Objects in mirror are closer than they appearWho gave birth to them? Who raised them? That is the failure no one wants to address, they forget that children did not just come from nowhere to learn behaviour, it is their environment that retrained them, so their failure is a reflection of those who raised them. The fact that OP realizes that he made a mistake is a sign of maturity but I will not pretend online that all adults were saint to their parents, even in the land of omoluabi or any conservative society. We learn differently and let's be honest, old people have their excesses. It is how we respond to them that shows the maturity and experience in life. It's old age. Learn how to manage him the way they managed your tantrums when you were a child but you cannot remember any of it. Next time, put him in the back seat at the owner's corner. Put an item on the front seat. Give him a newspaper, occupy his mind with something else. Bro don't let people scare you with marriage. Those who are building it, do you see them disparaging it That is life for you. Misery loves company amd those with the bad experiences make the most noise. It is like how bad news sells faster. If your business never did well, you too will blame the economy, blame Mr B and your village people. Such is life.Don't listen to all the noise in the marriage. Those experiences are part of life and this is how you learn. Marriage will teach YOU how to build a family, build a home, manage your in-laws and your mother, raise kids and leave a legacy. Men who build start with the building blocks of their houses first. Don't let the failures stop you. Rich man wey do business no de stop because him business fail many times or because dem dupe am. Listen to advice from those who want you to grow and be better. Marriage is what protects the structure of society.. You see some comments you read, it is one way you will know those who came from a dysfunctional family system. I am not judging anyone because not all marriages are perfect but a lot of adults you are seeing are adults in baby bodies who have yet to address their trauma. Their trauma is causing them pain and they don't want to look into the mirror. That's why the only advice I will give you before marriage is that you and her must know yourself first. Deal with the unexplained pain that happened in your childhood. Deal with the problems your mom and dad had and you think it is still yours to carry. Deal with the misconceptions you have been carrying, thinking it is normal for a man to do x or a woman to do z. Experiences make us more mature. Have a good experienced man to guide you. Don't take advice from us on the internet, these people don't care so much about your life. Have a mentor who is a man to help you navigate these issues. Real men choose the house they want to build. And real men choose good women to make it a home. You see this thing you are going through? This is how men learn how to handle women. You will know how to handle your mom, sister, wife, her sister. You will become a political animal because women have their own games which you must learn. Men learn these things through experience. It is what makes them sharper and more decisive. I also read one saying that he is in charge of what goes into his wife's mouth. As if he wakes up in the middle of the night when that infant starts to cry. I don't need you to endorse my opinion. It is a public opinion and I post to add to public commentary. I am a realist. Men and women have different biological and social makeups that come in when reality sets in. Men detach from and women attach to the new creature. Pregnancy is what brings out the maternal side of women and paternal side of men. Society and religion has also influenced the way people react to things that they don't know they are reacting to those influences unconsciously. Ask most men when their kids were born or what is their baby's weight today and surprise me. How many men sabi change diaper? How many men know the next immunization date? How many men know their children's blood type? Hiss. Even where pikin land for hospital, some men don't know. I am a man, I am this. This is why I said it is a big culture shock when some African men go abroad because the African society protected them from knowing these things that they didn't even need to know them if they wanted to. No be this same Nigeria men de alive and they leave women as single mothers? That one na man? Me I no be pikin dem born today wey you wan bamboozle with ideas, all those na theory. It takes a sensible man to select a good woman to build his home with. It takes a responsible man to also shape his household. How many of them know how to take care of their infants? How many of them care about post partum depression? How many of them even know what is going on with their child? Women take charge and they tell him not to worry about his own child Men are competing with their kids for breast, how many of them are enlightened enough to think that the breast is the child's own at this time? haven't they been brainwashed that it will sag? The woman also wants firm breast and will look for formula to feed this child. It's a crazy world out there Men are mostly irritated around this time and will be looking for fresh breast to chase. Men have been spoilt by their mothers to not know how to take care of their wives. Women do everything. This is why African men face serious issues abroad where there is no help. Men want sex, they don't like the new competition even if it's their child and the changes of the woman really affects them at this time. This is another place marriages break up because the changes are too much. If the man doesn't have a job, double wahala. How can a woman, who in their nature, want security be thinking about going back to work if the home is secured? She no go even lactate because her mind is desperate. I don't think this iron hand approach is the solution. Men should be educated the way we do in villages, from a young age, they are mentored by older men. A real man will not just knock up a girl without plans. Child raising is a serious thing and he needs to be prepared for it.
