PoliticsRe: Amaechi Will Be Treated Like A Traitor – Dokubo-Asari by truth4meal(m): 7:31am On May 06, 2013
Isn't it disheartening to hear a man like Asari Dokubo threatening the rest of us with anarchy if we dare to express our right to personal thought? This Id.iot freely expresses his willingness to vote for GEJ but want to cow us so as not to express our own right to choose because he thinks he is more Nigerian than the rest of us? So far security operatives and the presidency have not taken any step to caution Asari's insane drum of war but they will be quick to close a radio station up north for a callers opinion which is in no way martial. To Asari Dokubo, Kuku and others beating the drum of war and heating up the polity - no one can threaten a whole nation infact no section of the country can threaten d nation. Instead of Dokubo to tell GEJ to deliver on his promises to the nation the l.unatic is here shouting war, war, war.War is different from the hide and seek jamboree in the creek o. Someone should tell him that war is far different from the trade in kidnapping - war is total destruction, its evil and vain. If GEJ like let him caution them we will vote who we want to vote come 2015 based on achievements of his govt not because a fish brain threaten to pick up arms.sometimes I can't but laugh at all these emergency warlords
PoliticsRe: 2015: Merger Parties Pick Buhari by truth4meal(m): 8:18am On May 05, 2013
And to all you singers of young president - how many of you voted ur young comrades who contested for the presidency in other political parties to serve as a form of encouragement and also as a testimony of your sincere want for a young president. How many of you belong to a political party or are u dreaming someone will one day knock your door to offer you the candidature of a party? See we should cover our face in shame that the only tin veritable against Buhari is his age and religion - and not that he is corrupt and insensitive to the plight of the masses. Because Buhari is old I should then vote a clueless GEJ cos he is young? Because Buhari is a northern I should then vote the corrupt GEJ cos he is from the south? So because Buhari is muslim I should vote the visionless GEJ cos he is a "christian"? We need to start thinking and acting like people that sincerely want a positive change. It should be progress over sentiments not the other way round...transforming Nigeria atm is not a child's play I beg to repeat! Sai Buhari!!!
PoliticsRe: 2015: Merger Parties Pick Buhari by truth4meal(m): 7:58am On May 05, 2013
Insincerity on what we truly want is a major in Nigeria. Is the problem of Nigeria caused by age of our leaders? NO! Is the challenges of our economy a result of an absence in technocrats? NO! Is the problem facing us as a nation and our inability to move forward a direct product of sentiments? YES! Why can't will just for once be reasonable - if age is the magic why then is a young and educated GEJ performing so horribly? Or why is Dimeji Bankole and the rest "youths" embroiled in massive corruption? Any reasonable person who is still thinking freely and not with a bought conscience will attest to the popularity of Buhari and the sincerity of the man's quest for a positive change. When we reason in terms of how old a man is and where he is from rather than the ability to perform then we are indeed our problem. Politics is a game of popularity and numbers - only Buhari can within d frame of two years be sellable cos pushing a new relatively unknwn individual as a presidential candidate is a suicide. Age has nothing to do with performance in govt and history has a lot of examples. What we need is progress - sincere transformation and "total" freedom from the bondage of PDP. Our problem is not about age, sex, tribe, place of birth and other trivia tinz - our problem is corruption, greed, insincerity, mismanagement and PDP!!! Buhari is the man! After him a young an vibrant Nigerian can emerge but not now - to clear the rot in this nation atm is not a child's play...Sai Buhari!!!

If you in anyway support the inhuman plot of the govt to downplay the excess use of military force in Baga then you are not different from Boko Haram. Innocent live is sacred and taking it under the guise of BH or JTF shld be condemned. Another interesting angle to this whole BH issue is that some people who are reaping bountifully from the 900 billion security budget just want violence and the bloodshed to continue because how will u initiate an amnesty committee and the next minute u are using force - don't u think u ve jeopardised the amnesty move? BH said FG is not sincere, FG says BH are ghosts but in all of these one tin continues - innocent lives wasted. Just ask yourself this question what if I was a resident of Baga...
PoliticsRe: BAGA: Journalists, Activists Lies Exposed As On-the-spot Assessment Report Revea by truth4meal(m): 11:28am On May 01, 2013
thelastPope: Do you have a single evidence to collaborate the lies that 185 people were killed? No media house or activist has brought out any evidence to substantiate the lies so far. So what are you blabbing about? The Baga community leader has come out to say he is not aware of any such deaths. If Eko Ile can can go and take a picture of one fallen CCTV camera in Abuja and post it as the demise of the Abuja CCTV system, then of course anything can happen in todays media. The media has spoken without evidence but have gained public sympathy because of todays social media structure. The FG has decided to look into it and have found the report wanting and untrue. It is now the job of the media to prove the FG wrong with actual evidence, otherwise they should be tagged enemies of Nigeria.
if u must knw thr is a media blackout in Baga. JTF restrict media coverage and the whole village is heavy guarded so the question is why is the government restricting media coverage if thr is cover up plan...this is what Human Rights watch ve to say: http://www.hrw.org/news/2013/05/01/nigeria-massive-destruction-deaths-military-raid

This your misinformation is the same reason why Nigerians keeping dieing up North while our leaders are feasting in Abuja. I sincerely won't draw any comparison between MEND/ND MILITANTS and BOKO HARAM but for the love of peace and the security of the lives of Nigerians up North - the solution to the problem is paramount. If MEND blow pipelines and BOKO HARAM blow Church is violence not violence? If BH kill people with bomb and Mend kill people with gun - is death not death; or is killing not a sin no matter the motive? Or was the first use of bomb on october 1 not claimed by militants? We should not deplore tribal sentiment to a matter that involves the lives of other Nigerians. I sincerely want a stop to this bloodshed and whatever can make that a reality should be deplored. All your impotent effort like others like you to drag Buhari into the inefficiency of a government to perform his constitutional right of providing security is appalling.

I don't know how best to respond to your post because I don't understand what the post is all about. But I think that of Mimiko is self-explanatory so I will respond to that - Mimiko is a Yoruba man voted by Yorubas. Mimiko is a member of Labour party which is not an Igbo party - APGA. Okay now to the arithmetic of influence; ACN of the West has more influence (unity) - 5 states out of 6 compared to the APGA of the East - 2 out of 5. We are still more united than the Igbos. No one day Igbos should neglect moral to vote for just any Igbo what am saying is that Igbos should vote for a credible Igboman or are you saying none of such Igboman exist? The last time both Ige and Abiola vie for political post - Yorubas voted enmasse for them; Governor of Old Oyo and President of Nigeria respectively. The truth is bitter!!!
PoliticsRe: Why The Igbos Should Vote Goodluck Jonathan Come 2015 by truth4meal(m): 4:25pm On Mar 03, 2013
Why must Igbos vote for GEJ - is it a crime for Igbos to vote for someone of Igbo extract? Aside from the politics of "voters" - is GEJ Igbo? Aside from the hatred of the north necessitated by the shadows of Biafra - Is GEJ Igbo? Aside from mis-direction and misrepresentation by Igbo elders - Is GEJ Igbo? See Igbo need not vote for Buhari but not also for Jonah. Igbos should at least show some seriousness if truly they want to rule this country by Voting for someone of Igbo descent. OUK might not be a sellable candidate but can you see how the government of Igbo beloved bride - Jonah is destroying the ambition of every aspiring Igbo codedly. If Igbos are somewhr thinking Jonah will hand over to them if he is re-elected in 2015 they are living in a dream world.
PoliticsRe: Disgruntled Politicians Want Igbo Presidency - PDP by truth4meal(m): 4:11pm On Mar 03, 2013
Igbos are purely the source of their own problem - if not for the disunity of purpose that is a fad in Igboland this O'lie-sir Metuh will not push aside the right of a region just because adhering to rotational presidency does not favour his boss. Calling aspiration and a region's right an act of disgruntled element is a new word for folly. GEJ's is using the turn of Igbo - he knows just like the igbo elders who only think according to the money paid. O'lie-sir can continue to lie to himself that rotational presidency is archaic but all right thinking Nigerians know that to uphold national unity power must rotate. GEJ is not Igbo ; Igbos should fight for their right to the throne. The politics of Jonah is our brother is only "politics" and not the truth. But seriously wetin concern me sef grin
PoliticsShell Decries Oil Theft, Threatens Shutdown by truth4meal(op): 3:41pm On Mar 03, 2013
BY JIMITOTA ONOYUME
PORT HARCOURT: SHELL   has decried the rising incident of crude oil theft on its facilities in the Niger Delta region, saying it could force the company to shut down operations.

Managing Director of the oil giant Mr Mutiu Sunmonu who spoke weekend in Port Harcourt said the company was losing an average of 60,000 barrels of crude oil per day. Describing this as the highest volume of crude being stolen so far within the last three years, Mr Sunmonu said they started witnessing this upsurge since January this year.

“The situation in the last few weeks is unprecedented. The volume being stolen is the highest in the last three years; over 60, 000 barrels per day from Shell alone. So, that for me is a great concern”, he said.

While appealing to the Joint Task Force to step up its fight against oil theft in the region, the Managing Director of the Anglo Dutch oil giant said there was urgent need for a concerted effort at the international and local level to fight the crime

Mr Sunmonu who did not rule out involvement of international syndicates in the crime said those behind it had started setting up tank farms, barge building yards and facilities to store the stolen crude before shipment.

“This whole crime has gotten a lot more sophisticated and you could see that the perpetrators are now setting up barge building yards, they are setting up storage facilities, they are setting up tank farms for storing the crude, prior to shipping out. So, if you look at all of these, it is very clear to me that this is not just an act by desperate individuals trying to make a living. This certainly is a well funded criminal activity, probably involving international syndicates”

Continuing,    he called for concrete steps to address the worrisome situation, adding that he was deeply disturbed by the devastation on the environment arising from the activities of the oil thieves.

“…but I worry more about the devastation, the devastation for the people of Niger Delta, the destruction it will cause to the social and environmental aspect of the people of the delta and to Nigeria as a whole”

The oil giant in a statement circulated to newsmen at the end of the interaction with the Managing Director said it had to shut down production on twelve flow stations three times   in February alone this year because of oil theft, adding that the situation caused deferment of production of 150 barrels on each day.

The statement said there had been increased attack on the company’s Nembe Creek Trunkline , NCTL

During an overfly Vanguard observed    crude oil flowing on top of the water around the Nembe creek trunkline.  Tanks used for refining some of the crude were littered around camps set up at the shore of the sea. Barges, canoes loaded with crude were visible from the height. Ironically, no security patrol around the area was noticed.

PoliticsMaku Attacks Fashola, Says Lagos Governor Has “something To Hide” By Rejecting “ by truth4meal(op): 10:05pm On Mar 01, 2013
The Good Governance Tour team said ACN governors have “something to hide.”
For the second time in one week, the Labaran Maku-led ‘Good Governance Tour’ team has hit out at a state governor who criticised the project.
On the occasion of his 2,100th day in office, Babatunde Fashola, the Lagos State Governor, had described the tour as “an attempt to appear busy” because the federal government “have no project to inspect.”
Mr. Fashola’s statement fell in line with his party man and Edo State counterpart, Adams Oshiomhole, who turned down the tour team’s request that the state provide feeding and accommodation “as agreed.”
In a statement, Friday, the team said it viewed the Lagos Governor’s utterance “with concern and deep regret” because the federal government has a huge stake in the governance of Lagos State.
“Governor Fashola should be appreciative of the Federal Government because far more than other states, the entire Lagos State like Abuja, runs on Federal Government infrastructure and services and Fashola knows that the Federal Government is doing a lot to keep Lagos State moving,” Samuel Ajayi, the Coordinator National, Good Governance Tour, said in the statement.
The Good Governance Tour, led by Mr. Maku, the Information Minister, began in September last year, with Abuja hosting the inaugural event.
With over 100 delegates comprising of state officials, journalist, civil groups, and nongovernmental organizations, the team intends to visit all states to highlight federal and state government projects.
However, the tour, which has seen Mr. Maku and his team visit 15 states across the North-central, South-East and the South-South Geo-political Zones, has continued to elicit criticisms from some Nigerians.
Something to hide
Last week, Nobel Laureate, Wole Soyinka, labelled the tour “a big scam.”
“I am happy that Oshiomhole told the leader of the Good Governance Tour, Labaran Maku, to go to hell,” said Mr. Soyinka, throwing his weight behind the Edo State Governor.
Both Messrs. Oshiomhole and Fashola belong to the opposition Action Congress of Nigeria.
Mr. Ajayi referred to this in the statement, insinuating that the governors have skeletons hidden.
“It is obvious that Governors of a certain partisan persuasion are nervous about the impending tour of their states,” the statement continued.
“This clearly demonstrates that they have something to hide. If not, why are they afraid of the tour of projects in their states?”
The statement further reiterated that the tour is non-partisan and that all the 36 state governors were part of the planning.
“It must be shocking to all who are familiar with how the Tour was conceived, and is being implemented, that it has taken Governor Fashola nearly six months to dissociate the Lagos State Government from the Tour,” the statement read.
“For the records, Lagos State was duly represented by the Deputy Governor, Mrs. Adejoke Orelope-Adefulire, on the committee set up by the Nigeria’s Governors’ Forum, to ratify the template for the Tour.
“The final framework was approved by all state Governors without exception.”
PoliticsAbsentee Cross River State Governor, Liyel Imoke, Returns by truth4meal(op): 9:50pm On Mar 01, 2013
The Cross River State Governor, Liyel Imoke, who travelled abroad for treatment for an undisclosed ailment, has returned to the country.
Former Minister of Information, John Odey, told PREMIUM TIMES  some minutes ago that Mr. Imoke arrived Lagos from the United States this evening and is being expected in Calabar, the Cross River State capital, on Saturday.
“I can confirm that the governor has returned,” Mr. Odey, one of Mr. Imoke’s closest political associates, said with glee. “We are all here waiting to receive him. We have been in touch with him while he was undergoing treatment. But we are more than excited to have him back.”
PREMIUM TIMES recalls that the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, had on January 29 expressed happiness over what it described as the remarkable recovery of the governor.
The Party’s National Publicity Secretary, Olisa Metuh, said in a statement the party received the news of the governor’s recovery with great joy, adding that he was being expected back to his duties soon.
“We have just received news of the remarkable recovery of the Governor of Cross Rivers State, Liyel Imoke and we are very happy. We expect that he will be back to his office very soon to continue the good works he has been doing in his state,” Mr. Metuh said at the time.
The party spokesperson also commended the leadership of the party at various levels in the state for holding fort and ensuring smooth running of government affairs in the absence of the governor.
The state Commissioner for Information, Akin Ricketts, had also on December 15 issued a statement to debunk speculations that the governor was dead.
He said then the governor was recuperating.
Mr. Rickett said the governor officially wrote to the state House of Assembly early December transferring power to his deputy, Efiok Cobham, to enable him proceed on a two-month accumulated leave.
The governor’s Chief Press Secretary and Special Assistant on Media, Christian Ita, had in a statement on December 6 explained that Mr. Imoke was away on medical grounds.
The statement did not disclose the ailment but explained that Mr. Imoke started a two-month accumulated leave on December 7.
According to the statement, Mr. Imoke had informed the State House of Assembly through a letter to the Speaker, Larry Odey, that Mr. Cobham will act for the duration of the leave in line with the provisions of the constitution.
