Coalition Faults PDP Over Osun LG Crisis, Warns Against Misleading Court Rulings

A civic group, the Coalition for Good Governance, has condemned the attempts by certain individuals and groups allegedly sponsored by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to misrepresent court rulings and pressure the Federal Government over the ongoing local government crisis in Osun State.

The group, in a press statement signed by its Convener, Adedokun Ismail on Wednesday, criticized a recent press conference held in Abuja by a group known as the Transparency Centre Network (TCN) led by Ayuba Ahmed. It described the group as a “sponsored and self-styled activist body meddling in Osun State affairs.”

According to the coalition, the TCN’s interpretation of the Court of Appeal judgment on the Osun local government matter is misleading and aimed at causing confusion.

The group noted that the Court of Appeal had already reinstated the chairmen and councillors elected under the All Progressives Congress (APC) in its ruling delivered on February 10, 2025, and that this judgment remains unchallenged at the Supreme Court.

“Their claims are not only deceptive but also a direct insult to the independence of the judiciary, Obeying court orders is a sacred constitutional duty, but not one dictated by the personal interpretation of sponsored groups”, the statement read.

The Coalition accused Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke and his allies of attempting to undermine the judiciary by pushing their own reading of a subsequent Appeal Court judgment delivered on June 13, 2025, even while the February 10 decision remains legally binding.

“They are trying to force their narrative on the public and the Federal Government, but only the Supreme Court can overturn the current legal standing,” the group added.

The statement also warned against inciting public unrest, recalling past violence allegedly linked to PDP protests, including the death of a local government chairman in Ikire.

“The Governor and his party, PDP should be warned to desist from any pan and action that may threaten the peace of the state”.

It further criticized the seven-day ultimatum reportedly issued by the Transparency Centre Network to the Federal Government, calling it a bullying tactic aimed at forcing a particular legal outcome.

“We will not be threatened or misled by individuals sponsored to derail governance at the grassroots,” the Coalition declared. “For every action, there will be a greater reaction—we are ready to mobilize in greater numbers to defend peace and the rule of law in Osun State.”

The group called on President Bola Tinubu, the Inspector General of Police, the Attorney General of the Federation, and relevant agencies, including the Central Bank of Nigeria, to disregard the “foul cries” from what it called PDP-sponsored actors.

Concluding, the Coalition reaffirmed its commitment to peace and the democratic process in Osun, stressing that only the Supreme Court has the power to alter the current legal status of elected local government officials in the state.

Oyo Govt Begins Major Overhaul of Government House Ahead of 50th Anniversary – Commissioner Oyelade

The Oyo State Executive Council has approved a ₦63.48 billion reconstruction of the Government House to reflect the dignity of the state as it approaches its 50th anniversary.

Commissioner for Information, Prince Dotun Oyelade, noted that the current condition of the facility is "an embarrassment," adding that for the past six years, the Governor and Deputy Governor have used their private homes due to the poor state of the official residences.

The renovation includes the completion of a new Banquet Hall, which is expected to be ready before the Golden Jubilee of Oyo State next year.

The Council also approved ₦131.75 million for the employment of professional gardeners to maintain the green spaces within the Government House.

In another significant development, ₦14.29 billion was approved for the installation of Instrument Landing Systems (ILS) at the Samuel Ladoke Akintola Airport as part of efforts to upgrade it to international standards.

Other key approvals include:

A €2 million partnership with Semmaris and the African Development Bank for a fresh produce International Agro-Food Market at Ijaiye.

₦130 million take-off grant for the New Towns and Cities Development Authority.

The 2025 edition of the Oyo State International Tourism Summit, scheduled for July.

An increase of ₦270.85 billion in the 2025 supplementary budget to fast-track the completion of major projects.

These initiatives highlight the Seyi Makinde administration's commitment to infrastructure renewal, economic growth, and a lasting legacy of development.

PoliticsOyo Spends ₦63.4 Billion To Renovate Government House For 50th Anniversary by Truths9ja(op): 6:47pm On Jun 18, 2025
Oyo State Executive Council, on Wednesday, approved the sum of N63,479,858,000 for the overhauling of the Government House structures.

A statement by the state Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Dotun Oyelade, in Ibadan, the state capital, said the council described the current state and ambience of the Government House as an embarrassment and an unbefitting facility.

He observed that for the past six years, the Governor and his deputy have been living in their personal houses instead of their official residences at the Government House.

Oyelade noted that the Banquet Hall at the Government House would be completed before the 50th anniversary of the state, next year, as part of the Seyi Makinde administration’s legacy for the next administration.

The commissioner said, “The Council also approved the sum of N131,751,530 to employ professional gardeners for the maintenance of green areas and other designated places of the Government House.

“Similarly, in fulfillment of its determination to upgrade the Samuel Ladoke Akintola Airport to International standards, the government is processing the installation of Instrument Landing Systems.

“The approval was given for the procurement and installation by the State Executive Council for a sum of ₦14,296,507,000.

“The ILS technology ensures the smooth landing of aircraft especially in bad weather.”

He explained further that an earlier instrument procured by the Federal Government was damaged, and the state has taken it upon itself to procure and install another one within six months

Oyelade reiterated that facilities are being put in place for Customs, Immigration and other vital agencies to meet International standards.

In a related development, the Executive Council also approved the payment of the first installment for the service agreement on the International Agro-Food Market, which will be constructed in Ijaiye, Ibadan.

The agreement for the construction of the fresh produce international market is in conjunction with the African Development Bank, which has issued a certificate of no objection for the project.

Oyelade said, “The State Government is collaborating with a Paris-based fresh agric produce international farm company, Semmaris, at a cost of €2 million.

“The council also approved the second edition of the 2025 Oyo State International Tourism Summit which will take place in July.”

The commissioner also said a take-off grant of N130,000,000 was approved for the state’s New Towns and Cities Development Authority.

According to him, the agency was established to relieve structural congestion in urban cities and avoid the resulting urban slums.

He also revealed that the state 2025 supplementary budget has been increased by ₦270,854,500,000 to align with the state roadmap blueprint to complete ongoing projects before the end of the Seyi Makinde administration

Yes there was flood but the cars were not trapped.

The fact of the matter is that the president's car was not trapped and that makes you a liar.

I have two advice for you:
1) Stop telling lies.
2) Go and check the meaning of word trapped.
Don't you see the convoy been trapped in the flood. If it's small vehicle, it will be difficult for them to ride on that axis.
