JohnBullMySon: I didn’t watch the Mozambique game tho. Was busy with something else but of course you will have space cause it’s Mozambique.
Of course I’m not saying we should only be crossing the ball, obviously. However, the Algeria I watched today showed some aerial weakness in the box. It's ok. I get you. |

Kilishihunter: Talking about their strengths is not shake shake. As we dey analyze them for here that's what they will do for us too in their national forums especially as regards our free scoring ability in this tourney. They are a tough opponent with quality players also so there's nothing bad in admitting that But I know they can't keep our attack at bay alright oooo. I wish us all the best |

JohnBullMySon: How please?? We should revert to aerial balls to beat Algeria? Did you see the Zonal Pressing that we employed yesterday? How we utilized spaces? Dual roles played by Lookman and Akor? You say we should use aerial balls .....na wa. |
Sports › Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Truidstarr: 8:24pm On Jan 06 |
JohnBullMySon: Hmm boss. This statement is strange oh
I was one of the first here to say that Nigeria will beat Tunisia. Tunisia has good teamwork but from their ball control you’ll know that their players are seriously average.
Algeria is a different ball game. Their midfield will clog those Iwobi style passes. To beat them we need to go aerial. Na you talk this kind thing? |
Sports › Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Truidstarr: 8:23pm On Jan 06 |
Kilishihunter: Why won't they see ball play? They have one of the best midfield in this comp even with bennacer injured. We just have to try our possible best to outscore them cause apart from the Tunisian game our defence hasn't been really tested. If osayi sees someone free he should pass to avoid the issue of our last game Una too dey shake shake..best midfield ke? |

ThunderFireAgba: Hello guys, I know I've made some predictions here that came to pass. I predicted Nigeria winning by 2 to 4 goals against Mozambique and this game BTW Algeria and DRC, I predicted a win for Algeria. But as it stands now with what I'm seeing with this Algerian team make una keep your cards to your chest guys. Our backline will have a difficult job stopping them to be honest. We miss Fedrick Benjamin. And we Miss Ola Aina. That is if Algeria see ball play. |
Sports › Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Truidstarr: 5:02pm On Jan 06 |
NasirIbnLaAhad: As good as Nigeria has been in this AFCON, we must not get carried away. The truth of the matter is we haven't truly been tested yet. Mozambique were a good side because they were well coached. Their individual talent though was always suspect, and many of us already knew how porous their defense was, so conceding that many goals against Nigeria wasn't that much of a surprise, as delightful as it was to see. I shudder to say this, but our run is starting to look eerily similar to PSG's dominant run last year at the FIFA Club World Cup right before they encountered Chelsea in the finals. God forbid that we share similar fate. This AFCON is a must-win for us, as we don't have a World Cup to participate in (I know the DRC case is still under review, but I'd rather err on the side of caution).
Nigeria should prepare for opponents who might employ Chelsea's blueprint against PSG last year - intense pressing to disrupt our rhythm. Expect aggressive man-to-man pressing in our next couple of games. Eric Chelle need plans to play through or around aggressive pressing. Don't rely solely on overwhelming opponents. Majority of the "minnows" in quote, have been knocked out. It's mostly the big dogs now. As the tournament progresses into semifinals and finals, teams will be more evenly matched. While our attack is excellent - and by far the best in this tournament, we need to maintain a compact defense. I'm happy that Bruno and Osayi seem to playing better, but truthfully neither have really been tested. Plus many coaches have seen enough of our games in this AFCON to study our pattern. For instance, you'll notice that Iwobi always falls deep to get an accurate picture of the game, before slotting in those insane low ball crosses into the opponents half. An intelligent coach will find a way to neutralize him. Chelle must be prepared for opponents who study his patterns.
Dominance in earlier rounds means nothing if you can't adapt when a well-prepared opponent disrupts your gameplan. My fear is that Eric Chelle is a proactive coach, but not that good at reacting in-game. I believe he said it himself that he prefers to impose his own style on the players. He knows how to setup a team and deploy personnel to carry out his plans, but when those plans go south, how often has he reacted well? Most of the time, he overthinks and ruins things for himself. I just hope he's learnt his lessons from the World Cup playoffs. Your write up is good, but....I am yet to see a side left in this competition that we will struggle against...or is Argentina or Spain playing in this AFCON? |

CapitalCee: Benzema had off field issue with his team mate, Deschamp dropped him. France went on to win the WC. If I am the coach I will start phasing him out, until he becomes humble. It's all about Man Management, it's impossible to have 27 to 28 individuals with different personalities, mindset and background together for an extended period without having clashes and bust-ups. Na the one Una see yesterday Una dey shout for. Do you know what is going on behind closed doors? |

Algeria and Drc definitely have the attacking capabilities, mentality and strength to fight back from 2 goals down especially against Nigeria defense Dem bo go see ball play...make we meet them first. |

Clint02: This comeback spirit is key. We lack it, and it was very evident in the last afcon, and the world cup qualifiers. The team should develop that fighting spirit and strong mentality, then it will reflect in our playing style. Why do you need to comeback when you are dominating game and take your chances? This SE na Barcelona philosophy dem get..Outscore your opponents. |

daveP: Morocco loves to foul. Will be key to make them commit in their final 3rd the most. Means Chuks is needed in that game. Chelle might tweàk to halt predictability. But seeing our pathway, he can hit them at their fragility Who tell u a say Morocco go reach semi final? |

FiveFootNinja: There's no way in hell Mozambique is stopping us sha. I don't care what they did in the group stages. We've arguably looked better than both Cameroon and Ivory Coast in different moments and those teams still squeezed a result out of Mozambique. I can almost bet my life on it that we will breeze through that fixture.
It's from the quarter finals that we should start getting worried to me. Both Algeria and DR Congo are stronger than all the opponents we've faced so far, Tunisia arguably included. We can exit from there if we're not careful. I had to confirm twice say na you dey talk with so much optimism...glad you have changed your stance. |
