Up TheSuperNerd: I think this is fair. Let the Senior players focus on executing the Poland and Portugal games.
New legs like Fernandez, Nwaiwu, etc should play the Unity Cup with maybe few of them joining the main squad for the 2 top friendlies.
https://x.com/i/status/2043677285320937511 This is the right move. What is the motivation to play the friendlies after a long season? rest and more rest on their mind. |

AndSunGorilla: Former Super Eagles invitee and ex Kano Pillars dependable defender, Stephen Eze, captained and played full 90 minutes for Jamshedspur. The 6.6 giant defender played all 90 mins as his team are fighting hard to win the league. Remember this guy used his SE invite and match to bag a move to Bulgaria...na India e dey now? |

TheSuperNerd: He played sitting CDM in that game I believe. Normally at Club Brugge he is paired in a double pivot with Stankovic, Onyedika does the recovery and distribution, Stankovic does the tracking, pressing mop-up and vice versa. Their roles compliment each other so much that sometimes Onyedika arrives in the box and hit belters. Alright |

TheSuperNerd: My dear Elder, I guess it is the idea of them wanting to see Onyedika running all over the pitch like a mad man doing eye service and forming busy/active to convince them that he did well vs Jordan. Onyedika did not even put a foot wrong vs Jordan and even scored a good goal that was scrapped off.
If you watched the Chelle Reaction immediately after Onyedika scored, you will see him gesticulating with his hands, uttering "You see? You see?" emphasizing why the quick passing-moving sequence from side to side, switching the play constantly, is key to breaking down a stubborn deepblock. This was before his reactive coaching show was stopped by the nonsense ref decision to cancel it. Lol
Chelle was like, "you see why you need to keep ball moving from end to end and finding the gaps... it is so that we get chances like that". He was impressed with the sequences leading to that goal. Onyedika was involved in the sequences.
Abeg na people for this thread sabi. Time will tell it all. E get one match wey I watch Onyedika for Club brugge, he just sit for the midfield, all the loose balls he dey collect am dey distribute am immediately, the players around home dey fast and mobile. He was very impressive. Which role he dey play? |

TheSuperNerd: Hi Great Thread of Nigerian Football, it is indeed a good day to be alive and be excited for what 2026 still promises.
Today is My Birthday and I want to remind everyone out there not to give up on whatever their dreams, aims, aspirations, project pursuits, goals, etc are. Victor Osimhen did not and look at him today and his story is still not done. John Mikel Obi did not and now he is a bonafide Nigerian legend. Rashidi "Rasheed" Yekini did not and he remains the one of the pinnacles among African Strikers today.
Lastly, on a flip note, Elyte89 is still not giving up on his Super Eagles job dream despite we all knowing how impossible it is and he is also not giving up on Nigeria heading tod USCAMEX 2026 World Cup, so honestly what excuse you get?
Cheers to me and Cheers to us all.... God Bless You. Happy Birthday!!! Many more years ahead!! |

Mujtahida: But don't you think that just as the fortune of clubs ebbs and flows, so also leagues?
When I started watching the English premiership, Chelsea was a mid table club with players like Zola, Andre Flo, Vialli etc until Abrahamovich poured money into Chelsea and it became a force to be reckoned with.
Look at Man U today. Who would believe that for over ten years, Man U would go trophyless?
The same thing can be said about leagues. In the 90's the Italian league was supreme. It's still good today but not like it's hey days.
While we all prefer Osimhen to play in the big leagues, the Turkish league can grow and become big. We have been hearing this since 94. A league that is always plagued with scandals can't grow. |

No Bossoflife25: I thought this guy should know better, alas they are all the same here. The mediocrity here is too much. lol! How many of our players are not in top 5 league? Ordinary Gift Orban, Uche, Arokodare, Durosinmi, Akor, Ejuke Moffi, Zaidu are in top leagues. So what da crap are you peeps all about. Only Osimhen is not yet he is your best player. In the last 10 years we have won the APOTY twice! Rest abeg! Your body just dey sweet you to react to comments without reading the context from which the comment was made. I commented based on recent moves made by players not on players currently playing. |

darkelf: Still doesn't refute my claims that Naija players aren't usually preferred in the transfer market, research or not
In the last 10 years, how many Nigwrian players have earned a move to Big Name clubs and compare that number to Senegal or ivorycoast
Not that their players are entirely better Once upon a time we had a certain coach who insisted on our players playing in the top 5 leagues....agents and players conformed accordingly.....now the chorus is "it doesn't matter where our players play" make we no complain...it's the season we are in. |

Bossoflife25: Lookman will be 29 soon. Athletic Madrid is another Atalanta, they are winning no damn thing. Lookman should sign for Fene! Turkey is recruiting well, and in few years for now they would be really competitive! The same thing was said when Okocha, Amokachi and co went to Turkey, till today we we dey wait make Turkish league dey competitive. |
