grandstar: Elections frankly speaking are unpredictable. If Wike does not Atiku in Rivers State, how will he win? If Wike does not win, is it Tinubu that will? I see Rivers people preference will be for Peter Obi and not Tinubu.
Only a candidate that Wike endorses can win in Rivers state, large crowd or no large crowd. No one is claiming Tinubu will win Rivers. I don’t think anyone of us ever claimed that. Even if Wike support Tinubu, he still won’t win Rivers but he will get at least 30% of the votes which is a fair game. If Wike do not support Obi, there will be no one to mobilize voters for him on Election Day and stand their ground. People loving you alone don’t win election in Nigeria, you need structure at the ballot in all ward to man the vote. All those baby Obidients, if they hear gunshot do you think they will stay to defend their votes? |

Tsolutionjoseph: Na so den no go get time on election day Don’t even mind . He is just saying nonsense. Porthacourt no get businessmen and rich people reach Lagos and yet you see lagosians heeding the call for Tinubu rally and etc. During Buhari CPC era, baba always fill the stadium and Buhari was broke then self. When the electorate love you, no matter that they are doing, they will leave it to come listen to you whether it’s a Monday or Thursday. You have Porthacourt with over 1million eligible voters and only 2000 people showed for your rally.
Do want to claim that over 98% of Porthacourt eligible voters are employed such that they won’t have time for a rally? |

Stop wasting your hope on him. |

Tell us why your rally for a whole Porthacourt be like naming ceremony. Is this the same Porthacourt where you are expecting 1million votes? If PDP/APC can hire people for #500 to grace their rally, don’t you think they can buy their votes for #5k on Election Day? When Buhari used to have 10million votes back then, he always fill up stadium in his base without inducing any voters as CPC. Why is the supreme monkey Obi not able to pull 2k people in a supposedly base in Porthacourt? |
PH is economy city and busy town like Lagos, Onitsha, FCT cities like these if you want to have high turnout during rally declare public holiday, and close markets, there is no way people will leave their offices or close their shops to attend Obi's rally few day to Christmas people are hustling to grab more for season for a rally they will not give them a dime, that's way Tinubu had to shutdown markets in Lagos mind you his rally was on Saturday, in Abuja Tinubu campaign team witnessed low turnout during Abuja rally, Atiku also witnessed low turnout in Lagos because he couldn't do what Tinubu did and his rally was on week day, but on election day you will understand rally doesn't guarantee outcome of election especially ones crowd were hired.
Lol see nonsense talk.
Is Saturday not a working day too for a state like Lagos? Abi you think Lagos is a civil servant economy? Won’t people go to their various businesses too?
You’ve been running your mouth about Porthacourt rally since and telling us to look forward to it. When it flopped, you deflected to the fact that it held on a Friday.

Crime › Nigerian Pastor Arrested In Zimbabwe For Allegedly Smuggling 2.33 Kg Of Cocaine by trutharena(op): 7:07pm On Dec 21, 2022 |
A Nigerian pastor has appeared in a Zimbabwean court in the resort city of Victoria Falls after he was found in possession of 2.33 kg of cocaine with a street value of 126.7 million Zimbabwe dollars (about 188,000 U.S. dollars) stuffed in clothing items.
The 46-year-old Desmond Onyii Onuoha from Lagos, Nigeria, faces up to 10 years in jail if convicted of drug trafficking and possession charges, according to Zimbabwean laws.
He was arrested at the Victoria Falls International Airport on Oct. 23 upon arriving from Brazil via Addis Ababa, the capital of Ethiopia, after Zimbabwean police were tipped off that he could be in possession of dangerous drugs, the Herald newspaper reported Tuesday.
Onuoha is denying the charges, saying that he did not know the contents of a baggage he had been asked by a congregant back in Nigeria to hand over to a person in Victoria Falls.
He said he had come to Zimbabwe to pay the dowry for his wife, with whom he had been staying since February 2022.

Politics › Taraba LP Suspends Chair For Alleged Misappropriation Of N21m, Others by trutharena(op): 3:21pm On Dec 14, 2022 |
Taraba State chapter of the Labour Party (LP) has suspended its chairperson, Esther Gulum, from office for allegedly diversion of N21 million campaign fund.
Also, she got a no confidence vote, yesterday, from the executive council, who alleged that she misappropriated over N21 million meant for campaigns.
The State Organising Secretary, Peter Philip, said Gulum’s six months suspension became necessary to enable the party’s leadership investigate the allegation.
Apart from the alleged diversion of fund, which was meant for the party’s presidential rally in the state, Gulum was also accused of running the party affairs alone with her immediate family members.
The use of personal accounts to run the affairs of the party in the state, according to Philip, also necessitated the action taken by the party’s executive against her.
Her sins were legion, The Guardian learnt, as she was accused of engaging in anti-party activities and working for the state government since ascending the leadership position of the party in the state.
“Lack of accountability and transparency in running the affairs of the party in the state,” they said, was the order of the day.
But Gulum claimed to be innocent of the allegations against her.
While admitting that N17 million was approved for the rally, she said N9 million was released to her for the exercise, which account, she had rendered to the exco.
She said: “It is childish and false to say that I was given N20 million by Peter Obi’s campaign council and I embezzled it. I was not given N20 million; I was given only N9 million and I used it judiciously with a clear record.”
According to her, the allegations against her can be the handiwork of a youth leader, who wants to soil her good name and image in his desperation to make money.
“It is also false to say that I am running the party office with my immediate family and that I engage in anti-party. I want the national secretariat and all supporters of our party to disregard the information, as it is purely false, targeted at tarnishing my good image and that of my family. I am a loyal party woman and I am Obedient,” she added. Source: https://guardian.ng/news/taraba-lp-suspends-chair-for-alleged-misappropriation-of-n21m-others/l

Politics › 2023: Olubadan Denies Endorsing Peter Obi by trutharena(op): 3:08pm On Dec 13, 2022 |
The Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Senator Lekan Balogun, Alli Okunmade II, has denied endorsing the Labour Party (LP) presidential candidate, Mr. Peter Obi, for president in 2023 general elections. The monarch and his members of Advisory Council described the claim as false and self concocted to mislead the general public.
“The attention of the palace of Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Sen. Lekan Balogun, Alli Okunmade II has been drawn to the claim of endorsement of the Labour Party (LP) presidential candidate, Mr. Peter Obi by the monarch and his members of Advisory Council, a claim described as false and self concocted one to mislead the general public,” Olubadan said.
It would be recalled that the LP presidential candidate led his campaign team to pay a courtesy visit on Olubadan last Saturday and some of the members of his Advisory Council joined to receive the August visitor at the Alarere residence of the monarch.
The attendees among the High Chiefs were Balogun of Ibadanland, his Otun, Osi, Ashipa, Osi and Ekerin Olubadan namely High Chiefs Owolabi Olakulehin, Tajudeen Ajibola, Lateef Gbadamosi Adebimpe, Kola Adegbola, Eddy Oyewole and Hamidu Ajibade respectively. While High Chief Ajibola responded to the campaign speech made by Peter Obi, High Chief Oyewole offered prayers for him on his ambition.
But in the viral video being widely circulated by Obi’s handlers, High Chief Oyewole was seen praying for the success of the LP at the polls.
“The palace could have ignored the report and dismissed it with a wave of hand, but with the torrents of inquiries by some of our credible media houses seeking clarification before publishing and the need to counter social media trending of the foul report without professional touch, this reaction becomes imperative.
“How could anybody would have in his or widest imagination assume that a presidential candidate of any political party would receive an open endorsement from a place like the palace of Olubadan? That must be a crude joke carried too far. It is preposterous to say the least.
“While discountenancing the claim of endorsement by the Olubadan Advisory Council, our politicians are counseled to please leave the palace out of their game. The campaign is just starting and the visits to the palaces are part of the itinerary of the candidates and how would they feel should the gates of palaces be locked against them?
“For the umpteenth time, let it be emphasized that Olubadan and his cabinet members do not and cannot belong to any political party and they would never express preference for any candidate or political party in the public no matter the degree of temptation. The palace of Olubadan belongs to all just as the occupier of the exalted stool remains father of all as well.
“In the meantime, I commend my professional colleagues and their respective media houses who saw the oddity in such claim and sought for further clarifications following their putting the report in abeyance.
“I also appeal to the social media handlers to always think twice before rushing out with report as the season we are in presently does not call for undue sensationalism,” the monarch added.

Politics › Peter Obi Ally Babachir Lawal Predicts Atiku’s Victory At First Ballot by trutharena(op): 11:08am On Dec 09, 2022 |
Adamawa-born politician Babachir Lawal has projected opposition candidate Atiku Abubakar to win the first ballot in the 2023 presidential election, a poll he had predicted will go into a run-off.
Mr Babachir, a former chieftain of the ruling All Progressives Congress who switched camp to support Peter Obi of the Labour Party, asserted that Mr Abubakar of Peoples Democratic Party will sweep votes in the North where he hails from.
The former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, in an Hausa interview seen by Peoples Gazette on Thursday, asserted that “Atiku will sweep the northern states and obtain the required 25 per cent in all states and the FCT.”
Explaining the rationale behind his projection, Mr Lawal said “The 2023 election has gone fully tribal and people are likely to vote along ethnic lines.
“Yoruba will for a candidate from the West, (Asiwaju Bola Tinubu) of the All Progressives Congress; Igbo will vote candidate from the East, (Peter Obi of the Labour Party) and Hausa will vote for a candidate from the north, (Atiku Abubakar of the People’s Democratic Party).
Until recently, Mr Lawal was a strong ally of Mr Tinubu but he fell out with the latter of his decision to choose a Muslim running mate, Kashim Shettima. Mr Lawal, an acclaimed pastor, maintained that the APC Muslim-Muslim ticket is a grave slight on northern Christians and would not stand.
Last week, he officially announced his support for Mr Obi, saying the Labour Party flag bearer and his running mate, Yusuf Datti Baba-Ahmed represented a national agenda that befit multi ethnic, religion-diverse Nigeria.
“We want Obi to win this election, and must win this election. If we lose this election, we’ll migrate to Cameroon because of the shame and failure to win… Peter Obi must win this election,” Mr Lawal said days ago.
