That was my mum’s answer.

She began telling me what life really felt like growing up in Nigeria in the 70s and 80s… and the more she spoke, the more it felt like stepping into a completely different world.













The more she spoke, the more it sounded like a simpler life… but it makes you wonder… was it actually better?

Note: This was made from my mum’s perspective, so it might differ slightly from your own experience or that of your parents.

If you experienced this era (or heard stories about it), I’d really like to hear yours.

I also used that slate but not for long... It was fun actually, but, I think it's better now. Though, there is nothing that has advantages that doesn't have the opposite. LIFE!

So far, in my journey of life, with this very little experience I have, majority of single mothers are jobless, don't have any reasonable or tangible thing doing, they most times beg to eat( sorry for this but it's the truth). I haven't seen or should I say there isn't so many independent or self established, working class single mothers that experience rejection, they most times have men that are ready to wife them.

Don't dare ask single mom "how are you doing"? We all know what will be the response.
