Fresh from suffering Champions League semi-final heartache, Manchester City will resume their Premier League campaign against Newcastle United on Sunday afternoon. The Citizens recorded a 4-3 victory over Real Madrid in the first leg at the Etihad Stadium last week but lost 3-1 in the second leg on Wednesday to suffer a 6-5 aggregate defeat at Bernabeu. Pep Guardiola's side ran out 4-0 winners over Leeds United in the Premier League last weekend, though, which left them one point clear of second-placed Liverpool at the summit. |

t was learnt that the explosion occurred in the early hours of Wednesday at the facility operated by Addax Petroleum Development Nigeria Limited. No fewer than two persons have been killed by an explosion at a flow station in the oil-producing community of Izombe in the Oguta Local Government Area of Imo State. It was learnt that the explosion occurred in the early hours of Wednesday at the facility operated by Addax Petroleum Development Nigeria Limited. Confirming the incident, the Police Public Relations Officer in Imo, Micheal Abattam, said that the Commissioner of Police immediately drafted the command’s anti-bomb unit, as well as some operatives of the command to the area to prevent any breakdown of law and order. The eyewitness explained that the victims were trying to find their way into the flow station through the entrance when the bomb exploded and killed them. Addax Petroleum is one of the two oil companies located in the Izombe community. In recent times, the community has been a hotbed of insecurity and violence. The most recent is the clash between some youths in the area and officials of the Nigeria Army which left many dead and several houses destroyed. http://saharareporters.com/2022/05/04/two-killed-suspected-bomb-attack-imo-state-oil-facility |

God will console and comfort the Adeboyes and RCCG. Pastor PDO was very amiable! Lalasticlala, one year already, this life! |
Leke, son of the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Pastor Enoch Adeboye, on Wednesday, wrote a tribute to mark the first anniversary of the death of his elder brother, Dare. Taking to his Instagram status, Leke uploaded the photo of Dare with the caption, “One-year remembrance, with love from Leke Adeboye”. Dare, the third child of the revered cleric, died on May 4, 2021, in Eket, Akwa Ibom State, where he was based with his family. Married to Temiloluwa, the deceased was father to three daughters and the Assistant Pastor in charge of Region (Youth) 35 before his death. During the April 2022 Holy Ghost Service of the church, 80-year-old Adeboye recounted how he got over his “deep sorrow” caused by the death of Dare. According to the octogenarian preacher, a text message from one of his spiritual daughters turned the tide following the death of his 42-year-old son in 2021. Adeboye had also stressed that God loves him despite the loss of his son. He had said, “When I lost my son last year (2021), then I was deeply in sorrow, I got a text (message) from one of my (spiritual) daughters that suddenly turned the tide. What she wrote was simply this: Daddy, let God carry you.” The PUNCH had earlier reported that RCCG took disciplinary measures against Leke last month for labelling some pastors in the mission ‘goats’. Leke had accused the pastors of preaching after his dad’s sermon, as all parishes of the church weren’t supposed to entertain any sermon on first Sundays after the GO’s sermon was broadcast live. Leke subsequently apologised and craved the forgiveness of the pastors, saying his statement was not intended to insult or malign them. Adeboye, who has been married to his wife, Folu, for over 50 years, has been RCCG’s general overseer for over 40 years. The couple birthed four biological children including Dare and Leke. https://punchng.com/leke-adeboye-pays-tribute-to-brother-one-year-after-death/

AFC Bournemouth have been promoted back to the Premier League for the 2022/23 season, securing automatic promotion after a two-year absence. Scott Parker's side secured their top-flight place on Tuesday with Kieffer Moore's late goal securing a 1-0 home win over third-placed Nottingham Forest, who will now seek promotion themselves through the Championship playoffs. AFC Bournemouth spent five seasons in the Premier League between 2015/16 and 2019/20, having their best campaign in 2016/17 when they finished ninth. They missed out on an immediate return last season, but Parker was appointed head coach last summer and has taken the club back up in his first season in charge. The Cherries were unbeaten in their first 15 league matches, and over the course of the campaign they have suffered fewer defeats than Championship winners Fulham. Dominic Solanke has played a key role, with the former Liverpool striker featuring in every league match this season and scoring 29 goals, adding seven assists. Nathaniel Phillips has also excelled during his time on loan from the Reds, whilst former Chelsea captain Gary Cahill also played his part having featured 22 times this season. Who will complete the group? With the two automatic promotion places sealed, the remaining promotion hopefuls will battle through the Championship playoffs to take the third and final spot in the Premier League. Nottingham Forest and Huddersfield Town are guaranteed to finish in the top six and take place in the end-of-season competition. Sheffield United and Luton Town occupy the fifth and sixth places, but could be overtaken by Middlesbrough and Millwall on the final day, this Saturday. The playoff final will be held at Wembley Stadium on Sunday 29 May. |

The Anambra State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party screening committee has cleared its candidate in the November 6, 2021, governorship election, Valentine Ozigbo, for the party’s primaries ahead of the senatorial election in 2023. Ozigbo is contesting the Anambra South Senatorial District seat in the National Assembly. This was contained in the report of the five-man screening committee held on April 27. The report which was signed by SKE Udeh Okoye and other members of the committee indicated that Uche Ekwunife and Stella Oduah, both sitting Senators, were also cleared. Other members of the screening committee were the Secretary, Eddy Izondu, Dr Angela Mba, Dr Innocent Nwankwo, and Alhaji Rukayat Ibrahim. Others cleared were Chief Chris Ubah, Ezebiakwa Peace, Tony Nwoye, John Emeka and Obinna Uzoh. Chuma Nzeribe was the only aspirant disqualified out of the nine screened from Anambra. The Committee said Nzeribe, a former Senator, was disqualified on the grounds of being declared wanted by existing court order and denial that he had not been tried by any court of law. It said Nzeribe misled the party by not declaring his status in the eyes of the law and as a man who jumped bail and was declared wanted. “We have, in our possession, a Court Order in Charge No. CR/791/2020, between FRN v. Hon. Chuma Nzeribe, before Hon. Justice Y. Halilu. “On December 17, 2020, Hon. Chuman Nzeribe was admitted to bail, after he pleaded not guilty to the charges on December 16, 2020. He subsequently breached the bail terms and jumped bail,” the party stated. https://punchng.com/pdp-clears-ozigbo-oduah-others-for-anambra-senatorial-seats/ |
