@NAIRATREND.COM.NG A Second Republic House of Representatives member, Dr. Junaid Mohammed, has described President Muhammadu Buhari’s boast that his party, the All Progressives Congress, APC, would win the 2019 elections as empty. Mohammed was reacting to a statement by the Senior Special Assistant to Buhari Garba Shehu in Abuja on Friday, where the President was quoted to have said that the APC will win the 2019 general elections. The former lawmaker said the people should be allowed to cast their votes and not to be bought with money as witnessed in recent elections. “The boast as far as I am concerned, the man Buhari is not a democrat and he is incapable of learning to become one,” he told the Punch. “I sincerely hope that the 2019 elections come and happen the way normal elections should hold because if what we saw happen in Ondo, Ekiti and the last three Senatorial bye elections in Katsina, Kogi, and Bauchi is what they refer to as an election, then I doubt if we are going to have an election worth its name. “If we call it an election because people have gone to vote and there was no too much violence, but a humongous amount of money was doled out to voters in exchange for their ballots; will the election be worth anything? I doubt.” GIST VIA - https://nairatrend.com.ng/2019-buhari-may-not-allow-nigerians-vote-during-elections-junaid-mohammed/

@NAIRATREND.COM.NG A human rights group, Campaign for Democracy (CD) has frowned at the proposed relaunch of the third round of Operation Python Dance, also known as Operation Python Dance III by the Nigeria Army in the South-East region. CD alleged that the planed operation was another ploy to unjustifiably kill defenceless Igbo youths. National Publicity Secretary of CD, Dede Uzor A. Uzor said in a statement that another Operation Python Dance in Igboland where there was no crisis amounted to a deliberate plot to provoke Igbo and slaughter their youths. According to him, the exercises also showed the incompetence of the Nigerian military in handling the internal affairs of the country, adding that the military in Nigeria had come of age and should have a paradigm shift from “physicalism” to intelligence gathering and undercover operations. “To announce to the whole world that you will be having Operation Python Dance or Snake Dance is to say the least, letting the cat out of the bag as such activities would definitely bring the military in direct confrontation with the civilian populace who they are supposed to protect. “Previous outings of this operation have resulted in huge casualties of civilians. There have been instances where military might may have been required but where they failed woefully. The resources they are trying to put on ground for this Operation Python Dance III, if channeled to the flashpoints of the country, where the Fulani herdsmen and Boko Haram sects are wreaking havoc, would send a nunc dimitis to the sects and get them eradicated. “It will amount to adding salt to injury for the military to come to the South East under the guise of Operation Python Dance III where the population is already saturated with heavy police presence at peace time. So, it will be superfluous for the military to add their presence in the South East and also very provocative. “Since people are still recovering from the effects of the military/IPOB skirmishes in the recent past, my candid advice is for the military to allow the sleeping dog lie and to take their might to where it is needed in the North East and Middle Belt sections of Nigeria,” he said. @NAIRATREND.COM.NG Real Madrid recorded their lowest LaLiga attendance in their 2-0 win over Getafe on Sunday night. Goals from Dani Carvajal and Gareth Bale against Getafe got Julen Lopetegui’s side off to the perfect start in the 2018/2019 season. But the lack of home fans was as conspicious as the absence of their former talisman. Just 48,466 people showed up for the first home game of the season. The last time Real played in front of such a paltry Santiago Bernabeu crowd, was the final home game of the 2008/2009 season, which came during a five-game losing streak that was started by the historic 6-2 Clasico defeat to Pep Guardiola’s Barcelona. It was after that season, Los Blancos broke the world transfer record, to sign Cristiano Ronaldo from Manchester United. With Ronaldo now gone to Juventus, fans failed to turn up for Madrid’s first game of the season, with the five-time Ballon d’Or winner’s shadow cast large over the empty seats in the stadium. @NAIRATREND.COM.NG Popular Juju musician, Mr Yinka Ayefela has reacted to the demolition of his Music House building by the Oyo State government It was earlier reported the state government marked the structure located on the Challenge-Toll Gate road for demolition for allegedly contravening the state’s planning laws.
