But Deeper Lifers don’t have to worry about that since Pastor Kumuyi’s got all the knowledge they will ever need. His interpretation of the Bible is seen firstly as valid and then anyone else who interpreted the Bible like him...

Here is another update on Deeper Life: a Holy cult. I'll post some excerpt but you should visit the site yourself to read the full detail

https://trdlg.

People do say Deeper Life refuse to conform to the changes of the modern world, and keep itself unique and chaste all the way. But the reality is this, Deeper life have refused to grow beyond it’s predecessor’s influence. The church has chosen the certainty of its early years due to the fears of change of the modern times and the chaos it could bring. It has refused to move beyond 1973. Yes, the Deeper Life Church is still stuck in 1973, and slowly before, but faster nowadays it is isolating itself from the real world, not keeping itself unique.

If you go to a Deeper Life Church, you must at least hear the phrase ‘Heaven is our home.’ Or ‘Heaven is the goal.’

The real world doesn’t match the mastered Creed’s and dogmas Deeper Lifers have yoked themselves with. Therefore, their major ambition is to get into a world outside this earth were everything will be Holy, pure, stainless and uniform as it is in their church.

But for some excerpt. Here you go.

They are so easy to recognise, are they not? Those deeper life people. Always remaining inflexible in their beliefs and refusing to let anyone bend them out of it. People react to deeper Lifers differently; some get irritated by their insistence on lack of taste, others get challenged by them-they are so different they stand out proudly- while the rest don't give a damn. It's a free world, isn't it? Everybody can do whatever they like. Maybe it is a free world for you, reader, who grew up perhaps in a different denomination, religion or no religion at all. But for the average deeper life member, it is not a free world. You must have always suspected it; beneath all these façade of being born again and convincing the world to be born again (physically especially), there is something unsavoury going on beneath.
They all act the same way, dress the same way, confess the same convictions, etc. How did Kumuyi do it? How did he organise people so uniformly and cooperatively, especially in this jaga-jaga Nigeria we live in? He must be a very smart man and a true servant of God. I can't argue that. This write-up is not meant to dispute if Pastor W.F Kumuyi's calling is real or fake. I'm always careful in handling or criticising matters of religion because like most people do, they either throw away the baby with the dirty bath water or they insist on keeping the baby in the dirty bath water altogether. What I'm here to do is in fact to thoroughly, as much as I can, separate both the baby and the dirty bath water and get rid of that dirty water.
I have about 20+ topics on this issue to validate my points and I won't let much of my experience in deeper life get in the way, because I have several stories of many deeper life members that have been crushed under the deeper life system. And as I write, some, if not most of these people, are still stuck in the church because like a cult, a set of emotionally manipulative narratives have been forged into their minds never to leave. They dare not.
Now I know most of you will say, "cult ke?" That's too strong a word to use for a church whose members are the meekest people on earth. For such argument I'll reply to it this way: if you mean meek from the dictionary definition, then, yes- to some extent- deeper Lifers are meek. But if you mean the Biblical meekness, then we have some theological strings to untangle, which this blog is clearly not created for. But for those interested in the meat of the matter, it's just as I said it. A holy cult. And I don't mince words when I say this. the line between a denomination and a holy cult is so narrow it could be easily breached anytime, especially unconsciously by the leader at the very top. If you know any deeper life member very well, or you are a member, there are twelve patterns listed below. Look through and tell me the percentage the deeper life Church or its members score in this test.
- the group (Church) displays excessive zealous and unquestioning commitment to its leader and regards his belief system, ideology, practices as the Truth, or as law or personal conviction.
- Questioning, doubt, and dissent are discouraged or even punished.
- the leadership dictates, sometimes in great details how members should think, act, and feel (e.g members must get permission to date, change jobs, or marry. Or leaders prescribe what to wear, where to live, whether to have children, how to discipline children, and so forth.)
- the group (Church) is elitist. Claiming a special, exalted status for itself, its leader(s), and its members.
- the group (Church) has a polarised us-versus-them mentality, which may cause conflict or friction with the wider society.
- the Leadership induces feelings of shame and/or guilt in order to influence and control members. Often this is done through peer pressure and subtle forms of persuasion.
- Members are expected to devote inordinate amounts of time to the group (church) and its related activities.
- Members are encouraged or required to live and/or socialise only or mostly with their groups(Church ) members.
- the most loyal members ('the true believers') feel there can be no life outside the context of the group (church). They believe there is no other way to be, and often fear reprisal to themselves or others if they leave or even consider leaving the group (Church).
- There is a leader who appears to be the ultimate authority, spokespersons. His/Her views are hardly or never challenged by others. And his/her opinions are readily accepted without question.
- Only one point of view is presented in the group (church). Hardly or never are any other points of views recognised or seen as valid.
- the attitude of the followers to its leaders is total submission and compliance; there is hardly any check and balance.
These features are gotten from cultresearch.org. These are the features you find in a cult. For a holy cult, it won't appear to be obvious on the surface, but if you move beyond the surface to its underneath like I've done, you'll see it clearly-all these features and more.
For those who will argue that other denominations in Nigeria also have these traits, so deeper life is no different from them; well...
If you want information about other denominational systems, this is not the blog for you, maybe someone will do that in future. This blog focuses on deeper life doctrines and deeper life's alone.

I saw a topic on the 28 of September in Nairaland about a deeper life member who claimed DL was a cult. Here is a more elaborate view on that topic. It's a blog actually, by an ex-leader of the church. I'll like you guys to check it out. Here is the link
