"Jesus Christ mom!! There you go again! You've got to be kidding me . Not again, dont start with this marriage topic again. Please mom"

 David stood up from the chair where he was sitting in his room, He was almost screaming at his mom for raising such topic to him. His mom is good at it. He actually thought she was coming to give him a better info about something else. He walked to the living room.

"I told you mom i'm not ready and when i am i'll settle with Tayo. There is no way I'm getting married to that girl because you said so. Besides I just met her in the mall the other day me and Joe went to see a movie. I know nothing about her. We haven't even had a normal conversation. She came to uncles anniversary that's where I saw her for the second time."

"Does it mean you won't get to know her more when you two get to finally settle down?! She looks decent, beautiful and loyal. At Mr and Mrs Oringwo ' s wedding anniversary, both of you couldn't stop staring at eachother."

She continued..

"But the both of you talked really well. I had to ask around who that lovely guest was and they told me. I just liked her instantly. We even talked sef!." She said and smiled

"Talked about what?"

" I actually I saw her alone standing by the buffet then I approached her. I talked to her as a mother. I saw her chaplet rapped around her hand then i asked which of the catholic churches she worships. She is such a lovely girl dave".

Dave stopped and stared at her for seconds, thinking of his next reply..

"Mom enough with the flattery. Yes she is pretty but doesn't still change how I feel about Tayo."

"Hmm.... hmm... my son e be like say you no want me and your father to live long."

"Don't say that mom. I'm only doing what's best for me and you'll surely benefit from it."

"Over my dead body..hmm.."

He laughed,

"But How did you see us mom?" he asked smiling..
 
She smiled too and properly sat down on the couch to explain..

 "My son i have two clear eyes. They are still as bright as the sun. So i can see what is happening even though i pretend not to."Look son...She is from the same home town as us. She is very nice and hard working. She worships in the same church as us too though in a different branch. Thats what I want for a daughter in law.

This amazed him, he had to relax back on the couch sitting next to his mom..

"Ok mom how'd you know about her church now?" He asked surprisingly, he was becoming fed up.

" I did my own background check don't worry. I know what is good for my family. We don't have to start going faraway for her marriage. Everything will be right here. So your grandma and grandpa can come witness it too." she grinned

He took a deep breath..

" I know sarcasm when I hear one. Mom you're being unreasonable here. Put yourself in my shoes, Tayo and I have been together since uni days, she has waited for me this long just that I wasn't ready but now I think I am, despite what you and daddy claimed she did."

"Mom nothing you can do to change my mind" he said..


"You dare not bring that LovePeddler to this family as a daughter in law for me. I and your father won't accept that.  Do you know how many times we have seen her around hotel buildings with different men. You won't know because you've not seen reasons to or haven't caught her. You are too busy and blind to know. She is very good at covering up her deeds. There is no way she'll bear our family name or carry my grand children.  Mbanu!" His mother said

Mrs Anderson is a very strong woman that knows how to protect her family name. She tries to make sure her name is out for good.

"Mom I'm sick and tired of this same topic over and over again.  It seems you don't want me around here anymore. Maybe I'll just leave you and your husband and get my own apartment faraway from home.  I can't constantly keep up with this topic each time you come to my side. It's becoming unbearable that anytime we meet that is the next subject that'll pop up. Gosh!!." He said tirelessly. .

"Dave my son, even if you go faraway I'll come around and you know we'll be the ones to approve on your marriage. But don't even think about leaving here."

"And if I do?"

"Don't try it o! I'm your mother and I'm too old for that"

"Then Stop bugging me with that"

" I will, only if you'll do what we all want.  Trust me your mother for once, you won't regret this."

He Stopped listening to what she was blabbing and turned on his tv to watch a live match.  He left it on Supersport 10, Chelsea and Barcelona  were playing,  just then his club Barcelona scored that made him to jump up and scream 'GOAL!!!' It made his mom fidget and she understood her son wasn't interested again.  He always looked for a way to dismiss her and that was the best plight. She stood up

"Okay it's obvious you're chasing me out, I'm going. Make sure you come over for dinner"

"I'll try"

"You should... today there'll be a very nice delicacy. We have a new chef now and he makes the best supper"

"Ok mom, will still try" "I'll just ask the maid to bring mine over." he whispered to himself
She looked at her son, shooked her head and left.

Dave took a deep breathe and exhaled relieved he was done with that stage with his mom. He looked for every means not to bump into her or meeting up with her and dinner isn't a good idea.

Her phone got her out of her thoughts.. she looked for where the sound was coming from, obviously from her purse, she hadn't touched it since yesterday.  She got it and looked at the screen for the caller.. it was Kiki her bestie.

'Hello kiks'

'Hello smiley face'

 She giggled

'How are you this beautiful morning'

'I'm fine kiks'

'I know that Jenny.  I'm not supposed to call now you know na, you both should be busy by now with umm..." she cleared her throat not finishing her statement

Jenny laughed..

'It's okay you called I was kind of busy with my thoughts"

"Thinking about what already? I hope no stress" KiKi asked already suspecting something. She knows her best friend very closely and understands when something isn't right with her.

"No, nothing to worry about" Jenny answered

"Okay I'm just here making sure you're fine, you know how it is with him" KiKi said knowing how David can be sometimes. He can be an arse sometimes.

'I know. He is fine infact we are fine. So How did it go yesterday with the hall?" Jenny asked changing the subject

Kiki is her best friend and also an event planner. Kiki planned her wedding.
The reception hall was in a mess when they left. They hadn't known when it rains the reception courtyard gets flooded due to the lack of drainage. And the flood comes with waste lingering around the streets.
 The hall is one of the top event centre in phc dline, people mainly use it during dry seasons because of the situation when it rains. Kiki hadn't known about it before booking. She saw it as a big hall for her friends perfect wedding. The hall is situated in a good site close to one of the biggest relaxation spot in PHC. The guest did their usual complains and they had to wait for the flood to go down the drain before driving out.

"Everything is fine now. I'm really sorry about yesterday. The way people overhyped that hall made me to rush and book, and it was close to the road and a very good site too.

"It's okay, I just hope there wasn't any more issue when we left?"


 "No, not at all. I'll be meeting up with the photographer today by 3pm to get your pictures and videos. It'll be in my possession till you're back."

"Ok miss, but no first me see my video o!"

That made Kiki to laugh

"Trust me na, I've already watched some parts of it...hehehe"

"Na your way na"

They were still talking when she heard the door handle twisted open, in came David. He was with a white towel on his neck, guess he just came back from a sports. She was glad to see him.

'Okay kiks we'll talk later. I have to go. Bye"

"Okay bye"

The call went off

"Good morning sunshine"

she left the bed with so much smile and happiness on her face moving to him. She stopped on her tracks when he pulled out his box and started tossing in his clothes. He brought out a grey tshirt and a pair of black Jean with a shoe.

"Baby where have you been? Been looking all over for you" Jenny asked looking at what he was doing.

"Why?" He asked

"Umm....I didn't find you on the bed when I woke up"

"Ok I'm here now, what is it?"

"I hope it's not what I'm thinking you are doing?"

"What exactly does it look like? I'm getting ready to move out"

"Oh my God, Honey please stop please" she moved to stop him

"Don't" he side eyes her with a not so good stare.

"Were you at the gym?

"Yea, why?"

"You're sweating, looking hot and sexy"

That almost made him smile but why couldn't he? What could possibly be bothering him that he won't open up to her but thereby making her uncomfortable.

"Put your things together we'll be leaving soon. I've informed  the driver, he'll be here soon" David said

"You must be joking right?!" She asked

"You know me when I'm not joking"

"Don't be ridiculous Dave,  you know the money is not refundable. Plus we are supposed to be here for 3 months and we be barely stayed 24hrs. I can't believe you haven't changed. You told me you have but you are still portraying some of it. We can stay here a month or two, whatever thing that is bothering will be sorted out here."

Dave acted like she wasn't even talking to him.. he was busy tossing in cloths

"OH MY GOD what time is it??" She shouted like she remembered something

"12pm, what is it?"

"We are supposed to be in church for our Thanksgiving."

"Yes I know"

"You got up early before me and you didn't even wake me up to get ready"

She ran to her phone on the bed to check for missed calls, she saw 35 missed calls and 3 messages from her mom, her brother and her parents in law. She hadn't seen it when she answered kiks call...

"Jeez how come I didn't hear the phone ring? How did I slept so deep? Why didn't  I remember it's today? Kiki didn't even ask me, is it that she wasn't in church either? She asked none but herself...

"Your parents called..."

"I know"

"What did you tell them?"

"That you were sleeping and didn't want to go to church."

"And where were you when they called?"

"At the new house checking if they had finished with it?"

She looked at her husband for whole 20 seconds wondering if he was normal..
