@NAIRATREND.COM.NG A retired Nigerian Judge of the International Court of Justice (ICJ) at The Hague in Netherlands, is thanking God for strengthening him to make his students score straight 'A's in Mathematics. Ajibola with the outgoing students A former Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Prince Bola Ajibola (SAN), is celebrating the students of one of the educational establishments founded by him for their excellent performance at the latest edition of the Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE) conducted by the West African Examinations Council (WAEC). According to Vanguard, Ajibola, a retired Judge of the International Court of Justice (ICJ) at The Hague, Kingdom of Netherlands, is thanking God for strengthening him to make the IMA International Model College happen. According to him, all the 35 students from the school who sat for the African standard examination scored A1 in mathematics. The new development which, he said, is not new to the school, however, came with added excellence this year. The students’ achievement appears to be a further proof of Allah’s acceptance of the strides of the global figure who served as Minister for over six years without taking salary. It will be recalled that the Crescent University Abeokuta (CUAB), which is the peak of the educational establishments founded by the Olori Omo Oba of Owu Kingdom, Abeokuta, is, today, one of the leading private universities in Nigeria. CUAB is also known as the ‘Citadel of moral and academic excellence’. At a ceremony held in the premises of Islamic Mission for Africa (IMA), Abeokuta, the 84-year-old legal luminary gave details of how the latest academic success of ‘his children’ at the IMA International Model College gladdened his heart. Ajibola said: “What I saw and heard on Thursday, July 26, 2018 concerning our outgoing students at IMA International Model College not only amazed me but also gave me the impression that these students are among the best all over Nigeria if not in Africa. They performed wonders in their dedication and diligence in many ways. “Before the final examination (SSCE), they unanimously took a decision to fast for seven days which they completed with prayers. God Almighty answered their prayers because all the 35 students passed their SSCE. Besides, none of these students failed in mathematics”. The founder went on, “In fact, they all got A1. The most incredible of this is that one them who sat for further mathematics also scored A1. They all did well in physics, biology and chemistry scoring credit. They performed wonders in cultural display and deep Islamic lectures. In science, they performed an experiment that really went beyond my imagination. "They were able to produce electricity and, in fact, light out of wired electrode and we noticed electrical light patently coming out of the wired lemon seeds which was about 20. On culture, two of them came out to give a wonderful performance in EWI which was done to the acclamation of all the guests in the hall. "Before the program even started, one of them continued to recite from the holy Quran virtually endlessly. He had memorised virtually a large part of the holy Quran. “One of the parents who showered gifts on the students testified that his daughter that attended IMA International Model College was given a scholarship and she is now doing excellently well at Crescent University”. A statement by the management said, “The college had recorded 100% success twice in the SSCE in the past. However, the uniqueness of this year’s result is the near impossible feat of A1 parallel recorded by products of the school in mathematics.” Opeyemi Jimoh, IMA college maths teacher, whose all 35 students scored A1, is a holder of bachelor’s and master’s degrees in mechanical engineering from Ladoke Akintola University of Technology and University of Ibadan. The erudite mathematics teacher, Jimoh, said, “Mathematics is not a difficult subject; it is the methodology of many teachers and delivery that pose problems.” He emphasized that the fear appeal by many mathematics teachers makes students dread the subject and causes victims to, later in their lives, have career switch from mathematics’ related subjects. “A mathematics teacher should cultivate his or her students to be his friends,” Jimoh stated. On the secret behind his success, the teacher explained that he always ensured that “certain topics like statistics, trigonometry, quadratic graphs, trigonometric graphs, longitude and latitude which come out every year in SSCE were treated in details.” “These topics need to be dealt with more seriously than the others”, he revealed. Zambia’s former African Footballer of the Year, Kalusha Bwalya, has been banned from the game for two years by world governing body FIFA after an investigation into his links to banned Qatari official, Mohammed Bin Hammam. The adjudicatory chamber of FIFA’s Ethics Committee on Friday said that they had banned Bwalya, a member of the executive committee of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) for two years from all football-related activities. FIFA said in a statement that they had been investigating the 54-year-old Bwalya since February 2017. “Focused principally on the benefits that Bwalya had received from Mr Bin Hammam. “The adjudicatory chamber found Bwalya guilty of having violated Article 16 (Confidentiality) and Article 20 (Offering and accepting gifts and other benefits) of the FIFA Code of Ethics. “A fine in the amount of CHF 100,000 ($100,573.2) was also imposed on Bwalya.” Bwalya, was voted African Player of the year in 1988 and later went on to be coach of the Zambia national team and president of the Zambian Football Association. Senator Joseph Waku has accused Al Makura of Nasarawa State and Senator Geroge Akume of being the brain behind the recent move by some members of the Benue State House of Assembly to impeach Governor Samuel Ortom. According to him, the duo had sworn with their blood to make sure Benue remained ungovernable. He told Sun that, “What is happening in Benue State is very unfortunate. It is a tragedy. It is a big shame and a big stain on our democracy. How can eight members out of 30 threaten to impeach the state governor when they don’t have the majority? These eight lawmakers are in the minority, and so what they are doing is obviously illegal. “But unfortunately, it is these eight minority lawmakers that APC leadership and the Nigeria Police are backing. It is a big shame that the hatred and open hostility that APC leadership both at the federal and the state levels have for Governor Ortom that is blinding them to the illegality of the criminality they are supporting in Benue State. I am ashamed that this is the kind of democracy that APC and the Federal Government are practising. Imagine the Federal Government and the Presidency looking the other way while the Nigeria Police is being used to give illegal protection to these eight lawmakers who are in the minority. “Our leaders should cover their faces in shame. Imagine the Federal Government and the Presidency looking the other way while the Inspector-General of Police, Ibrahim Idris is giving police protection to these rebellious lawmakers. Is it not the same police that can’t stop herdsmen from killing innocent Benue State women, children, pregnant women and old men that are now protecting the eight lawmakers. The IG is a big disgrace. His action and conduct in Benue State and even in other parts of the country is very unprofessional. “It is sad that the police IG, Ibrahim Idris is using Nigeria Police as a tool of oppression against the weak – this is one of the reasons why the clamour for state police has to be taken serious. The Nigeria Police has become a tool of oppression in the hands of the Federal Government. The moment you are perceived as an enemy or opponent of APC or the Federal Government, they now turn the police on you to harass and torment you. This is very sad. I hope President Muhammadu Buhari will take urgent steps to redress all these anomalies before they boomerang. Nobody will talk about all these overzealous officials when problem starts but it is Buhari as the nation’s leader everybody will mention because the buck stop at his table. “Governor Al-Makura is not portraying himself to be a friend of Benue people. It is his government that is providing cover for those people who are making life difficult for Benue people. He is the chief host of the herdsmen tormenting our people in Benue State. Al-Makura doesn’t love us in Benue State, and that was why he played host at the meeting where the decision was taken by George Akume to sack Ortom illegally. Al-Makura should change and pray to God for forgiveness because of his unfriendly attitude to people of Benue State.” https://nairatrend.com.ng/benue-crisis-waku-reveals-nigerian-governor-senator-plotting-ortoms-impeachment/ Please visit https://nairatrend.com.ng
