Let's wait and see how the game with Greece goes and then we can start to determine if Lagerback has had any impact. I think that the NFF should either sign him up for another 2 years to take us to the ANC or replace him with Siasia right after the WC. We also need a national secondary school level tournament in Nigeria to serve the same purpose that college football does in the US. We need to start tapping the infinite talent that we have available to us. I know I've seen some small kids balling under one of the Ikoyi bridges and pulling off moves that would make Messi gape. One last thing. It is the resonsibility of the coach to motivate the team but he cant give the players that essential quality called "heart". We lacked it today and I only hope the boys can dig deep and find it in the next game. |
Here is my analysis. 1. Lagarback's formation was flawed as it left the mid-field totally in control of the Argies. 2. Haruna played acceptably but we were under so much pressure he never got a chance to display his attacking ability. 3. The players were disciplined and without a doubt, they lacked that under Ahmodu. Still, their passes were inacurate and the absence of the mid-field meant that there was a yawning gap between the defence and the attack. 4. For the last few years, Nigeria has lacked a clinical finisher. Why would anyone expect that to change today. 5. Lagerback's changes were timely and changed the game. Still at the back of my mind, i wonder how the game would have gone if we had started with Osaze, Martins and Uche. We'll never know now. 6. The boys were overtly cautious, avoiding marking in a bid not to get caught. The coach needs to prod them exert more pressure even when they dont have posession. 7. The long balls dont work for Nigeria. Why in the world we keep trying them beats me. Finally, we played against Argentina. I honestly thought that we'd lose by at least a 3 goal margin. The folks that are saying Enyeama saved us need to understand that it's exactly what he is meant to do. I salute him. |
It's becoming more obvious that the problem with Nigeria is not just our leaders. The NFF submits 200 names to the SA embassy and some on this forum make statements like "no be our money we dey spend?". We, the average Nigerians are a large part of the problem as well. Do we think that the SA government disdains entry into their country the same way that Nigeria does? 36 state chairmen all want to go with the NFF as delegates and some on this forum dont see anything wrong with that. Freedom of expression is great but sometimes I wish individuals would think before posting here and exposing their ignorance. |
chidichris:Chidichris, the list was not drawn up by me. Did you not read my post or see the list? You can take your grouses to the soccernet website. |
While I do not condone the killing of innocent civilians, I do not think that the aid workers can be classified as such. The entire aid effort reeks of propaganda. Note the following; 1. The aid convoy had been warned not to breach the blocade and alternatives had been provided for delivering the convoy's aid. 2. The convoy was warned repeatedly before being boarded and before any violence ensued. If the aim was to provide humanitarian aid to Gazans, why not utilize the established channels and avoid confrontation? Again, I beleive Israel "might" have overreacted but until we know what kind of resistance the crew of the vessel put up, an informed decision cannot be made. Finally, knives, slingshots and sticks may not constitute deadly force but they can kill a man just as dead as guns can. |
Here is a list of ESPN's top 50 players at the 2010 World Cup. Not surprisingly, no Nigerian player features on the list. For a while I have argued that Nigeria at this time does not have even 1 top tier player and this list seems to say just that. 1 Lionel Messi, Argentina 2 Cristiano Ronaldo, Portugal 3 Wayne Rooney, England 4 Kaka, Brazil 5 Xavi, Spain 6 Didier Drogba, Ivory Coast 7 Andres Iniesta, Spain 8 Fernando Torres, Spain 9 Steven Gerrard, England 10 Michael Essien, Ghana 11 David Villa, Spain 12 Franck Ribery, France 13 Samuel Eto'o, Cameroon 14 Luis Fabiano, Brazil 15 Iker Casillas, Spain 16 Cesc Fabregas, Spain 17 Gianluigi Buffon, Italy 18 Dani Alves, Brazil 19 Nemanja Vidic, Serbia 20 Wesley Sneijder, Netherlands 21 Maicon, Brazil 22 Frank Lampard, England 23 Andrea Pirlo, Italy 24 Carlos Tevez, Argentina 25 Robin van Persie, Netherlands 26 Gonzalo Higuain, Argentina 27 Diego Forlan, Uruguay 28 Thierry Henry, France 29 Sergio Aguero, Argentina 30 Michael Ballack, Germany 31 Julio Cesar, Brazil 32 Arjen Robben, Netherlands 33 Gerard Pique, Spain 34 Miroslav Klose, Germany 35 Lucio, Brazil 36 Javier Mascherano, Argentina 37 John Terry, England 38 David Silva, Spain 39 Carles Puyol, Spain 40 Nicolas Anelka, France 41 Ashley Cole, England 42 Patrice Evra, France 43 Marek Hamsik, Slovakia 44 Karim Benzema, France 45 Yoann Gourcuff, France 46 Daniele De Rossi, Italy 47 Philipp Lahm, Germany 48 Yaya Toure, Ivory Coast 49 Giorgio Chiellini, Italy 50 Landon Donovan, United States http://soccernet.espn.go.com/world-cup/story/_/page/worldcup101-03012010/ce/us/top-50-players-2010-world-cup?cc=5901&ver=us I'd like to know what the general feelings about this list are and also, is there any Nigerian player that should be on this list? |
Unknown to Beyonce, while Jay was a pillar of salt he had the ability to see all her actions. Vivid images of Rev. King giving her a holy cleansing had been seared into his mind. He could still see Rev. King's spider-like fingers creeping over every curve and entering every crevice of Bee! Na so Jay eye see red o! |

After carrying out a slew of independent investigations into the service outage experienced by Nairaland, I have come to the following conclusions. 1. The outage occurred as a result of a hardware failure. This validates Seun's claim. 2. The hardware failure was caused by a concerted attack on the Nairaland servers by the gross stupidity of several posts and this was further exacerbated by the now common foolishly tribalistic sentiments expressed by a vocal minority on this site. 3. In a bid to prevent the reoccurence of such an unfortunate event, Seun, you are advised to virtualize your environment and implement high availability and fault tolerance. This will yield the required results in an effective and cost efficient way. Finally, if anyone took the time to read all that I've written, you are obviously jobless and need to find some work to keep you occupied! ![]() |
^^^Kushe, you've hit the ball way out of the park with your analysis. We might have had Dagrin with us today of Nigeria had some semblance of healthcare in place. Countless die everyday in this exact same way and nobody says a thing because they are not celebrities. Let's hope that this sad incident will turn things around for good somehow. |
Abekeade08:@Abekeade! Hmm. . . babe, so I finally run into you here after you played a "runaway bride" on me. Do I have to tutor the guys in this thread in the exquisite art of effective chiking just to get you to come back? ![]() Not fair! |
Dapsee and Plat! Ok, you both need to take a break. It appears that a misinterpreted first impression has now blossomed into a full scale war. Now we've got Vire and Ahmedoo egging both parties on. Not good! @Dapsee, Plat was only joking when she asked for a phone. @Plat, guys are naturally egotistic. Dont keep going at it. It's no fun seeing two people who are probably total strangers hurling insults across cyberspace. Let's put an end to this. Truce, both of you? |
^ ^ ^ There's an unwritten code among gentlemen. Here it is. When a more deserving chap takes the object of your desires away from you and leaves you helpless to prevent it, you at least let them enjoy the honeymoon phase. You then take time out to recover, seek help with upping your game and "maybe"check in after a while to see if the babe even remembers that you exist. Young man, the line above is the exact point that you are at right now. Get with the program! @Abekeade, Baby, when we get a chance to have a private conversation I'll explain exactly what the sentence that has this young man befuddled means. ![]() |
Abekeade08:Ooooh babe, I am soooooo looking forward to getting to know you and "them"! ![]() |
Abekeade, Plat is having all the fun and I'm bored "stiff". No fair! ![]() When do we start our 8 month kicking it period? Or were you using me to make your bloke feel bad? Naughty you?!? |
Abekeade08:She said YES . . . .YES! Abekeade . . . 8 to 11 months might just turn out to be a lifetime. Be warned, I'm intensely addictive. Since we're settled on kicking it, can we start to play ball right away? |
Abekeade08:Abekeade, does this mean that I only get a fraction of your attention? I've been playing for all of it you know? Not to worry though . . . gimme a little and eventually you'll wanna give it all. ![]() |
Abekeade08:Don't doubt dear. I'm solid like my name. Still, taking risks is kinda fun ain't it? I know they say the devil you know is better than the angel you don't but I say, an angel is an angel . . . simple. No horns, no sharp teeth and no pointy tail. What you get instead is a halo, fluffy feathers that'll do stuff you wouldnt believe and let's not forget that hard body to boot ![]() What's there to doubt? |
Abekeade08:Normally, I'd never side with the devil, but on this one occassion all I can say is "dont stop pushing o!" On the other hand, anything that can push you into my arms certainly is NOT the devil. ![]() And just so you know, I do "comfort" really, really well! |
platinumnk:Plat, you're a jewel! ![]() |
Abekeade08:@Abekeade, yup . . . I ain't doing any ish of any sort. And I soooooo love the way single-and-ready-to-mingle looks on you! |
bk/babe97:Aaaargh! Now you've got me trembling in fear. ![]() Lame threats are the forte of the weak minded. You've got boys in Inglewood? No wonder your mind functions a certain way. @Abekeade, insecurity is so unattractive and this young man is giving us a graphic display. If he cant handle the digital heat on NL, how in the world will he hold up when I truly start to bring my game? |
Abekeade08:Abekeade, you need hard and soft . . . hard and soft! I work out as well so you bet I've got that hard body that you fancy. On the other hand, my word game is just right to soften things up when you want. I know he's making you swoon right now, but I'll be the one to catch you when you fall o! ![]() |

I am sure that after our affair I won't want to go back to bbk.
