The National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking In Persons (NAPTIP) has secured the arrest of three suspected human traffickers and rescued fourteen victims of human trafficking.

The suspects, two females- Evelyn Jerry, 27, Stephen Rebecca, 30, and Mr. Richard Patrick, 38, were intercepted in Lokoja, Kogi state.

The fourteen victims, aged between 3 and 13 years, and comprising of 9 females and 5 males, were crammed into an eight-seater Seat Alhambra Sedan.

They were taken from Riyom LGA of Plateau state, and on their way to Ekpoma, Edo State before they were intercepted and rescued.

The suspects, who are from the same town with the victims, confessed that they were taking the children to Ekpoma where they would be distributed to various households, for labour purposes.

They claimed that the parents of the fourteen children gave them consent to take the children and send them to various households for domestic labour.

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has given its own reaction to the postponement on the elections by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

Uche Secondus blatantly asked the INEC boss to resign.

The PDP Chairman also stated that it is a plan by President Muhammadu Buhari to hold on to power.



According to him, “Anything short of a well organised electoral process devoid of manipulation, harassment and intimidation of voters and the opposition particularly members of the PDP.

“Having failed in all their nefarious options to enable them cling on to power, the APC and the INEC came up with the idea of shifting election, an action that is dangerous to our democracy and is therefore unacceptable.”

Presidential candidate for African Action Congress (AAC), Yele Sowore has given his own reaction to the postponement on the elections by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

He said, “New date for Nigeria’s Presidential Election is NOW February 23rd 2019…Postponing their day of judgement by one week.”

INEC, in a recently released statement signed by its chairman, Mahmood Yakubu announced the postponement on Saturday, February 16, 2019.

The electoral body cited damage of electoral materials in some states as their reason.

Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, have arrested 8 suspected yahoo boys in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital.

The suspected internet fraudsters were arrested following a tip-off and surveillance carried out around Irewolede, Ilorin, Kwara State.

The suspects, who were rounded up at about 9.35pm on February 11, 2019 include, Chimezie Paul, 19; Oluwakayode Adebayo, 25; Mustapha Akeem, 19; Ezedigboo Paschal, 19; Mustapha Suleiman, 21; Mohammed Umar Faruk, 25; Abolarin Samuel Sunday, 23, and Anolarin Ridwan Gbolahan, 25.

Among items recovered from them were laptops and mobile phones.

They will soon be charged to court.

This is following the nation wide sting operation of operatives of the EFCC, which has seen most internet fraudsters across the country going into hiding.

Danish aid worker, Anja Loven Ringgren shared before and after photos of a young boy they rescued in Akwa Ibom two years ago after being branded a witch, beaten and abandoned on the street by his family.

This morning facebook reminded me about what happened exactly 2 years ago today.

On the 13 of February 2017 Nsidibe Orok, Director of Child Development of ACAEDF and I went on a rescue mission alone.

A boy was abandoned and left alone on the street.
We found the boy with scars all over his body. He was accused of being a witch. He was brutally beaten.
This was the day Elijah was rescued, one of David Jr.’s best friends today.

Mexican drug lord Joaquin ‘El Chapo’ Guzman has been found guilty on 10 counts of drug trafficking in a US court.

The 61-year-old was arrested in January 2016 after he escaped from prison via a tunnel five months previously.

He has now been found guilty in a federal court in New York on all 10 counts of drug trafficking. The cartel kingpin was once one of the richest people in the world and was listed on Forbes’ rich list in 2009.

The drug lord is alleged to have overseen the exportation of hundreds of tonnes of cocaine into the US and ordered hit-men to carry out hundreds of killings.

Part of the reason Guzmán was so notorious because of his numerous improbable escapes. He has escaped arrest on numerous occasions and custody in Mexico on twice.

During the trial, the court heard how Guzmán managed to escape from maximum-security Altiplano prison. A GPS watch was smuggled through to Guzmán’s cell and his sons bought a property on the periphery of the prison. From this point, diggers crafted a tunnel to his cell and he escaped using an adapted motorcycle.

Guzmán is the most high-profile drug trafficker to be trialled in the US. Jurors for the trail were anonymous and provided with armed escorts, as prosecutors argued that Guzmán had a reputation for intimidating and even killing witnesses.

The ‘drug war’ between US and Mexican officials and drug traffickers has claimed an estimated 100,000 lives across the course of more than a decade.

Another petrol tanker yesterday went up in flames at a filling station along Nnewi-Okigwe expressway, Nnewi, Anambra State.

This is coming barely two days after seven persons were reported dead in a petrol tanker fire incident in Awka, the state capital.

Although no life was lost in the incident, workers and customers at the filling station were said to have escaped by the whiskers when the fire started.

The station manager, Mr. Okeke Patrick, said the incident occurred when the tanker was discharging its product while customers were being attended to, Guardian reports.

He said:

“We were discharging fuel when suddenly we saw fire. We called the fire fighters immediately and they came after 20 minutes from Nnewi fire station and put out the fire, which burnt the patrol tank and touched the office block but nobody died or got injured.”

British-Jamaican singer Stefflon Don has confirmed dating Burna Boy.

On Monday, Burna Boy posted a video of himself and Stefflon Don getting cozy.

The Nigerian artist quickly deleted the video but not before fans download and circulate it on social media. Steff appears to be sleeping in the clip.

Bayern Munich star, James Rodriguez has sent out a warning to Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool ahead of both teams’ clash in the Champions League at Anfield on Tuesday night.

Rodriguez warned Liverpool that Bayern Munich are ready to beat them in front of their home fans.

Bayern head to the game following a 3-1 victory over Schalke in the Bundesliga over the weekend, while Liverpool thrashed Bournemouth 3-0 in the Premier League encounter on Saturday.

“I’m very much looking forward to facing Liverpool,” Rodrgiuez told SportBild.

“You can’t make mistakes in these games, but I think we can cause Liverpool problems. We have a team that’s good enough to go through if it goes well.”

Former Chelsea defender, Robert Huth has blamed forward, Eden Hazard, following the club’s 6-0 defeat by Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City in the Premier League on Sunday.

Three goals from Sergio Aguero, a brace from Raheem Sterling, and a goal from IIkay Gundogan handed Guardiola’s men all three points against Chelsea at Etihad.

Huth questioned the attitude of Hazard by blaming the Belgium international for his lacklustre performance against Man City.

He, however, accused Hazard for failing to step up during the match.

“Looking at what’s going on Chelsea, I don’t imagine he [Hazard] wants to be there much longer,” Huth was quoted by Daily Star as saying.

“In games like that, you need them to step up. But he fell short for us”

The Edo State Police Comman has paraded six persons for torturing and inserting pepper into a girl’s private part in Benin City over an alleged missing phone.


The six male suspects arrested are Otoghile Joel (owner of the phone alleged to have been stolen by the young woman); Lucky Igbinovia, in whose house the young woman was tortured; Edobor Osemwengie (Manager of Lafun Hotel); Kingsley Iyamu; Gregg Eweka and Friday Omorogbe.

The Police have also established contact with the 24-year-old victim, Ada Friday, to monitor her health status and recovery rate.

According to Mr. Abubakar Yesufu, President of League of Patriotic Lawyers, the victim did not steal any phone. .

“She refused the sexual overtures of the kingpin, who orchestrated the aforesaid missing phone and with the aid of a native doctor, he became the accuser and enforcer in chief of that sordid show of shame,” he said.
