When I said increasing minimum wage without doing anything to the crazy inflation we have seen in the past three years. Some "analysts" here claimed "they should increase it first".

Now they have, how has the increment actually salvaged the common man?

It depends on a lot actually. If you can graduate under 25, then it makes absolute sense when you are looking at GT roles because it gives you an edge or the focus is on japa via scholarship route.

However, if you are above 26 and you ain't looking at academics long term just focus on your business and get a 2.1 with it. First class requires a lot especially in public schools but rewarding in the context that I shared above.

When a company is listed, that means the public can buy their shares and sell it at any point in time. If Zenith bank has 100 shares, and a share is 1M. You already know that Zenith bank is worth 100m because people are willing to pay 1m for each of the company's shares.

For Opay they ain't listed, so you can't value them by market capitalization (shares). Only way is for someone to do a valuation based on some assumptions on Excel or any other tool. Reality is there's a market for Zenith at 100M but it a bit difficult to guage how much Opay would be worth unless there's real interest and the buyer does an indepth analysis. Every other amount you see online is most likely guess work.

Which is why I was saying that you can't guage a firm's stability especially comparing firms with different types of valuation, it doesn't make any sense. Does it make sense to you?

FYI: I know Opay is a licensed business though and they should be around for a long time. All I am saying is that valuation for commercial banks and Fintech do not work in same way. Commercial banks are usually valued by assets (mostly physical). Fintech by potential ceiling which in most cases is difficult to estimate. There's no logic behind comparing both and assuming Fintechs are better based on valuation.

You seem to have a catch word and that's "hypocrisy". I have never called out any seller even though there have been times where I felt the urge to. This argument is lazy and unnecessary. For starters, the name of the thread is literally called ''clearance sales'' and over the years that has been the status quo. Over time that has basically transcended into rules even though in reality there are not written.

Since 2014 1GB of data has remained at #250. Since that time naira has moved from #187 to #1,572. Fuel has moved from #87 to #985 but Telcos increasing their prices is where the issue is.


Look at the average prices of things around you, by how much have they increased since 2014? When you answer it, then explain to me why Telcos should be an exception.


Instead of these clowns to channel their energy towards the cause, they are attacking the effect. A lot of Nigerians actually lack the ability to think critically.
